Sickbay - Hunter

Posted June 24, 2022, 3:37 a.m. by Crewman Faith Hopkins (Yeoman) (David Fergusson)

Hunter’s shift was about to start he made his way to sickbay whistling softly as usual ,rounding the corner those present would recognize the doctor was coming. He seemed to be in a good mood that is until he saw the crewman who had came with a broken nose and thanks to the Cmdr his impeccably career was blemished and tarnished.

A nurse came forward and gave the doctor a padd ‘’Doctor he said he had a broken finger but the scan showed nothing ,then he wanted another scan with a different tricoder cause he said the one I had was broken and to be honest I left him sitting there and went back to my duties’‘.

Hunter marched towards the crewman but this time he took a different approach, pulling a chair the doctor sat down opposite the ‘suppose’ injured man ‘’If I remember correctly your name is Seth right? ‘’ the man opposite him nodded.
‘’Lets have a heart to heart chat shall we ?’‘.

Seth nodded though Hunter realized the man was repetitive swallowing ,sweating, staring down at his own feet all signs of either anxiety or guilt. The doctor kept his tone of voice neutral and toned-down ‘’Seth in which Dept are you stationed?’‘.

The man did not look up and simple responded ‘’ In cargo bay mostly’‘. Hunter rubbed at his chin while asking ‘’ Are you satisfied with working there?’‘ to which the crewman shook his head from side to side ‘’Now Seth tell me is that the reason you visit Sickbay frequently?’‘ this time he nodded.
Seeing his trembling chin and any color draining from his face Hunter got a bit closer ‘’Its okay Seth there is no need to worry I’m simple trying to help’‘.
(to be continued)

Faith arrived at Sickbay but didn’t want to interrupt Dr Hunter when he was with a patient, so she sat down on a seat near an empty biobed while the screens were pulled closed. She had a tablet to deliver with a list of the medical check-up appointment for today. Faith had always wanted to be a children’s nurse. She often wished that she hadn’t had to drop out of Starfleet Medical, and that she could resume those studies one day. Being a Yeoman doesn’t have many prospects. She’d missed the application date for the current year’s entry once again, so she would be applying for next year.
