“Wweelll… There is that idea as well.” Her eyes narrowed, and her smile widened, as the idea formed in her mind. “Have you considered a showing? We could do the whole ‘snobby aires’ thing with cheese and various wines. Make it not uniform formal. Give everyone a chance to dress up outside of our Mess Dress. What do you think?”

The idea that others might like to see his work was part of it. The other was that she doubted anyone had ever asked to see his stuff in a while. This way he could share with the whole crew.

“I have two large containers with the paintings and drawings hung vertically on frames that one flips through like a book. There are hundreds down there. I just have to cycle the inert atmosphere I use to halt degradation before opening the doors.”

Kord thought for a moment.

“We could probably make it an occasional event. Much of my artwork is thousands of years old.”

Tia smiled. Hopefully he wasn’t just placating her, and truly wished the others to see. “The Masters will be jealous.” She laughed. “I understand good artwork has to be at least a century old to be priceless. And you get to see the appreciation that mere mortal artists more because of our short lives. And I’m sure there will be plenty of competition to get a piece of your talent.” She reached over to touch his hand as she thought to ask. “Are you really ok showing it off? Don’t do it just because of me. Though I hope I’ll get to see them regardless. I’m a fan, after all. Biased or not.” She winked teasing.

Kord smiled and gently grasped her fingers with his.

“I’d be more than happy to put on a viewing for anyone who’s interested. I wasn’t reaching for greatness, just doing something I enjoyed.”

  • Kord

Tia smiled. “I’m glad. I’m definitely interested.” She stood up, keeping his hand in hers and let him to the couch.

The next hour was spent discussing the way to do the show, how to display his work and just how much of it he was willing to get rid of.

As the night waned, Tia yawned and rested her head on the back of the couch. She was curled up sideways, barefoot with her skirt hiked very unladylike up over her calves from her getting comfortable. “I’m glad we did this, Kord. I know you work about me and the age difference. But I hoped you won’t worry about it often. I want to try and make your happier than you’ve been in a long time.” She reached out along the back of the couch and touched his shoulder lightly. “Will you let me try?” Her last words were given with a grin of mischief that hinted that he may not have a choice, despite her asking.

Kord knew they were genetically incompatible and thought *Why not. * it had been a long time since he did more than kiss a curious woman.

“I think I’d like to see what you come up with.” Kord said with a warm smile.

While she had been slightly flirting, she honestly hadn’t expected him to agree. When he did, Tia was glad. Her smile softened from its mischievous look and she nodded. “I’m glad. Perhaps we can both learn to relax a bit more.” While the idea of curling up with him and sleeping made her body flush, Tia didn’t want to push it. “Perhaps tomorrow night we can look at your paintings? And you can choose dinner. I am sure you have a replicator full of things I’ve never even heard of that you love to eat.” She smiled and left her arm on the back of the couch, her finger tips still lightly touching his shoulder. “I’m curious, actually, as to what your favorite dessert is. I’ve been told you can tell a lot about a person by how they sate their sweet tooth.” Her laugh was accompanied by a wink. She was teasing, but it could give her insight into what things he enjoyed when not trying so hard to work.
