Liz smiled a half-smile at the chief scientist, the tiniest glint of mischief showing in her blue eyes. “I’m not going to snap at you, young man, I’m here to help. It’s okay to relax your posture a little bit.”

Neutral faced William raised an eyebrow at the Doctor “I am relaying your orders lieutenant nothing more” He continued in his formal tone as he turned his gaze back on the shuttlecraft “As for your snapping” He eyed the older woman coldly “That concerns me little” He seemed to ignore the comment regarding his posture.

Dr. Jasper regarded the science officer with some bemusement. He seemed to be trying very, very hard to be professional and all-business, to the point that she thought he might sprain his verterbrae.

“That’s fair,” she replied, deciding to try a different approach to get the science officer to open up. “As chief science officer, what’s your take on the situation planet-side? Have you gotten to see any of it for yourself?”

Behind her, Riv’mokk and Greg started loading their medkits and scanning equipment into the shuttle, largely ignoring the conversation between the science officer and the doctor.

William shook his head “Captain decided that I could do with a few hours in Command” He answered simply “Going over to the sleeper ship will be my first in-person interaction with the local alien population. So far I’d say it’s been a fairly standard first contact excluding rescuing that vessel” He paused and cocked his head “Perhaps including it, I’ve not been present at many first contact missions before so my personal experience is limited.”
