Main Sim - Bridge - Ensign Hercules Kahuna Steps Up

[snip]

=/\= Captain Glen to the Merrimack! Come in Merrimack! Is that Lieutenant NE Kahuna? …Good! You have the Merrimack, Lieutenant. She is in your hands. Secure her and do not leave the Bridge. Find out what just happened down here? Full sensor scan sweeps! We have a medical emergency here at the Central Transport Hub! Doubtless multiple causalities, many probably serious and possible fatalities too! I smell fires and there will be widespread damage to buildings and infrastructure. Possibly an explosion or an air attack by an unknown threat. I need answers quick! And maintain a full Amber security alert. Oh! And inform Lieutenant Ezial and Lieutenant Grey. You can do this! =/\=

Following instructions, Ensign Kahuna relayed the Captain’s message to the shuttle, sounded an Amber alert aboard the Merrimack, and instructed the NE at Science to perform the sensor scans. =/\= Lieutenants Ezial and Grey, this is Ensign Kahuna. The Captain says that there has been some kind of incident on Alstair; multiple causalities, some possibly fatal, fire and damage from an explosion. I’m performing scans and the Merrimack is at Amber alert. Ensign Kahuna out! =/\=

=^=Understood Ensign Kahuna, please keep us informed of any developments no matter how minor, keep an active transporter lock on all away team members=^= Was the answer from the CSO

=/\= Aye Sir =/\= replied Kahuna. He contacted the Transport Chief to have a Transporter Lock placed on the landing party. There was so much to learn about commanding the Bridge and so little time to do it.

Playing back the sensor logs the Merrimack picked up a small basketball or so sized asteroid that had entered the planet’s atmosphere undetected by either the Merrimack (since no one was really looking for anything like that threatening) and the primitive Alstair sensor network to pick up such things as they had mentioned in their talks to the Captain. The asteroid had made it through the atmosphere and a still sizable amount from there had impacted near the landing party causing the problems indicated by impact, shockwave, and secondary explosions. Kahuna relayed the senor log findings back to the Captain and to the team away at the Sleeper ship, as requested =/\= A small basketball sized asteroid entered the planet’s atmosphere and made it to the surface as a still sizable amount. “Expand sensor scan sweeps! Calculate area of origin for asteroid and examine for further bodies,” instructed Hercules.
