“I can be anywhere on the ship or within two hundred and fifty meters of it since I’m personally familiar with the systems. I don’t know if the Captain knows. I’ve never bothered to check on whether Kirk’s first encounter with my people was classified or not.”

  • Kord

Tia nodded. “Well, I will keep your secret. That is, unless it’s the only way to say lots of lives cause things go sideways. Though, in which case, I’m sure you’ll think of it long before me.” She tried to keep a teasing edge to it.

Looking around the bridge, she smiled. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to be connected to something so huge.”

“It’s sort of like wearing an EVA suit with a Telson Modular Space Frame’s neural interface.” Kord replied as he returned his gaze to the monitors.

Kord figured Tia hadn’t heard of the Telson MSFs as he remembered that they were classified and only two squadrons had, as yet, been produced.

“Never mind about the Telsons.”

  • Kord, XO

“Telson interface? What’s that?” She had asked just before his dismissal. Laughing she shook her head. “Fine, I won’t ask. But maybe someday you’ll tell me anyway. Either way, sounds amazing. It’s funny. I actually wish I could put my hand on yours and ‘feel’ what you do. Not just the effect it has on my body on this side, but what you sense. I wonder if you realize, after all this time, just how amazing and incredible you are.” Her hand reached out and hovered just over his as the console wavered. A smile crossed her lips.

All Tia would feel is the light breezy feel one gets when hovering their hand just above a statically charged balloon. And it wasn’t just Kord’s hand, it was his whole body.

“Maybe I could come up with a simulation for you to try.” he said smiling at her as he took her hand.

  • Kord, XO

Tia shivered. The smile on her face brightened. She was so used to his contact now, that it was a comfort and she couldn’t imagine it not being that way. “It was mostly just musing, Kord. I know you can’t experience what someone else feels. I’m content with this.” She squeezed his hand.

“So tell me… how deep can your control go? I mean are systems that require password access. How do you get around that? Or can you?” The idea, while not something she would ever share, was something she wanted to know more about.

Kord wasn’t sure how much to tell her.

“It’s like an extension of the body. I can’t access the computer if that’s what you want to know, but I can make adjustments to many of the operational systems on the fly if needed. I can use the sensors like extra sensory apparatus.”

  • Kord, XO

Tia nodded. “So you can sense thru the system, but not access and run it. That’s still so amazing. And I would check on the status of your meeting with Earthlings. I mean, if the Captain ‘doesn’t’ know. Cause it could be a great advantage in a pinch. Don’t you think? If I’m wrong, let me know. Just seems like something he should know. Though I agree, probably no one else.” She smiled and nudged his shoulder playfully. “Don’t want everyone knowing what my man can do.” She laughed.

“I think he might suspect, but we’ve never said anything to each other. Maybe this would be more clear… Think of the computer as the brain and the rest of the ship as the body. I can take control of the body and all it’s functions. The more familiar I am with the body, the more refined my control can be. But I have the discipline to not take control of the ship just because I can. I don’t think the captain would appreciate it. The Cheron fleet had massive warships. The crew compliments were so small that it would seem impossible to run such a ship, but they were only necessary for hands on repairs and maintenance and to assist the commander with sentinel duties and such. Otherwise, control of the ship was through the exertion of will by whichever command officer was on duty at the time. A ship this size,” Kord indicated the Merrimack, “in the Charon fleets, might have a crew of sixty.”

  • Kord, XO

Tia covered her mouth as she let out a laugh. “Only sixty? I can hardly imagine a single skeleton crew in dry dock of sixty on this ship. That’s… well it’s amazing. Though I can imagine that needing that small of a crew means less people on more ships. Sorry…” she touched his arm remembering there wasn’t anyone left. Smiling softly, she rose up on tip toes to kiss him softly. “I know, I know… public affection and fraternization. It can go to hell.” She laughed and kissed him once more before standing back on the deck.

“So, you know my curiosity, I have to ask. What’s the coolest thing you have done with your abilities?” She was all lit up with mischief and curiosity now. And grateful the bridge was there’s.
