PI Spencer Drake received them right away in his office. He was a balding man in his fourties who had acquired a bit of weight, but he still looked fit nevertheless. His eyes betrayed quite a bit of intellingence.

“Hello gentlemen. It’s not every day that I get such famous visitors. What can I do for you? Are you investigating Darius Brand? Sorry, I mean Darius Zar as he must now name himself.” he asked, pointing towards the two empty seats in front of his desk.

  • PI Spencer Drake

There was no reaction on the Chief Inspectors face as he sat down. He pressed a small button on his comm device, starting the recording of the interrogation as was the norm “Why do you think we would be investigating the latest Zar host?” He asked not betraying a single emotion. Something he fondly referred to as his Vulcan Face, twice as good as a Poker face.

DCI Pangolin.

Spencer raised one eyebrow. “Because I watch the news? And because Brand was here the day before the Zar murder. He asked me to find a certain box for him. It didn’t go anywhere… when I saw the news of Prim Zar’s murder I decided not to persue this gig. By then I had found out that the box had belonged to Shamera Zar, the host that came before our esteemed ex-governor Anu Zar. I value my life gentlemen, and I value to be known to work on the side of the law, I knew you’d come by for a visit eventually, and I didn’t wanna piss you off to be quite frank.” he said without much fuss.

  • PI Spencer Drake

Pangolin simply smiled politely “And this box, did you end up locating it?” He asked softly. Apparently honesty was a decent change from his regular day to day stuff.

DCI Pangolin.

Longstreet perked up at the mention of the box. The same one he was sure was in is office right now. THey had yet to crack its encryption.

“Did he say why he wanted the box?” Longstreet asked even knowing the answer would be no.

Longstreet

Pangolin sensed familiarity from the Security Chief, it appeared as if he was familiar with the box in question. He gave no reaction either way.

Spencer shook his head, a greasy strand of hair falling into his forehead. “No. To be frank he was a posh arse. I didn’t care for his arrogant airs at all. And you don’t need me anymore for finding that blasted box, your means are way more extensive than mine and I bet you’ve already found it.”

  • Spencer Drake

Longstreet put on his poker face and said nothing. Though Drake looked like a man who also played the game well.

Longstreet

Pangolin smiled his polite smile once more. He put his hand inside his jacket and pulled out his Standard Police Issue PaDD and put it on the desk, a picture of the Zar killer filled the screen “Are you familiar with this man?” He asked, not looking away from the man.

DCI Pangolin

Spencer cast one quick glance on it and nodded. “Yeah, would be a rotten detective if I wasn’t. Known hired hand, does a lot of dirty work but so far you guys never nailed him down.” then he grinned. “Why? Was he the hired hand in the Prim murder? If so I’d wager he’s dead by now, and good riddance. Makes sense. Whoever the money man behind this is - he ain’t the kind to make his hands dirty.” he said and scratched his balding head, looking pleased that one of the bad guys had met his maker.
He was a bit weird and grimy, but dumb he was not.

  • Spencer Drake PI

Pangolin smiled again as he retrieved the PaDD and placed it back inside his jacket pocket. He looked over to Longstreet, as if indicating that he was finihsed with his questions for the moment. Now was the time for the Security Chief to ask any if he had them.

DCI Pangolin

OOC: Check out the “Security Office” thread, thats where it all comes together.. :-)

“Take a guess. Whats going on here? Whose to profit from all of this?” Longstreet asked. After all he was a detective. He was bound to have ideas and even insight.

Longstreet

Spencer shrugged, but he looked smug. “I try to stay out of politics you know. It’s a loss-loss scenario for somebody like me. Just remembered though… when Mr Brand and me were discussing compensation for the gig, he said he didn’t bloody care what I ask for, I’d get it. So I reckon not finding the bloody box will set me back about a year financially. Just curious… I looked up Trill law, and while the new host can not be held responsible for crimes committed by a previous host, he has to say the truth if questioned about such a past crime. So I was wondering… have you questioned Zar about it all?”

  • Spencer Drake, PI

Pangolin’s smile seemed more authentic this time, less polite more amused “I don’t like asking questions I don’t already know the answer to when dealing with persons of interest.” The private investigator seemed a very attentive man, never before had the Inspector had a questioning practically answer itself so quickly. Now he only had to interrogate one man before talking to Zar. The tall man stood up, straightening out his jacket “One question before we depart. The box, did Brand mention whom it belonged to?”

DCI Pangolin

Spencer shook his head and harrumped. “No, he did not volunteer any information, not even what the weahter was like outside.” he said.

  • Spencer Drake

“Let me ask you this then. Did he stipulate that you had to give him the box to get paid or just find it?” Longstreet asked.

He liked the PI some. So if the contract was ambiguous then he might be inclined to help the man out. A source that owed you was a good source to have.

Longstreet

Spencer gave Longstreet an appreciative look. “Find it. And I have, shortly before you did. I wanted to inform Darius Zar of it, presuming that the joined Trill still wanted to know, but as a matter of fact, he can’t be reached at the moment at his penthouse in the Heaven’s Spike, nor in his office in the government tower, nor in his office on the Orbital Platform, nor in his office in the mining district… how many offices do you give one cabinet member anyhow?” he asked rhetorically.

  • Spencer Drake, PI

“Civilian side. They are needy.” Longstreet joked and nodded his head toward Pangolin. “If your discreetly telling me Zar is missing, intentionally on his own or maybe not, then I get it. I owe you one Drake. We will talk on it some other time.”

He then looked at Pangolin as they were exiting.

“Believe everything he said?” He asked the Detective Inspector.

Longstreet

Pangolin put his hands in his pants pockets as they walked “I never belive anything without knowing the facts, but I don’t think he has a reason to lie to us” He looked at the security chief and smiled slightly “So what’s in the Box?” He seeme pleased with himself, as if he’d made some sort of inside joke only he himself was privy to.

DCI Pangolin

OOC: I’m not sure what’s in the box yet. The other thread that was developing that info died out. So I need to see exactly who has that thread and get that rolling. So i’m ad libbing on that and slipping it into the timeline.
IC:

” Not sure. I’m meeting with the Captain later and then over to the Office to see if the techs have decrypted it. Whoever had it did not want that info to be seen.” He answered.

Longstreet

Pangolin nodded as they sat inside the car once more “Well, in any case, let’s head up to wherever Zar might be found” He tapped the Mining Ops heads name into the system to see if he was signed into any of his governmental offices.

DCI Pangolin

“Lets do it.” Longstreet added and leaned back into his seat.

Longstreet

Longstreet usually got around by transporter or shuttle. He rarely traveled in the older style “cars” used by the police. They reminded him of a version of a very, very old Earth movie called “Blade” something the other. He ran his hand across some surfaces.

“Easier ways to get around you know.” He said to Pangolin.
