I’ve been trying to revive my interest and I’m finding it difficult. I haven’t been the XO or the player that this fabulous crew has needed and I apologize. I think I need to step away for a while.

I can still be reached on Discord (KevlarDolphin#7296) and Facebook (Jud Bennett) if anyone wants to talk or ask questions.

Thanks for the good times and the patience.

Ignore this, I’m going to try to push through this. Your continued patience will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Merrimack crew,

Thanks to everyone for sticking with the ship during the quiet December and Christmas period and the lack of posting by Robert. You are all experienced members of STF and I’m sure you can think of ways to progress the Sim and keep your own threads going. I plan for the Captain to meet with Kord and Tia for a progress report on the engine repair and then make a tour of the Alstair ship and speak to everyone individually if that helps. If you start some alt-Sim threads then I will try to join them.

I don’t ask why people are not posting as much, I fear too much for the replies given the pandemic. Nor can I do anything to stop you leaving if that is what you need to do. However, we have lost two members last months and I don’t think we can survive losing any more. This is sad because October and November were probably the most active period on the Merrimack for many years and the posts were excellent.

One thing I will add. We may be in the grip of a global pandemic, but medicine cannot cure what happiness cannot. In these times of isolation and loneliness, it is important to escape from the real world on occasions, to stop watching current affairs, and not to dwell on personal woes. Since many people are not allowed out of the house, or only for limited essential reasons, then role-playing on STF seems like just the ticket to me. It could be a great way to improve your mental health. So, do think about that aspect before you decide to leave.

Please also take some daily exercise, outdoors if possible, and meet people by Zoom or over the garden fence. We are social animals!

Wishing you all the best in the New Year

Dave
