Ylana stepped to the side next to Michael and turned towards him, so that they could leave the security office on their own and could allow Xavier to leave as he would. She would catch up to him afterwards. “I’ll be with you in a few minutes, Captain,” she told Xavier.

The Captain and Longstreet stepped away.
“Yopur with her as much as you can. Keep herself and yourself safe. I’m heading to the EOC to monitor the operation.” He told Longstreet
Xavier
Longstreet looked at Xavier.
“You know it. We will get it done.” He assured his commanding officer.
With that Longstreet went just outside to await Eviros as Xavier left.

Watching Archanon, Xavier, and Longstreet depart, he stood near Ylana. He then turned to his wife and pulled her close to him, his face inches from hers. “Be careful out there,” he said to her out loud. She would likely sense the his frustration at having no real control of the situation at all. As a captain in Starfleet, he would have been able to override the rule of not allowing the CO on a dangerous away mission. But as Governor, he knew his lieutenant would not allow him to get too involved. Perhaps it was for the best, but he was a tactician at heart. Safety of others was his number one priority, especially when it came to Ylana and their growing family.

Sometimes her being that little bit taller than him made certain things simpler. She gently rested her hands on his face and leaned in to kiss him deeply.
He embraced her, responding in kind to her.
Pulling back, her ebony eyes shone. “Always. I have no intention of leaving you and Nikala. Just… trust in me. It’s all we can do right now.” The reality was that if Leamas truly wanted to harm her, there was no one on this planet who could help her, perhaps not even herself. But even if he tried, she would put up one hell of a fight!

Longstreet pondered what had transpired. It made his own situation come to mind. He had no children and though it had not been a thought for some time he wondered what he would have done if his love, now long gone, had wanted to take on a risky mission with their child in her womb. He knew he would have gone if his love had been pregnant and this made him reflect on that. Was it that much different? Sure the risk was but if he died on a mission he would leave her to raise a child without the one who had helped bring it into the galaxy. Was that fair?

Michael nodded. “I know. Just do anything I would do,” he added with a slightly humorous wink. “If there is anything you need from me as Governor, I will happily oblige.” He leaned in and gave her one more kiss before allowing her to leave.
