”..Hmm..” Dol said nodding, “..I see, financially there is not too much we need that the system or our habitat does not already provide. Obviously we wish to continue to grow though and expand our lively hood here, and having such minerals if you say to trade to interested parties would allow that. But as you also say it could attract unsavory elements, and though we have means to defend ourselves in general, it really would just result in this habitat’s destruction and a sizable chunk of the various moons or such in places on them..” Dol then seemed to drift into thought as if realizing how such a discovery and impact would vastly change how his culture and people would have to change and adapt compared to how they had lived for generations since coming here hundreds of years ago. His thought made him peer out a small window port nearby where the view was of the local solar star just peeking over the edge of the nearby planet the habitat orbited.

Glen also looked out of the window port to see what Dol was looking at.

Dol seemed to be observing the nearby planet the habitat orbited around, watching the sun rise over its edge.

“It must take a great deal of energy to keep a Habitat in place,” Glen said. “I merely thought that expansion by way of building more Habitats would require even more energy, effort and materials. I didn’t wish to alarm you. My ship is one of exploration, but you lie on the edge of our known space, so I have little to no information about this region to pass on to you. Your space seed missions must have contacted many other worlds already, and from what you told me, they were all friendly to you, so I don’t think it needs to be an immediate concern to you.”

”..You are correct Captain Glen, our choice to build our habitat out as we have for generations has likely reached its peak for any further realistic expansion. It has been a growing concern of myself and the past two Dols who have held my position to figure out a solution. The most obvious is to begin building another habitat like this one. We have the technology to do it, and the minerals here in the system to support it as well. Time is not overly pressing either as according to our projections we have at least another 100 or so years until living space and food/energy productions would be impacted. Less then that time would be needed to begin building a livable area to grow on..” he said.

“Or, is it your former slave overseers who you are afraid of?” Glen asked. “Surely, that happened so long ago that they would have forgotten you by now? Can you tell me any more about them as I don’t recognize them from the brief description that you gave, and the Federation has encountered hundreds of different worlds.”

-Glen, CO

There was a small crease of a smile to Dol’s lips. “..Our old masters? Not so much really. We have been here as I said for well on 600 years. If they have not found us by now, they likely have left us for dead. The other reason is they are possibly still digging themselves out of the ruins of their civil war that gave us the distractions needed to overthrow them to begin with. I suppose though I did neglect to give you any pictures of them..” he mused by the end, turning he went over to a console. Typing in a command in a search window, the computer beeped and whirred as then a rough composite hand drawing came up. The hand drawn picture was well drawn, it showed a humanoid race which had a very rich deep brown skin tone. They had the usual two eyes, nose and mouth, but their eyes were wider spaced then a humans and more narrow. The nose was larger in shape and the mouth hinted that their diet probably consisted more of meat then say vegetables. Soft ridges along the upper brows and back to their ears on the upper side of their heads was also evident. The alien off hand did not match anything Glen would recognize off the top of his head. “..These were our masters, we never got told their names, or if our ancestors had it has since been lost to time. We do know they came from the stars and conquered our world easily ruling it as part of their claims for at least 200 years before our uprising. Whether the civil war that allowed us the distraction to escape was just on our planet or part of a larger civil war in their region of influence I can not say..” he said.

OOC: So, to be clear, you are saying this is NOT a TOS/Enterprise/Strange New Worlds/Discovery/Pre-TNG race that Glen would have met or have been briefed about?

Are you able to tell me if this IS a TNG/DS9/VOY/Below Decks or an exisiting Star-Fleet.com race if it is not a spoiler?

-Dave

OOC: It is 100% a race not shown in any trek or trek books, nor is it an approved stf race :) they’re mentioning here is just for the cultural learning of this first contact and for now at least nothing more (i doubt i will expand on them but who knows with me!)

Tia glanced over at the Dol and Captain. “If another habitat is your intention, is there anything that would make that a bit easier for you that, perhaps, we might be able to provide?” She glanced knowingly at the Captain. “I can’t guarantee we can provide it. But knowing what would help might give us an idea of what we could provide.”

The idea of building another habitat as amazing as this has Tia’s mind racing. She’d have to wait till a moment alone with the Captain. But an idea was forming already.
