Sal waited patiently for the reply from the away team, one of the advisors to Sal nearby also waiting spoke up offering a suggestion. “..Perhaps our guests would like a tour of one of our cultural centers? Or given they arrived here after locating one of our Seed Pods we could begin there?” he offered.

Sal nodded to the suggestions, then looked to the XO and the others for a response.

Sal asked which would be the first thing they wanted to see ,Cross hoped the Cmdr had enough sense to see the pods and not some boring culture, it seemed the doctor had got something right from the beginning.......... that the technology used for the pods did indeed came from another species.

“I’d love to see a Cultural Centre,” said Cara. Anything is better than the inside of a tram, she thought.

Lance didn’t have a hard time keeping an eye on dr. Cross but he had a good idea how to keep her close. She quietly walked towards her and grabbed onto her arm “do you mind if I walk with you I’m trying to study myself” he held on to her keeping her close as he pretend to study himself.

Cross looked at Lance as if he had suddenly sprouted two antennas from the top of his head ‘’Would all due respect Lt do you actually take me for a fool?’‘ the doctor asked ‘’Holding on to the Cmdr would be a better alternative and has it occurred to you that since you’re not steady on your feet, I as the Chief Medical Officer could send you to rest back in the shuttle for a couple of hours’‘ Cross said in the sweetest tone.

Joe couldn’t hear the words but he heard the tone of what the good doctor was telling the poor Lieutenant. He could only sigh and shake his head and hope that the day and the tour moved along faster and more smooth than it had been thus far.

Cross looked around at the rest of the team wondering if they were in some kind of trance .She raised her hand, the one Lance wasn’t holding on’‘The pods please ‘’ keeping her voice calm suppressing any kind of emotion the doctor was feeling ‘’After all that’s what brought us here in the first place ‘’.

‘’Lt Lance I promise I’m not going anywhere ‘’ she told him ‘’But if you feel more at ease holding my arm then go ahead…truly I don’t mind’‘ .

Cross wondered why Cara was so adamant to see the culture center Most probably more tin foils she thought too herself,finishing it off with a heavy sigh.

Joe smiled at Sal and said simply, “Well that sounds like the beginning of an itinerary. We’ll see the cultural center first then go to see the pods. Myself I wouldn’t mind seeing your recycle facilities.”

Joe knew that Cross would probably be angry but she should have been paying attention instead of trying to belittle the security chief . “Okay everyone let’s go! ” he said with a large grin and the certain knowledge that the doctor would without a doubt complain to him before the days end.

Lance leaned in so only cross can hear him “ listen doc XO wants me to keep an eye on you. Please don’t make my first away mission too hard” he said with a little annoyance. He felt like that Dr. Cross was old enough and was trained enough to not cause trouble.

‘’Lt please do not worry,some times the Cmdr suffers from a bit of paranoia thinking I’m going to disappear just a fragment of his imagination. I’ll be honest with you its the children I want to see ,how the orphans are being treated,whose taking care of them…are they being nurtured or manipulated? ‘’ Cross made eye contact with Lance hoping he understood her concerns,duty and above all......... her priority as a medical officer.

Lance looked at her “ I understand for your concern of orphan children it may not look like it they care about the orphans also when I was growing up I was orphaned also” he said “ but still there is a way we do things just don’t lose your self” he said with a half smile

The female doctor stood silent for a moment,pondering on what Lance had just said ‘’ You’re right Lt ,guess we tend to think about our own life experience unable or to be more precise tend to disregard any other alternative ‘’.

Maybe going to the culture center first wasn’t a bad idea after all and for the first time Cross gave him a genuine smile.

Sal nodded after a moment, turning back to the operator she informed him where they were to go, with a beep the doors shut on the tram car and it began to slowly accelerate down the tube. Turning back to the group Sal said, “..We should be there in about 2 minutes or so. Our cultural center is several levels down from here, and takes up a good percentage of that area of the habitat as it is home to many of our common recreational, educational, and such facilities that focus on our society as a whole. Our common schooling system for our youth for example are contained there..” she said.

Cross sat down and listened attentively.

Glancing back the operator who was working a speed control monitor spoke, “..Provided we are not delayed, they could also take in the local elementary youth’s sports match up! The Star Primes are facing off against the Moss Crawlers in another hour or so. I think it’s Gravball today.” he said.

It seemed that this trip would be quite interesting after all, unlike what she initially thought ,Sal seemed genuine and yet Cross could never fully trust anyone she hardly knew, it all stemmed to the life the doctor had experienced.

Hearing yet another possible location name to visit , the muscles in the side of Joe’s neck began to pulse. It has taken nearly thirty minutes just to get everyone going in this direction. So he spoke then saying then to Sal ,”Let us stick to the agreed upon schedule for the moment and then later we can change things around a bit. We’ll see the location that our good doctor wants to see next thank you.”
