Seeming to sense the impatience of Glen the First turned to another of the female aliens at a forward console station, after a second of s sing song like reply exchange the UT translated. =/\= unknown word, perhaps rank and name how far at best speed to Alstair Prime? =/\= the First asked.

After a few seconds of checking dials and print outs on a screen the NE alien female turned replying =/\= At unknown word, perhaps a speed reference speed about three standard days.=/\= Came the reply. Checking the updated UT matrix on time factors Glen could find that three days of the Alstaire people’s days was about 3 1/2 Earth days or so. So all in all not too long a trip thankfully!

=/\= Good alert, all crew to prepare for FTL acceleration once things are back in order and our guests return to their ship. =/\= The First said. Then turned to Glen =/\= Captain Glen, it would be my honor if you would like to accompany us to Alstair Prime to attempt to meet the Tri-Council members if they are so willing. While it will come as a certain surprise to say the least it is better then us returning with only our reports given our failure to find our sleeper ships out here in the depths of space. And without your arrival we would have no doubt joined them..=/\= she said.

=/\=We would be equally honoured to accompany you back to Alstair Prime and to meet the Tri-Council members=/\= Glen replied. After a pause, =/\=You know…=/\= Glen added, =/\=We could probably help you to track down those sleeper ships. Given the fragility of your ship’s drive, it would be better if you made your way directly back home. However, as we can cover a far greater distance than your ship in the three standard days it will take you, so we could monitor your ship and give assistance, while at the very same time, make a search for your ships. If we were able to find them, then your mission would be an even greater success.=/\=

=/\=I cannot guarantee a favourable result. Searching for very small craft in such a large area will be difficult, so it would help if we had a little more information about their speed, course settings and how long since they set off. When we discovered your radio signals they made a conical shape within space. Would you say that was the same as the course that sleeper ships have taken?=/\= Glen asked the First.

=/\= The sleeper ships were on course each for the three system’s we and you visited, in each case we found no sign of them sadly, and must presume them lost to the Void. Unless some anomaly knocked them off course or speed they would each have reached the systems we went too by about a 8 or so years ago locally..=/\= The First explained. =/\= If you wish to search I will not stop you of course, but I would not want you to waste your time or energy on a fruitless search that we have already covered. In truth I would feel better given our own troubles as you put it if you accompanied us directly. =/\= She stated hopefully. Perhaps having some doubt in the validity of her own ship and people’s ability to use the FTL capable drive safely yet.

=/\= if you so wish, the Merrimack will accompany you to entire way =/\= replied Glen, =/\= however, we do have shuttlecraft they could keep up with you. Anyhow, I think we can search while we ride. I’m sure that my science staff need some diversion to keep them occupied.=/\=

Glen contacted the Merrimack.

=/\= Glen to Grey. We’ll be returning soon and accompanying the alien ship to their homeworld of Alstair Prime. This will take three and half days at Warp 1. They sent out three sleeper ships to the three different systems that they visited, the same that we have followed them to. These sleeper ships unaccounted for. This seems a little strange given how slow they were travelling. They left eight years ago, so about 1,836 km/hour, not taking acceleration and deceleration in to consideration. Most likely they overshot. Can we start long range scanners to make a search for them while we travel? =/\=

-Glen, CO

The response came immediately, the soft Scottish accent coming out of the communicator =^=Yes, Captain. We’ll set the scanners for the parameters you’ve given us. Will any of the locals be visiting the ship?=^=
