It was a clear line to bid the landing party farewell, they had done mostly what they set out to do, and it was clear the Alstair Council was not about to budge into rapid decisions for their people. This was the way some diplomatic events happened as Glen no doubt knew, First Contact didn’t always mean a new member, usually it meant laying the floor plan for a second or third contact by others down the line.

Glen was disappointed, to say the least. This was another First Contact mission that had failed. Not quite as bad as starting an intragalactic war, but he had failed to get the Alstaireans to agree to sign up to the Federation, and while it was true that it was the Second Contact missions that always the dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s, it had been his job to make that happen. There was little that he could do about it though, the Alstaireans just worked at a slower speed, given there longer lifespans. That was something that he had often spoken with Kord about, as Kord had a unique viewpoint within Starfleet personnel, being practically immortal himself. Glen appreciated that they needed more time, and this wasn’t a negative answer, merely a ‘we need to think about this’. Sometime in the future, they would join the UFP, of that he was sure.

With nothing else to be doing they may as well return to the Merrimack and see how the sleeper ship team was doing.

=/\= Thank you for your hospitality. I think we have a much better understanding of how Alstair works now and we’ll keep in contact. We appreciated the honour. For now, I think it’s time my team returned to the Merrimack and we found out how the team on your Sleeper ship is getting on. I won’t keep you from your work any longer. =/\= Glen told the First.

=/\= Glen to Merrimack - Come in, Merrimack. We have seven to beam up. Prepare to beam us up. Please update me on the second Sleeper ship as soon as possible. =/\= Glen told the Transporter Chief.

Glen was missing the Captain’s chair.

Dismissing the landing party in the Transporter Room, Glen went directly to the Bridge.

“Ensign Kahuna, status report please,” Glen asked, “…and what news from the team away at the second Sleeper Ship?”

-Glen, CO

Hal also went to the bridge. He took the tactical station, where he began to run standard diagnostics on the weapons and defensive systems.

“It sure feels good to be back home,” he remarked to nobody in particular.
