There was a pause before the Third nodded. =/\= Of course, that makes sense. We would not want either of our teams to blow us to the Abyss and back! =/\= She said with a bit of a nervous chuckle. Turning and pulling up a roller chair for Inola to sit on the Third pulled up a display screen along the wall. The scrolling text of words were typed in manually on a primitive keyboard interface. Then loaded into the display screen by relay of a small square shaped disk loading system. This in turn clicked and whirred before a four way split category display came up. In total for typing and programming and transfer it took about 20 odd minutes for the Third to do her thing.

Pointing to the upper left she showed a series of words, about 40 in total =/\= These 40 words were are references to our engine systems which are currently offline, mainly how we translate from sublight speeds to faster than light travel rates. =/\= She said. Then pointing to the upper right she continued to a list of 60 odd words and phrases =/\= These refer to interconnecting system junctions, relays, and power generations related to the engine system for faster than light travel. With these first two once we can get them translated to a readable format for your translator this should provide a foundation for enginerring crews to work together.....I hope =/\= She said.

Swallowing a nervous chuckle, she continued then pointing to the lower left quadrant. In total it was about 45 odd words and phrases it seems, =/\= This third section outlines secondary systems and their connection pattern back to primary systems. It also includes references to system make up of other life giving systems =/\= She explained, finally pointing to the lower right quadrant she said. This was the shortest section and was roughly 18 odd words and phrases in length. =/\= The last part here I felt was also important, that being temporal measurements, distance measurements, and similar references and usage. =/\= She explained.

Turning then she added =/\= Does um....this help so far? =/\= She asked glancing to the UT with Inola, =/\= I admit I’m amazed your translator is so small and yet capable! Ours are still built into the ship, and only by relaying audio pick up to the ship by a delayed comm system can we uplink data to it live. =/\= Then her eyes came alight with amazement as she seemed to make a connection of some kind =/\= Your translator must already be interacting remotely with our own uplinks! That’s how I can understand you in our own speech tones! Am I right?! =/\= She queried excitedly. With a song like squeal tone.

Inola laughed. “The UT contains a database and an advanced computer system. With enough samples, it can extrapolate the correct meaning. Some languages are harder than others, and that’s pretty much what I’m for.” She paused. “I’m not actually sure how it gets the samples. I’m not an engineer at all.” She didn’t want to mention that they had been looking for the ship. She looked closely at the first quadrant that had been pointed out. “So your problem is in propulsion?”

-Inola, Comms

=/\= Yes the Forse system =/\= She said obviously Forese was their term for ‘warp’, =/\= failed to fire as we prepared to leave this system to faster than light speeds. Thankfully we did not have a core breach or major loss of power beyond motive propulsion at sublight or faster than light speeds. The problem was it also knocked out sublight drive so we could not even get back into this system where we could have harvested minerals for repairs and processing. Or least that is what the engine crew reported. To be honest....=/\= The Third paused and glanced at where the First was speaking to Glen, then back to Inola in a lower tone. =/\= To be honest, some had felt we might die out here, lost from the Council and our home, and unable to return with the reports and evidence of our previous travels to three other systems before here. We could not even communicate with our home or unknown word reference, perhaps means love, as our communication systems do not extend further then a few thousand kilometers =/\= The Third went on, and also the UT had updated references now on measurements so that was proof things were getting better.

Inola nodded, trying to focus on the engineering aspect. She desperately wanted to ask about their council and their society, but she had her orders. “We plan to keep that from happening. Do your engineers know what went wrong in the Forse system? I think one of our engineers is already taking a look, but it could be helpful to know.”

-Inola, Comms

Another pause before replies happened before the Third nodded. =/\= It seems there was an unexpected overload in the plasma feed to the Forese drive, which caused a fire to break out in the main motive relays in the engine room. Some unknown word, perhaps an insult back home for some reason felt we did not need spare parts or wiring which after the fire was out we found we lacked the means to replace the damaged components. Thankfully by the Abyss you came along not long after. =/\= She explained.

GM CockRoach

Inola nodded. “It sounds like a simple enough repair.” She tilted her head. “I suppose medical terminology should be our next priority.”
