Joe had finally compiled all the reports that he needed and was now behind with everything else. He had gotten some sleep had a shower and changed uniforms and was now walking out onto the bridge. Looking about to make sure that things hadn’t been moved somewhere else since the last time he had been there he finally walked to the command chair and sat down. Looking down at the two more than capable looking officers at the helm he paused for an instant and said, Navigator, plot us a course for the nearest station. Helmsman, make our speed warp five please.”

Lt.Cmdr. Joe Milligan XO

Stanley, now that all the furor of a new encounter had died down sought once more just to find his way around the ship. Mostly to help his own fear and phobia of shooting through the endless darkness of space in a glorified tin can. And while he was at it to get to better get acquainted with people. For it hadn’t taken him long to figure out that he had a public relations problem. So once more he walked out onto the bridge. Looking around the place he found it empty save for one of the people he wanted to speak with at any rate.

Stanley smiled sweetly in Joe’s direction and was unnerved. For he found a look in Joe’s eyes that people often found in his own but could never figure out what was going on with him. For Joe was sitting quietly watching every move Stanley made. Stanley realized that Joe was trying to read his body language! It then occurred to Stanley that this was probably only part and parcel of Milligan’s personality if you were to believe his service record. For anyone to have gotten into as many scuffles as Joe had and still come out in any decent condition at one had to have the ability to read one’s opponent. All the same Stanley’s eyes lit up and he clapped his hands together in front of his face before saying, “Ah Commander Milligan! We finally get to meet I see!”

OOC: Small reminder the return of the seed pod child happened at the close of the last sim which i mentioned in the wrap up. I’ll roll this into starting the next sim though!

As the ship was merrily trucking along at warp 2, two weeks later, heading back to DS-K5 another comm call came in, =/\= Commander, we got a relayed hail coming from Earth Spacedock from Admiral Forester. =/\= she said.

Once the call came up the elderly 80 some year old Admiral came up on the screen. =/\= Good evening Commander, I know the Merrimack is currently back on route to Deep Space K-5 but your orders are to be changed. You are to set course for the Klingon-Federation border, warp 7 immediately. By our estimates you should arrive there in the next 6 hours at current speed. =/\= He said pausing to let the order be carried out.

Once this was done he continued, =/\= As you know the Klingons the past few years have been scaling back their border region claims as per our agreements with the Khitomer Accords since Praxis. Their latest cut backs are in releasing a few colonies and outposts near the Federation Border that house several pre-warp primitive civilizations they enslaved for the past 20-30 years. As a result of these pull outs they are either leaving us to clean up the mess, or releasing the societies to figure things out on their own. Either way we’re relaying Starships to get things figured out. The Merrimack is to head to the Wal system to Wal-3. Its a class-m world which the Klingons took over 25 years ago in one of their expansions at the time. The society they enslaved is pre-warp barely out of the bronze age at the time and more or less still in such a state. Their society till the Klingons arrived was strongly religious and the major governmental powers at the time used this to control their populace. The Klingons took advantage of this when they arrived, declaring themselves agents of their gods. This has resulted in them becoming aware of other space faring powers being equally ‘agents/devils’ of their gods over the years. The sudden pull out of the Klingons with their mining efforts and presence over the populace lives without any reason has sent turmoil running through the populace and tribal governments as they seem to feel the Klingons suddenly leaving is an abandonment of their gods agents in them doing something wrong. Normally the Prime Directive would say we not get involved, but the Accords say we need too to stabilize the region of any systems the Empire releases. In this case this agreement binds us to interfere at least so far to stabilize the cultures and planets to not become hot spots in the future, even if they would be hundreds of years hence.=/\= He explained.

=/\= Your orders are to arrive on station, beam down, and assess the current impacts, given they are already aware of the Federation as ‘devils/demons’ you will probably need to face an uphill battle of gaining good will. You’re to take what actions you need to do so, and then stabilize the situation planet wide. Any and all means is open to you except by use of force or installing yourselves or the Federation as their new ‘agents of their gods’. Keep us updated on your progress. Data packs are being sent to brief your departments and crew. Forester out =/\= he said as the screen faded.

OOC: Bump!
