Hi Merri folk,

I hope you are all keeping mentally, emotionally and physically, fit and well, during these strange times. Most people have continued to post regularly to the Merrimack so it appears you are. The Merrimack is a slow-posting ship. For example, a junior officer would only need to post every 10 days, however, I have plenty of free time at the moment, so if you want to post more quickly, be assured that I will reply to you. I understand some people who are furloughed and can no longer post on their lunch breaks from work, are finding it hard to post. I would encourage them to alter their daily routines, and to post instead from their smartphones or tablets. This kind of role-playing is really a creative writing exercise, and it is a great way to improve your mental, emotional, and physical health.

I’d also like to welcome Travis Good to the Merrimack family as a Vulcan Science Office, Metatron. It has been quite a while since we had a Vulcan Science Officer, so that will be “fascinating.”

I’m also sad to see Cat Bennett and David Robinson leave us. Cat’s leaving, is especially sad for me, because she has been here as long as I have, and that is a very long time indeed. I’d like to thank them both for their long service aboard the Merrimack.

Posting to the Merrimack is also a good way of building confidence, improving artistic self-expression, improving thought clarification, of understanding of the mechanics of reading and writing, of improving empathy and communication skills. I’m sure David Robinson wouldn’t mind me saying that during his time here, that improvement was very evident in the quality of his posts here and I take that as a big positive.

I am also well aware that we have real lives well away from the virtual world of STF and that these impose restrictions and interfere with our ability to post frequently. So, I’m lenient of AWOLs (up to a point). I also realise that since the the crew are more experienced members of STF, and are not students without any care in the world, that they may have more serious problems with health, family relationships, childcare, parents, or from personal or business financial difficulties, even more especially at this present time. I am very understanding of that, and I would only ask that you are too. While the posting rate on the Merrimack is slow, there can be times when an emergency means that an LOA cannot be posted, or that replies to a post are delayed. This also applies to our GM too. We are lucky to have Robert Archer as a GM. Please remember that some ships have had no GM for long periods. You are all very experienced STF role-players, quite able to self-Sim and to improvise without having your hands held.

Well that’s enough said,

Dave

Welcome aboard Travis!

GM CockRoach

Thank you all.

Travis
