Behind her, Riv’mokk and Greg started loading their medkits and scanning equipment into the shuttle, largely ignoring the conversation between the science officer and the doctor.
William shook his head “Captain decided that I could do with a few hours in Command” He answered simply “Going over to the sleeper ship will be my first in-person interaction with the local alien population. So far I’d say it’s been a fairly standard first contact excluding rescuing that vessel” He paused and cocked his head “Perhaps including it, I’ve not been present at many first contact missions before so my personal experience is limited.”

“Fairly standard is a relative term, I guess. Is there a reason why we’re transporting by shuttle instead of utilizing our transporters? One would think that would be more efficient.”
Before Liz could continue, Riv’mokk and Greg walked back up to the doctor and indicated that the shuttle was fully loaded.
“Well, Mister Grey, it looks like the shuttle is ready for us. Want me to bring back any souvenirs for you from the surface?”
William blinked in mild surprise at the question but answered quickly “Perhaps any cultural data you can discover; art, poetry or music” He turned back to shuttle “The Captain only said that he wished to have a shuttle on the ground, perhaps a security precaution in case I have to take the Merrimack somewhere again”
