Archanon raised an eyebrow at the Lt. Governor’s questions, sensing his unease about the whole situation. He sighed, shaking his head. It was not easy communicating to these beings in this way. He was limited vocally. He would give anything to simply share the memories of the events that had taken place.

“Leamas is most certainly dangerous. The Vren have bordered our nebula for centuries, but it was always too hostile for them to consider entering. However, eventually, they discovered ways to circumvent some of the dangerous gases and phenomenons occuring there. They began to explore it and discovered my people scattered throughout. My people have the unique abilitiy to use what you call Radiogenic Radiation for whatever means we desire to use it for. We consume it, much like you would consume food. Our lives depend on its supply.

“The Vren wanted to harness the particles and use it for themselves. Having seen us and what we could do, they sought to enslave us. The king would not have it. We built defenses for the Kalidon Nebula. Weapons and communications platforms were the first things to be built. Shield arrays were next, you get the idea. We were attempting to keep our nebula safe and secure.

“Leamas had other ideas. He pleaded with the king to allow him to assemble groups of us to go out and fight the Vren. He was motivated to deter them from ever attempting to come back. The king chose to not take that route. Should the Vren ever decide to make peace, to act in accordance with respect for other lives, than he wanted the door to be possible for them. But until then, the borders would be well defended.

“Leamas was not fond of that idea. To be fair, he often had been at odds with the King’s decisions, often favoring taking the fight to other people. He decided that this time, he would not budge on his thoughts. He managed to convince a third of our people to rebel against the king. They found a Vren ship, likely the closest to our lands and destroyed it. The message was conveyed to the Vren before we even had a chance to to stop it from happening. Those same Kalidonians came back thinking to be honored as heroes. They weren’t. They conveyed a message that would provoke our enemies and inspire fear. The king was not one who sought to make people fearful of him.

“The Guardians agreed with the King that banishment from the Kalidon Nebula was the proper course of action. He still had a chance to come back, to change his ways. But he would do it in the confines of a prison, unable to harm anyone. When we received word that the containment had been broken, I resigned myself to make the journey here somehow and fix the problem.”

Halloway waited to respond as he mulled over all of the new information. He allowed his subordinates to ask questions and comment first. He would have the end say all of what would happen, ultimately. Their suggestions were always important to him

Xavier saw it then for what it was. Two sides of the same coin.

“I want you both gone. Lets find Leamas immediately and solve this problem. Your going to have to tell us your weakness so we can quickly exploit it against him. If not that then lets hear the plan. The one that takes us from here to him.” Xavier had become very direct.

Xavier Lt. Gov

Ylana didn’t know exactly what physical weakness the Kalidonians might have but she knew the psychological one that Leamas has and it had something to do with intrigue over power, like hers. Something about his fascination with her made her incredibly uneasy. “The Vren aren’t exactly our dearest friends, either. The longer you are here, the more likely they will find out and assume some sort of collaboration, likely against them.”

“But…” Eviros began, feeling a nervousness that wasn’t usual for her. “I think I know how to find Leamas, or… bring him somewhere.” Her voice had flattened slightly and she knew given her revelation to Michael about her pregnancy, that she had to tread carefully here. That was a detail she also had to share with her Commanding Officer sooner rather than later, and she had a feeling that she might not get away with it being other than now.

“Lets hear it.” Xavier answered.

He had become tired of Archanon v Leamas. Oed had become a royal playground for them in their never ending fued.

Ylana inhaled deeply and nodded. “Well, we know from that first encounter on the Black Sparrow that Leamas is powerful and also able to penetrate my mind. But I’m also powerful and able to repel him, though it takes some effort. He’s… intrigued by me and I don’t know why exactly, but he’s determined hat I’m somehow of use to him. He wants access, so why don’t we bait him?” she suggested. Ylana couldn’t even look at Michale knowing he’d object immediately.

Halloway shook his head. “Absolutely not! Ylana, do you recall the last time you encountered him?”

Archanon interrupted. “She does make a very good point. She would make an excellent target for him. And he certainly won’t want to harm her. Her gifting is what he is after. And dead, she can’t use it.”

Halloway shook his head again. “Can we be certain of that? Why would he want to use her and her abilities?”

“Her abilities have the ability to strike fear into the hearts of the people.” Turning to Ylana, he said, “He will attempt to speak lies to you. He will try to convince you that returning to Kalidon would lead to other extravagent things for Oed. What I have spoken here is the truth. Once Leamas is captured, he is within our jurisdiction to do as we see fit.”

Halloway was thoughtful while the alien entity spoke. “You said your people consume radiogenic radiation. I’ve read over a report of a young man who was murdered by an overwhelming amount of radiogenic radiation. Was this Leamas? What’s to stop him from doing it again when he finds out he is about to be captured?”

Archanon paused. “We would need to enact this plan away from populated areas. There very well could be risk if he still has enough strength to kill that way again. The best places would like be outside the dome or in off of the planet on a ship. Locating his cell would be ideal as it helps sustain him. That cell is outside the dome somewhere. It would be near a place of explosion recently.”

-Governor Michael Halloway

“The Dome construction that was targeted by the terrorist.” Xavier said suddenly as the thought popped into his head as clear as a light shining in his eyes.
“Governor I dont like putting an officer in the line of fire like this either. However we are trained and expected to do this when other solutions don’t seem workable. We are disciplined and ready no more so than Eviros. Its risky but we can plan some of those risk down to a minimum.” He siad looking at the Governor.

In the past he may have used his authority to just do it. After all Eviros was SF and there was a clear and imminent threat to the security of OED. However he believed in Halloway. The man had been in SF and done a lot. Paid a high price too. This was his decision to make. It was his moment to show SF that a civilian government would and could do what was necessary in times of crisis.
