The First came over, answering Kord’s query. =/\= While our detection net is for our science advanced, it still has failure rates, it is by no means perfect sadly.=/\= She stated sombrely, nearby more cries for help came in bits and fits, as emergency response workers arrived to help the wounded. Looking that way the First spoke again. =/\= I should think we should go see if we can be of further help. Unless you would wish to return to your ship?=/\= she asked.

“We can only assist in a limited scope, but I’m happy to help as needed within that scope.” Kord said to the First gesturing for her to lead the way.

“Indeed!” replied Glen. “We are here to help in your current emergency, but long-term we need to get you a solution so that you don’t have to live in constant peril, afraid for your lives!”

“There are planets which live with the threat of meteorite strikes on a daily basis,” continued Glen. “Federation membership would allow access to grants and engineers who could install asteroid impact avoidance systems. These would identify objects on a potential collision course with Alstair from space. For the smaller objects, these are rendered harmless by fragmenting the impactor and scattering the fragments so that they would miss Alstair, while larger objects would be diverted away, preventing destructive deep impact events. 66 million years ago a deep impact collision between Earth and an object approximately 10 kilometres wide caused a mass extinction of the species of life at that time. “

Kord nodded in agreement as he continued to look to see if others might need his assistance.

The groups looking did not have to go too far, everywhere their were injured hobbling or laying in shock. Thankfully more and more rescue crews were arriving so their looking drew them to the more central area of impact. Not too far off smoking and steaming was the remains of the asteroid that had impacted the planet. Now barely a hand fist in size it had left almost a 10 foot deep impact crater which was already filling with water from a nearby busted pipeline and fountain.

The First it seems was the first to notice something amiss, =/\= ..I hear someone! By the Abyss how could anyone have survived an impact! Quickly we must search for the source! =/\= She declared. Mutely now that attention had been called to it the landing party could hear a muted cry of some kind near where the asteroid was and where water was filling the impact crater.

Perhaps a tricorder scan could hasten their search?

Glen asked John Jefferies, “Set the tricorder to scan for life signs. Someone could be under this rubble.”

When someone would deem to scan for lifesigns they picked up two Alstairian life signs, one middle aged the other younger aged beneath the rubble where water was slowly rising up.

Jefferies would obviously pass this vital information along, once he had scanned.

Glen didn’t think that this time they had enough time to remove the rubble by hand. The rising water would surely drown the two Alstaireans before they were reached.

=/\= Glen to the Merrimack. Two Alstairean life-sign readings at this location but below ground. They need immediate transport to our Sickbay. Please get a lock on them and beam them aboard. One is middle aged the other younger aged, both caught by falling rubble. Please advise when you have done so, Kahuna. =/\=

There was a long pause before the rock began to sink some slowly and the cries faded out........

Finally after another moment the transporter chief came over comms =/\= We got two Alstairians one older one a child both are on their way to sickbay, they got battered limbs and possible internal compression injuries. We also got some of the asteroid up here. Mostly its made of copper and iron..=/\= He reported.

Looking to Glen the First it seems did not fully comprehend things through the UT. =/\= Did they get those trapped out safely? =/\= She asked.

Glen replied to her, =/\= For the love of mercy, I hope so! They have been safely transported aboard the Merrimack but they do have some injuries resulting from the impact. They are being taken to our Sickbay for treatment by our doctors. We can confirm that this was the site of the meteorite crater as we picked up a chunk of that too! Your planet has done extremely well to develop at all under an excessive planetary pressure such as this kind of cratering. =/\=

Kord was going around giving first aid to civilians that would accept his help.
