Then the movie started, it began with a cut in to a scene of empty space with a voice over of the narrator saying “..The 31st century. A time that has seen of war and peace, struggles and desires. But now it is a time of struggle and war. The devious Colonel Do of planet Terra Alpha has devised a cunning plan to usurp the peaceful Confederation’s Government control from known space. But Colonel Do couldn’t count on the return of....” He said as the music built to a crescendo of epic music. “..Captain Bucco Rogers!!!” It declared as a streaking old styled rocket ship went across the screen with energy weapons blasting at some unseen target.

On the screen the ship cut into a cockpit like scene where the Michael Von Fort playing Bucco Rogers was seen steadying his grip on a control panel. “..Faster Becky Loo! We cant let Colonel Do’s minions escape with those weapon plans!..” he said to Sasha Williams playing his co-star side kick Becky Loo. Rogers was dressed in a golden leather suit and jacket and black boots, with a bandoleer of silver holding two twin styled pistol energy weapons. Loo was dressed in a silver colored leather dress that reached just above her knees with high set boots and twin short machetes on her hips.

”..We’re pushing close to the red line Bucco! Their ship is just faster!” Loo declared.

”..Push it past the red line then! This ole girl can take the punishment!” Rogers said.

”…R…right Bucco!” Loo replied fiddling with a lever and moving it forward as the ship around them shook from the extra ‘effort’. Sparks came from behind the pair as panels shorted out. The scene cut to the rocket ship accelerating and closing in now on a smaller angular boxy shaped ship. Cutting back to the cockpit then Loo spoke, “..We’re close enough to launch the grappling line Bucco!”

”..Do it, then get ready to board..” Bucco said arming his twin energy pistols and a twirl, twin thuds were heard as the two ships were seen closing into a physical docking latch. “..Let’s do it!” Bucco said as Loo drew her twin short blades, as Bucco then kicked down a door in a shower of sparks and smoke obscuring the screen.

From the rising volume of the noise and cheers, the holovid was clearly very popular, but Captain Glen couldn’t see its appeal himself.

Unlike the Captain, Mooney understood the appeal of the early to mid twentieth century serials, especially the parody of science and technology. Like the zombie movies of the late twentieth century, it was a thinly veiled comedy.

For himself he rather enjoyed the classic war movies of the twentieth and twenty first century, and modern action and horror comedies.

OOC: Just to clarify the movie your watching is a ‘modern’ take on those classic 50s serials

The movie continued with Bucco and Loo fighting their way through hordes of useless villain henchmen and women. Loo slicing and dicing while Bucco shot energy bolts from his pistols in a duel handed style like an old western cowboy from an earlier century. Eventually they reached a control center on the ship they boarded and in a black villainous like leather chair a woman turned in it standing. “..Ahh, Bucco Rogers and his little side kick Loo, how droll that you finally caught me. But you won’t be taking the plans back for I am Colonel Do’s strong----urk.” The nameless villain began to monologue before Bucco just sighed and shot her in the chest with a stun bolt.

Loo nodded. “..Well that saved me from cutting to the chase I guess Bucco!” She delivered dead pan. Bucco grinned giving the camera a cheesy thumbs up in what was likely Loo’s direction though. Kneeling over Loo retrieved a computer chip from the stunned villain henchmen. “..I got the chip Bucco! Now we can escape!” she said just as the sound of more feet were coming there way.

Turning Bucco armed his pistols again. “..Not quite yet Loo! Seems we got more trash to take out. On me! Let’s clean house!” he said as the serial came to a close showing the pair running back down a hall with approaching more henchmen.

The narrator spoke then “..Will Bucco and Loo escape the villainous ship!? Or will they fall prey to the overwhelming force of Colonel Do’s henchmen! Find out next month in…” The music picked up. “..BUCCO ROGERS IN THE 31ST CENTURY!” then the lights came up and various people cheered and yet still cried for more being left on a cliff hanger.

As folks filed out talking excitedly about what could happen next month in the serial a general announcement came over the comm =/\= Captain Glen of the USS Merrimack please report to Commander Delany’s office =/\= Some female NE said.

Tho not generally paranoid, Mooney had been around long enough to know that a captain called on a station’s general address was unusual, and in his line of work that was not a good thing.

Rising to his feet, he began trying to make it to the door, “excuse me” becoming his refrain as he went.

Saark had sat silently throughout the video, watching it. Once it ended, he stood and stretched. He didn’t really care for the show much. Watching shows from earlier centuries was a good way to learn about the times, in his opinion, but to him, modernized versions were wastes of time.
