It had been too long since they had been out with adults. Teasing came naturally, but only to a point. Nothing meant to be demeaning or overbearing, but playful. She seems so kind.” Her smile turned more mischievous as she reached for another of the delicious food offerings. Astrid could simply eat forever and never gain a pound. It frustrated her doctor to no end and he was forever asking her to plump up a little more. “Children are a blessing to those who want them. Nikala has a wonderful sense of curiosity and loves to explore. My father will tell you tales of how I would be happiest outside dawn till dusk, if I could. It wasn’t a stretch that I became a scientist.” : : : : : : : : ~Ylana Eviros, CSO Halloway grinned. “We just hope her curiosity doesn’t get the best of her,” he said with a hint of wisdom. “I may be the governor, but I’m very much still a strategist and tactician. So I suppose she’ll have her father for awhile to keep her in line.” He shrugged as he found himself a beverage. -Governor Michael Halloway“And here I want my daughter to be as free a spirit as possible,” Ylana said with a teasing grin at her husband. She looked back at Rousseau. “We’re still figuring out the parenting compromise thing,” she said with a laugh.

Astrid smiled, watching the interaction between husband and wife. She herself had never considered what family she could have outside of her two siblings. Having such a poor example of what domestic life could be like from her father and step mother, Astrid wasn’t sure she would ever let that be her life. Yet, looking at these two happy people with love in their hearts for their children, she could almost see the whisper of the possibility of the idea. There was joy in her heart for them though. The Head of the Judiciary let her own uncertainty and clouded past fall away. Now was not the time for it. Instead, there was a celebration and new colleagues to get to know. “Anything I should know about getting the Governor to accede to what I want?” She asked Ylana conspiratorially.

Before any reply could be made, the room seemed to cool off by a few degrees. As this happened, Ylana could feel the flair of mental energy from a shot distance away. A brief look of panic crossed over Stephens face before he composed himself, “Excuse me for a moment, I think the environment controls have gone a little haywire.”
