Conrad wordlessly moved the Black Sparrow into orbit. They seemed to be quite a reverent species. Time would tell however, if that was truly the case.

“When would you like to go down?” asked Conrad once the ship was well put.

“I just need to grab my gear and then we can transport down,” Halai replied.

Valkris nodded, understanding the feeling. She missed the Klingon homeworld whenever she stayed on Earth, feeling isolated and distant during her visits. It made her stronger and independent over time though. So it wasn’t completely terrible. Valkris glanced down to check her gear, ensuring it was secure.

“I’m ready whenever you are,” Valkris commented, indicating who was the leader in this trip.

“We’ll meet in ten. I’ll make sure the coordinates are sent.

When everyone was ready, they gathered and soon the transporter shimmered before them

When they rematerialized, Halai stood for a moment and breathed the fresh air deeply. They were standing in a square in the middle of fairly busy city. It was fairly large, with a perimeter of stone planters overflowing with flowers, and vines and behind them, small trees cast a bit of shade to one side. People milled about, heading to this place or that, cutting through pathways that intersected the planters at 45 degree angles. Beyond the square, modest sized buildings were laid out along different pathways making this part of the city clearly a pedestrian-only area.

The ground in the space itself was made of up dark and light grey stones laid out in alternating waving lines that resembled flowing water. Crouching down, Cosgrove touched her hand to the ground and looked up with closed eyes, letting the sun warm her face. “I know it’s not different than Oed in practicality, but not having a dome overhead does feel different.”

Rising to her feet, she eyed her companions. “Remember, be open where you can and keep in mind that we do have technology here. It’s just a little less obvious. Our first stop is a government building near here, so you both should be prepared in case you are asked to surrender any weapons.” Her shorter staff was attached to the side of her backpack so she was equally prepared to do the same.

Valkris admired the simple beauty around her. It reminded her of her half-brother’s herb garden and how much work he put into it. For a moment, it was easy to forget that this place had technology that surpassed some alien races. Her attention was distracted when she caught Cosgrove eyeing each of them then remind them of what she spoke about.

She wanted to comment on it but thought better of it. A quick inhale brought the thought to heel as she checked her weapons, the dagger in plain sight. She suspected she would have to release it at some point.

“Understood and lead the way,” Valkris replied.
