Checking in with the security devision.

“I need to check in with some one, so I can stow some gear and introduce myself, so any senior NCO or an officer will do for now.” He indicated the pallet loaded with cases.

“That should be fine,” replied Guy, “but don’t ask me, I’m just that crewman number six.”

“Well crew man number six, Show me were you keep your EVA suits, I need to store my CES and this here bag needs to go in the the shore party gear locker” Mooney went about the business of stowing his kit and soon was on his way to stow the grave pallet. Thinking back to crewman Guy, * He certainly has snark-* he felt he would enjoy working with him.

“I’m a security officer not a tour guide!” replied Guy with a smile. “Only kidding! Sure! I can show you around the lockers, the Brig, the Vault, the Armoury and the Torpedo Room. This way! Do you need help to pull that?”

Mooney chuckled, “Need? No, dumb enough to turn down help? Again no. “

Despite the impressive name, his combat environment suit was simply a modular EVA suit. The cases contained the components to allow him to reconfigure the basic suit for many hazardous environments, but despite its name it provided little if any protection from combat.

The cases themselves all had his name and service number neatly stenciled on them, tho the cases showed no appreciable wear, the Eva frame it’s self Showed hard use, looking bedraggled next to the other EVA frames. The cases stowed neatly away.

Mooney, stood a moment tracing his stenciled name, memories came to him of the faces of frightened men and women, some not more than children. Please don’t let him be added to the list.

Turning back to Guy with a smile, “how about helping me find a place for this?” Indicating his second go bag. “Then I will be our of your hair for the time being.”

“You can have valuable personal items stored for safe keeping in one of the locked boxes within the ship’s vault, but access to the vault is granted only by senior officer identification. You’ll need to wait until you speak to Lieutenant Brown for that, but if you don’t want to keep it in your quarters, then there are some spare empty lockers in the Gymnasium that are very rarely used,” Guy replied.

Mooney allowed the young man to act as his guide along the way, but the truth was he had memorized to deck plans on the long trip out here.

“So, that was the Brig back there, but we don’t have any guests at the moment. The Armoury is along that way, and this is the Gymnasium through here,” said Guy. “Watch out though, this door frame is quite low… And that’s about all there is down here on the lowest Deck!”

Eyeing the door frame and peaking in to the Gym, “I really don’t have anything valuable to worry about, but if I am going to keep up with you guys I imagine I will be spending more than a little time in here.”

Turning back to Guy, “I take it you haven’t deployed with a corpsmen before?” This is my aid bag and a few odd and ends to help me get you and I back to the ship, so we need to stow it near where we stage for shore parties”

Guy replied, “No, no, I try not to get deployed in case I don’t ever come back again… I expect that you’ll probably want to keep your aid bag somewhere near the two primary transporter rooms… Umm! The only problem is that they are, like nine decks up from here! Crappy design, huh? … Oh! There is this rumour that we have one of the ship’s designers on board, so don’t tell her that I said that!”

“Will you be going to this ‘film night’ tonight?” Guy asked, “It’s a premier of Bucco Rogers In The 31st Century

Guy certainly was smarter than he looked, as Mooney was aware of the high casualty rate among the exploratory fleets security devision.

“That would depend on if I get my gear stowed before end of shift, He laughed. Now he had gone and done it, he had committed.

Guy had somehow thrown himself into his tour guide role now with real relish. “Well, unfortunately movie night takes over the Forecastle Lounge twice a week, otherwise it is usually where the junior officers, enlisted and NE ranks hang out. You can usually get a good game of three dimensional chess, holo-battleship, or fizbit there. The Fantail Lounge is considered as the command staff and VIP lounge, although there is no actual rule that states that we can’t use it.”

“Listen, before you came, I was meant to be doing a monthly inventory of the Armoury weapons lockers, and to have it done yesterday. So, I ought to be getting back to it. Great meeting you though, and I guess I’ll see you at movie night later!” explained Guy.
