Main Sim - Alstair Prime - Landing Party Luncheon

Posted April 18, 2021, 2:42 a.m. by Captain John Tiberius Glen (Captain) (David Fergusson)

[snip]

Glen indicated his permission for his crew to eat whatever was offered to them. He was expecting to see clean plates afterwards. Glen had eaten Andorian Redbat and Klingon Gagh before. In all honesty, nothing in the galaxy could taste worse than those.

Kord tried the fish.

Glen decided that it might be good practice to differentiate the meals between Kord and himself just in case one fell ill from the food. That is, unless they were expected to finish off everything that had been laid out on the tables, clearly enough to feed several starships! So, Glen tried the large roasted bird.

The various Council and Advisor Alstairians took their own samples of food, things quieting down for a bit as everyone would and could eat their fill. The food and drink were quite delicious and well prepared, hearty and satisfying.

But was the seating plan equally as well prepared and satisfying?, Glen thought. Were the men seated altogether or spaced out between the Alstairean females? Where was Inola seated? Glen would need her to translate. No, everyone would need some help with translation here. It isn’t only the food that can cause furrowed brows at these functions. Poor seating arrangements have resulted in wars before now.

The First was the first to break the pause in the talks to look to Kord, =/\=..Commander Kord, I am wishing if you could relate a tale of your travels with your Captain to the Council. If such is allowed, the more we know of what is out there the better prepared we might be and the Council better informed to decide how to handle future meetings with your Federation and other powers that your Captain mentioned.=/\= She asked.

Kord stood.

“I’ll tell you what I can.”

Kord then gave an introduction any tour guide service would be proud of. He covered the UFP, the surrounding territories, and the major races outside the UFP that Star Fleet dealt with on a daily basis. He kept everything he said in a neutral information only context with no embellishments. He could have gone on for hours but he did his best to keep it down to about thirty minutes.

Inola did her best to translate new ideas, closing gaps left by the Universal translator.

=/\= You should also probably know that Kord’s travels with his Captain are only a small fraction. He is a 40,000-year-old Cheron, and quite possibly the last of his race. As such, he has a much greater knowledge of the Universe, far beyond that which the UFP Library computers can remember. I just wish that he wasn’t quite so reserved about it. =/\=
