Moving swiftly back to the office and knowing she had only half an hour to get things in order before she met up with Longstreet, Ylana was working through her plan in her head. What needed to be done was quite simple and necessary, but it didn’t make it any easier.

Moving up the stairs faster than it would have taken to get a lift, Eviros made her way to the Judiciary offices. Stepping in, she looked a bit harried. “Is there someone who can witness a document, like, right now?” she asked the receptionist.

The receptionist, an older blond human woman, looked up at the approach of a Star Fleet officer. She took in the woman’s appearance and uniform in a brief glance in the same manner she measured everyone who approached her desk. She could tell the woman was in a bit of a hurry. Many people were, but they were not usually Star Fleet. She gave Ylana a canned smile. “Of course. I will get someone to come assist you in a moment.” She tapped the comm at her ear and spoke softly. The receptionist had long ago mastered the art of talking softly enough that the person in front of her desk could not hear, but the person on the comm could.

Within moments, Sofi walked through a non-descript door. She exuded efficiency as she approached Ylana. As soon as Astrid came to the Judiciary, she had put in rules that any of the Star Fleet leadership were to be treated with all due respect and deference. Not just any person would do for taking care of their needs. “Good afternoon Lt. Commander Eviros. I am Sofi, Judge Rousseau’s head assistant. Please come with me and we can get your needs seen to.”

Ylana simply nodded and followed the woman.

She turned and made her way back to the door which was opened by an obvious security person in uniform on the inside. As soon as they were both within the offices of the Judiciary, the door was shut. “You seem as though you might be in a hurry. If you could tell me what you need while we walk to my desk?”

Sofi.

“It’s very simple, but urgent. I need someone legally able to to witness the update of my Living Will. By regulation, all Starfleet officers are required to keep an up to date Legal Will and Testament and a Living Will. I need to update the later and I have less than thirty minutes to do it,” Eviros said calmly, though she still felt the anxiety of what she needed to do.

Sofi’s eyebrows rose as she listened to the quick explanation. “Of course I can assist you Commander, though I have to wonder how on earth it got to be so late in handling such an important and required document?” She asked as she walked through the hallways until it opened out into a large, spacious room with nicer cubicles than most companies had. Each one had a large console taking up most of the desk space. Fingers flew over the screens, updating documents, filing documents, creating new ones, adding scheduled events and docket clearing. Everyone was working and looked busy as they passed.

Soon they passed the majority of the cubicles to come to a separate desk easily twice the size of the others and on its own before Judge Rousseau’s office. “Here we are. Let me pull up the form I need to sign stating I am your witness and the filing clerk for you so you don’t have to go somewhere separate to have it filed.”

Sofi.
