Bridge - Main Sim

“The Chief and I have concerns, suspicions. I want to make sure this sin’t some type of device designed to remove us from the continuum. A reality bomb if you will.” Kord commented, “That is why I’ve asked her to run complete simulations based on the latest constructions. If it get’s finished before the results are in, I’d like to suggest we delay any activation till we can be reasonably sure of what will happen.”

Tia nodded to the Captain and headed for the lift. “Captain… permission to return to Engineering?” She wasn’t going to go if she was needed here. But she had things to keep an eye on.

“Yes, sure! You’ll need to keep on top of the work going on down there,” replied Glen. “I’ll try to come down and visit, but this equipment on my back makes my movement quite limiting. I would like a status report on what has been happening while I’ve been absent, but Kord can provide that.”

A comm call from engineering came up, it was from Daniel =/\= Daniel to Captain Glen. I heard you were released from sickbay. I am gladdened to hear you are stable. I see too we have gathered the necessary gases for the temporal device. We are currently finishing up final tests and power connections in the cargo bay as well as reported to me. From there we simple need to power the device with a stable warp bubble of warp 8. From there I will initiate the device and we will begin the temporal and reality ‘healing’..=/\= he said.

=/\= Just wait one moment please, Daniel =/\= Glen told him while he consulted his officers.

=/\= Of course Captain..=/\= Daniel said.

Glen was glad that Tia hadn’t left yet so that he could ask her directly before he replied to Daniel. “Are we ready to give the go ahead to him now?”

Kord looked over at Glen.

“Gasses? I though we’d only gathered one of them so far.” Kord said.

“No, Engineering just reported before you stepped out of the Ready Room, that they had all the necessary helium and hydrogen in the amounts Daniel had requested,” replied Glen. “However, I’m happy to ask him to delay longer until Tia runs some more complete simulations based on the latest constructions. After all, we’ve been experiencing these temporal problems for years, and despite my own particular problem, a few more hours, or days shouldn’t make that much difference. I really don’t see his urgency, given, as you say, the possible dangers. I can quite understand why you might feel you are being bumped into doing this. Personally speaking though, I have to say that wearing this backpack for any extended period of time is going to become a drag.”

Tia looked from the CO to the XO. “I mean, technically yes… we are ready. And if the gases are in place, then all is apparently good to go. But I wonder about have two warp fields of this magnitude, occupying the same space. I’m guessing that is what will create the tear or hear it or whatever. But as the Lieutenant Commander said,” she nodded to Kord, “I have concerns. Like can we come back? But if you are asking my if engineering and the ship are ready… then yes. Yes they are ready.”

Once more grateful to ‘not’ be the CO, Tia waited for her orders.

“If simulations will help to determine if it is safe, then I have no objection to delaying until they have been run,” said Glen. “And I can tell him that. That’s no problem, but they will still be only simulations. I have a feeling that whatever they show, the decision is going to be more about trusting Daniel, and I feel that you both trust him far less than I do.... Any idea how long do you need to run and analyse these simulations? For safety, I would think we need to exit this nebula and perform the procedure in empty space with a much lower gaseous pressure. It will take us a day or two to reach such a region. Is that sufficient time, or do you need longer?”

She glanced at Kord and shrugged. Then back to the Captain, she replied. “That should be sufficient. And you are right. I would definitely eliminate as many unknowns as we can.” She still didn’t like it. But then again, she doubted the Captain and XO liked half of what engineering did most times.

“Then that is what we must do,” replied Glen.

The Captain flicked the communicator button on again to reply to Daniel. =/\= Daniel? Sorry, i was just conferring with my senior officers. I’m feeling better thank you. I’m also glad that you are pleased with how things are progressing. Before you power up the device I need a few more boxes ticked as regards its operational safety. Firstly, we need to leave this nebula if we are to create a perfectly stable Warp bubble of Warp 8. This region of space has too high a gaseous pressure and is littered with gaseous anomalies. In addition, it is also a haunt of pirates, rogue Klingons, and marauders from non-aligned planets, who might interrupt things. I estimate that it will take us two or three days to reach a safe place to begin. Secondly, I want Engineering to fully complete their standard operational safety review simulations to ensure that the actual operational performance of the device will match its design specifications and expectations. I have been informed that assessment should also take about three days. =/\=
