On hearing the Captain calling his name Hunter made his way to the specified Transporter Room .If Glen would allow he could pick up a medical kit from there . Hunter was not sure if the team was expected to change their uniform for ordinary clothes. The doctor waited for the rest of the assigned crew to assemble.

Max arrived at transporter room two. He noticed it had only been about 10 minute since the order was given. He assumed he would be the first one there. He decided it would be alright to enter early. He walked through the door and took a look around. He saw the Medical Officer was there and he was speaking with the Cheif. He did not want to interrupt. He just stood there for a second to let that conversation complete before saying anything.

While Cara Meow had been excused from this landing party, Glen had asked her to replicate some clothing and items in the same style that she had seen the natives wearing when she had been down on the planet earlier. The landing party, or ‘the away team’ as Joe had begun calling it, could take their pick from the piles laid out on a table by Yeoman Hopkins. Phasers and medical equipment was also allowed. There were no General Order Number One restrictions on this mission, all such considerations having been totally ruined by the former Klingon occupation of the planet.

Hunter realized there were some clothes, making his way to the lot he chose the largest trousers though once he put it on found it was just a couple of inches below his knees, the shirt was not much better .Seeing a cap the doctor snatched it before anyone else did ,after all he had to hid his shoulder length blond hair .

Looking down at himself he thought Great now soot and dirt from the planet and I would look just like I have come out from a Charles Dickens books.. a real vagabond!

After watching Pashi make great progress speaking with the native girl, Captain Glen made his way to Transporter Room 2. He had expected to be first there because he had wanted to chew the cud with NE Transporter Chief Banks. One of the reports on his desk this morniing had concerned the Transporter Room 1 operational efficiency. However, on his arrival, Glen was surprised when he found that Hunter and Mulllins were already there waiting.

Lance entered with the box of common phasers not Star fleet. He even design a holster that was well hidden. After he got his on and holster in place he took a phaser checked the power cell then put it into the holster. The clothes he had on was the same clothes he wore last time.

Hunter was sitting down on one of the steps that led to the transporter pads, he had omitted taking a phaser, instead the doctor had a medical kit beside him. Giving Glen and Mullins a curt nod,his brain started to go over what could go wrong as they were being transported and shuddered at the very thought.

“Good afternoon,” Glen said to the assembled crew before going over to speak with NE Transporter Chief Banks. “Hi Chief,” said Glen. “Have you managed to reconfigure the tranporter beam to solve that problem with the unstable annular confinement beam frequencies to maintain the subject pattern in the buffers for the whole of the rematerialisation cycle yet?” he asked the Chief. “Ah! Yes!” replied Chief Banks, “It wasn’t that at all. There was a faulty component in one of the Heisenberg compensators that needed to be replaced. Now it is working just fine and dandy!”

Verity arrived in the transporter room with Mullins. “So what’s going on she asked the CO. “Tell me we are not going back down to that planet. Who knows what we will bring back this time.”

My thoughts exactly! Hunter thought but said nothing remembering the Captain was not a fan of his but then he questioned if this was the right way to go about it,why danger the lives of the team and the rest of the crew? .

“We got no useful response from speaking with the Klingons, and the girl is far too young to have useful information, so to find out more about the bacteria, we’ll need to go back down to the planet and speak with other villagers,” Glen replied to Verity. “The bactria has been cleared as being dangerous, it just appears to boost certain senses and muscles. As a symbiotic organism, it could be a blessing to us, and to be of great benefit medicinally. Anyhow, we still have our original mission to complete. We need to speak to people on the planet to do that. The CMO can continue to study and work on the bacteria while we are down there.”

The CMO had left the psychiatrist’s office and made her way to the transporter room 2,once there she looked around those that were present. On seeing Glen Cross approached him ‘’Captain, I do need to speak to you in private ‘’ whether Stan had followed her or not she did not know ,if he did the doctor wanted him to be present.

“Ah! You appear at the mention of your name!” Glen replied. If it’s important, but we are going to leave as soon as Pashi is finished interviewing the girl. What seems to be the problem?”

Cross nodded, she moved further away from the group then faced Glen ‘’Captain why are the team not dressed in protective clothing? ‘’ she asked ‘’I do think its illogical to send them down on the planet knowing the first team, some of them came with a bacteria of unknown origin to us ‘’.

“The latest report from the Science department say that it only appears to be a bacteria,” Glen explained to her. “Although it appears to function as a bacteria, it’s actually a symbiotic micro-cellular biogenesis… whatever that is? It probably started out as a simple natural bacterial strain, but in the past 30-40 years the pollution from the Klingons and other factors during that time saw it mutate into a more super primitive symbiotic life form that it is now.”

This was not easy for the doctor but Cross had too say how she felt ‘’Not only are you disregarding their health but also the rest of the crew on this ship once they came back and as the CMO I cannot just take a stand back …No Sir not this time ‘’.

“Doctor Cross… Miriam!” Glen implored her, “No one has got sick from this thing. Remember, you came back and told me that the two NEs didn’t get infected by the airborne microorganism as you had originally thought, but it was traced instead to Chef’s Prawn Vindaloo being undercooked. Please, you have to get a grip here!”

Cross always knew that Glen’s first priority was the well being of the crew before anything else and could not fathom what had changed, she had no idea how he would react .Holding eye contact and not about to mince her words the female doctor went on ‘’ You Captain is acting in an irresponsible way, not showing a proper sense of care or responsibility and lack of judgment’‘.

“Not at all, Doctor!” replied Glen. “There is no danger of anyone getting sick, however, we do need to exercise caution, because we have no idea of the long-term consequences of the muscular or sensory ‘enhancements’ upon the body. This is what I’d like you to investigate while we are away. Find out how Cara’s tail and Joe’s ear recover or develop. We will be careful, but we need to dress as local people and personal protective equipment will need to look like the local clothing. For that reason, I had Cara replicate these clothes with hidden protective linings.”

“Okay.” She said, appreciative of the explanation the Captain gave because she knew he didn’t have to give one. She nodded. “I agree that despite its enhancements of the senses and muscles, and while it does appear to be a significant threat at this time we should proceed with caution.” She stepped on the transporter pad, “I think we should study some of the inhabitants and determine if there are significant long term effects.” She looked at Dr. Cross. “It’s good you are.coming with us this time. We are going to need a lot of tissue and blood samples so we can study and analyze them. We should split the work.”

Cross looked back at the Head of the science dept ‘’Lt Aphelion ,imbalanced, dysbiosis happens .Our gut bacteria is considered symbiosis ,yet if something occurs within the body, a change in the pH becoming more acidic ,oxidative stress, bacteriophages induction and the secretion of bacterial toxins can trigger rapid shifts among intestinal microbial groups thereby yielding dysbiosis which I’m sure you understand that something that is symbiosis could turn to be dangerous, toxic ,harmful and even life-threatening ‘’

Everything I said. Verity thought. Outwardly she presented a tight lipped smile and nodded.

Now she gave up ‘’I’m not on the team doctor Hunter is and I’m sure the Captain would agree with me on this one…he is more diplomatic then I can ever be ‘’.

Yay! she thought. Verity would have chosen work with Dr. Hunter any day over Dr. Cross.

“Doctor Hunter is an excellent physician with a variety of general medical specialisms,” Glen said, “He just needs to work on his bedside manner a little more. Okay, everyone! Let’s get up on the Transporter Pads and get this show on the road!”

Lieutenant j.g. Pashi made her way to the transporter room. She carried with her the universal translator that had finally been able to crack the language of the young child. The mixture of Klingon and native tongue as fascinating. She had read how on Earth when the North American continent had been explored and settled by the Europeans that they had tried to destroy the Indigenous Natives languages. They had succeeded with some tribes, others had done exactly what the natives of this world had and mixed the languages, and others had maintained their native tongue as well as learned the European language. She stepped into the transporter room just as Captain Glen say “Okay, everyone! Let’s get up on the Transporter Pads and get this show on the road!” She hurried up to the transporter pad and handed the captain the universal translator, “Should work for basic communications Sir. Nothing complex as it is still working out the algorithms for their native tongue. They do speak a bastardized form of Klingon.”
