Main Sim - Alstair Prime - Landing Party Tour

Posted July 18, 2021, 4:17 a.m. by Captain John Tiberius Glen (Captain) (David Fergusson)

A petite red-haired woman in a Starfleet uniform, flanked by a vaguely reptilian officer with inky, dilated eyes the size of saucers, and a diminutive balding man, walked up to the Captain’s group, each carrying medical kits.

“Captain, gentlemen,” she said by way of introduction. “I don’t believe we’ve been formally introduced. Doctor Elizabeth Jasper at your service, along with my physician’s assistant, Rivv’mokk, and my head nurse, Ensign St. Georges. I figured we should probably touch base with your group before we head off to visit the local hospitals.”

“Glad you could join us Doctor,” replied Glen. “I’m afraid you’ve missed the food! We will be visiting the transport hub and training facilities before touring the medical complexes, but tag along anyway.”

As the rest of the landing party got aboard the monorail the doors slid shut and the rail car began to move slowly picking up high speed. Thankfully and jostling around was minimized by gravity-momentum compensators. Within a moment the rail car slowed again opening to the lower portions of the monorail station hug transit they had viewed from above earlier. They were now in the thick of its carefully setup structure.

“Anything that you particularly wanted to see here, Kord?” Glen asked his XO. “It looks much like any other railway station or spaceport in the galaxy to me; a seamless, secure and safe flow of busy passengers, hurrying between platforms and a multitude of fast food concession stores.”

Kord was observing. It was efficient for sure but was there a dirty underside? Kord was watching for indications of those dispossessed by society. In many cultures they had a tendency to gather at places of mass transit or nearby.

“I’m just looking at the moment Captain.” Kord replied to Glen.

Then Captain Glen thought to himself, maybe Kord is looking for the soft underbelly of this society; at the street litter and cleanliness, and whether there is any graffiti or political messages, or pet fouling, abandoned vehicles or fly-tipping, whether there are people who look homeless or property in a state of dis-repair. An excellent idea! A transport hub would be as good a place as any to observe that sort of thing! And it has all seemed quite too perfect!

Kord’s keen eyes would quickly take in that no signs of ‘underside’ seemed evident, nor was there really any indication of those ‘disposed by society’. In fact it was quite the contrary. As he watched he would see some Alstair younglings going out of their way to help an elderly one down some steps. Repair work by others was in evidence too showing efficient maintenance and well cared for people. Overall people looked quite healthy and organized.

Then there was a sound above them, like a roaring sound making a sudden ‘crack’ like the thunder of the gods bringing down a wrathful hammer. Before any real words or action could be taken something slammed into the tunnel system a quarter a mile away from them! The wracking shockwave sending everyone to the ground. The explosion and resulting fires soon springing up had cries of panic and for help soon materializing. Dust clouds soon engulfed the area and air making everything hard to see more then a few feet in front of them and hard to breathe.

Whether it was a few seconds or a few minutes the ringing in the landing parties ears and distant cries for help were muffled from whatever had happened. As their ears cleared a bit they could see the First Captain groggily getting to her feet coughing. Through the static of the UT they could make out her words as =/\= What.....what happened? =/\=

Sirens began to blare then both nearby and in the distance, sounding like emergency response vehicles assumingly.

Captain Glen was thrown to the ground like everyone else, but managed to roll out of the way of the falling objects. His head hurt from the fall but that appeared to be his only injury. He was choking on the cloud of dust and could smell smoke from burning. It was in his eyes, so he could not see anyone else, but he managed to locate his communicator. He took it out of his pocket and flipped it open. He hoped NE Kahuna was able to step up to the job. He had great faith in him! Glen held the commincator close to his mouth and he spoke in a hoarse voice, his mouth dry and chalky.

=/\= Captain Glen to the Merrimack! Come in Merrimack! Is that Lieutenant NE Kahuna? …Good! You have the Merrimack, Lieutenant. She is in your hands. Secure her and do not leave the Bridge. Find out what just happened down here? Full sensor scan sweeps! We have a medical emergency here at the Central Transport Hub! Doubtless multiple causalities, many probably serious and possible fatalities too! I smell fires and there will be widespread damage to buildings and infrastucture. Possibly an explosion or an air attack by an unknown threat. I need answers quick! And maintain a full Amber security alert.Oh! And inform Lieutenant Ezial and Lieutenant Grey. You can do this! =/\=

Glen tried to see if he could crawl or sit up. However, he was concerned, will there be aftershocks or secondary bombs, whatever the hell this is anyway?
