Cross decided to focus on some paper work ,anything to get her mind of what could be happening with the team. From her point of view she had wondered why the Cmdr left the bridge and took a shuttle ,rationalizing he could have at least told her.The Triage had been prepared as the Captain had ordered and now the doctor could only stand by and lie in wait.
Cross CMO.
‘’Want some company doctor ?’‘ Kate asked popping her head inside the office .Cross looked up taking her a few seconds to make out what the nursing officer had just asked .
‘’Sure come in ,take a seat while I make us both some coffee ‘’the female doctor replied ‘’Anything in sickbay ? ‘’she asked while trying to find Hunter’s jar of coffee .
‘’Fairly quiet ‘’ Kate answered back ‘’Any news from the team?’‘ there was a hint of anxiety in her voice as she now looked at Cross coming with two cups of coffee ‘’No nothing yet but the Captain did reassure me that any sign of trouble he’ll get the team back on the ship and told the transporter officer to keep a lock on them at all times ‘’.
Looking at the N.O sipping her coffee Cross could understand why Kate was worried …the fact that they had no knowledge of what was going on with the inhabitants was a source of anxiety and troublesome over actual or potential problems .
