Dawson had a slight idea of what may have been done, and immediately ran over to the pair and checked for lifesigns. If there were none, Dawson would have a pretty heft bone to pick with the police and its chief.

-Dawson

There would be a faint sign of life, it seemed that his weapon had been set to high stun. Joseph gave a hand motion to the one-way mirror and a group of medics entered the room and started administering first-aid. Joseph carefully placed his weapon on the table in front of it. As the Paramedics did their job another officer entered with a clear bag, carefully grabbed the weapon and placed it inside it., marked it and left the room. Joseph looked at the two men with grim expectation, one medic looked up and gave him a nod “Alright, have them transported to the morgue, have a doctor meet them in secret. I want everyone outside this precinct to believe these men to be dead.” He commanded his men before turning to Dawson “I apologize for the hastiness of my actions, I am not overly familiar with the species of this new overlord of ours but in my experience phaser fire does nothing against mist.” The elderly man said without the smile he had before

“These men are now dead, for their safety and ours they’ll continue to be until I decide they aren’t. You are going to have to complain about this publically” As he spoke to the El-Aurian the two stunned men were being carried out on a stretcher “I can take the heat for a little while until we can take down that arrogant cloud” Joseph crossed his arms “What’s your take on the situation?”

Comissioner Karlson

Dawson was quite surprised by the man’s actions, but found them to make sense. If it had been Dawson in the commissioner’s shoes, he would have done the exact same thing.

“This feels more than just a crime organization. He has revealed himself to the entirety of the police force by doing this. He believes he is strong, perhaps unstoppable. Or perhaps that’s what he wants us to believe. But to practically go after the Oed police force? That’s brazen. I don’t think he’s finished. And if he feels that strong, he may very well go after the entirety of Oed government. I’m not sure what his cause is, but a if its a personal cause…well, I don’t have to tell you commissioner that a personal cause is a something one doesn’t back down from easily. This is serious.” Dawson hated the idea of speaking out against the force like this, but he knew it would have to be done. But would it really benefit the police force this way? This being had people who followed him. Could this lead to more followers for the dark cloud? Or would it be something temporary?

Joseph nodded grimly “Agreed, this will get infinitely worse before it’s over. I wasn’t aware of any being on the Planet that possessed abilities like that. It will be important to keep the public sufficiently calm without forcing him to make a move that will result in further loss of life. I will consult the sensor data and devise a strategy in a way to either kill or preferably capture him” He paused and was about to continue talking but was cut off by the Comm.

Suddenly there was a com call. =/\=Requesting immediate medical assistance at the lobby of the police HQ! phaser fire Officer down!=/\=

Dawson gave the commissioner a brief look of understanding before taking off out of the room.

Joseph followed quickly, much more quickly than a man of his relative age and apparent physical injuries should be able, yet he left his cane behind. He drew a phaser from a holster on the inside of his jacket. The weapon was not the regular federation design, it sported a longer barrel making it more similar to a disruptor than a phaser and it had a trigger and a trigger guard. A custom made weapon for sure.

Commissioner Karlson

On the way to the lobby, Dawson pulled out a small phaser the size of his thumb from inside his boot. Coming up they could hear the shooting of phaser fire both from inside the station and out.

Dawson skidded to a halt just before entering the lobby. He peered around the corner. A corpse lay on the ground with severely burnt skin. Above it towered the dark cloud unphased by the weapons. Outside of the station, there was a large group of people taking cover. Many had weapons at the ready, aiming inside the police station. Were they all trying to fight the cloud? Were they somehow shooting at each other? The situation had to be defused.

There were still shots being fired. Dawson paid attention to the aim of every weapon present. It almost looked as if the police were aiming part at the crowd outside and part at the cloud form of Leamas. The weaponized citizens outside appeared to have weapons of all kinds being fired into the police station. Things were clearly out of hand. Meanwhile Leamas merely stood there with a smirk on his face as the firing ensued.

Dawson looked to the commissioner. “There are armed citizens outside!” He was not so much in a panic. But it was imperative to relay the information to the Head of Police quickly. This was his turf. This was the commissioner’s turf. Even though Dawson was a security man, always ready for a fight, never ready to back down, he still viewed the commissioner as the lead.

“What the devil is going on?” The loud voice of the Commissioner boomed from the hallway. His tone was the trained howl of a battlefield commander. In his hand was the drawn non-standard issue, pistol-shaped, disruptor. He pressed in several commands on his wrist computer and a moment later his voice carried outside through loudspeakers from the various police vehicles “This is Police Commissioner Karlson, lay down your weapons or they will be removed with force. There will be no second warning” His voice was loud and authoritative but not emotional. He looked over at the desk Sargeant “Davis, report” He called out, having taken rather casual cover right out of the line of sight.

Commissioner Karlson

Dawson kept stride with the commissioner perfectly.

Davis hollered out from his cover. “Corrine is down! The cloud thing over there is hovering where she fell! After it appeared a bunch of civies showed up with weapons, firing inside past the cloud. The cloud’s taken no hits. Can’t even touch it!”

A couple more shots were fired inside.

“Commissioner!” stated the cloud form of Leamas in a mock welcome. “It is a wonder that this officer is even still alive! She’s quite the fighter! She holds on by a thin breathe it seems. Those poor innocent eyes.”

Leamas leaned down and peered into them. “It is a shame you had to end this way. Such a meaningless death. If your leader had simply not sought to defy me, perhaps your suffering would never have occurred.” He then stood back up. “Perhaps you would like to do the honors again, Commissioner Karlson?” he barked.

“The devil are you talking about” Joseph called out. His hand went inside his coat and he was holding a small spherical device. He took a step forward brazenly walking past the phaser fire. His arm outstretched aiming outside. His weapon beeped once and he pulled the trigger. A very loud sounding and bright pulse shot out into the street, going out several meters before exploding. Some form of crowd control, it made no damage but functioned as some form of flash explosive. He now stood next to the cloud, looking down at the injured officer “You are not to harm any of my officers. Tell your people to leave or you will no longer possess labourers to command” It seemed that his defiance was absolute “Understand this, I don’t care who you are or what you intend to do. If anyone of my people dies today I promise you this. You won’t survive the month” There was something beyond simple conviction in his tone and face. Something combined with the fact he had simply walked into the line of fire apparently wearing nothing more than a fancy suit. “Now leave with your people before things get worse.”

Commissioner Karlson

The cloud morphed into a copy of the commissioner and hovered a few inches off of the ground. “This is how rebellions begin commissioner. Defiance of tyranny. The people of Oed share all sorts of mixed feelings. So easily shaped into whatever needs to be done. The people have spoken. You will have one day to consider what to do next. All I ask is surrender to my authority. There are bad people on the way. Without me, you will not stand a chance.”

The cloud handed over a Padd with coordinates inside the dome. “If you wish to speak more privately,” he offered before turning to face the outside. “Go home!”

Turning back to face the commissioner, he saw the El Aurian called Dawson. “And you…I allow you to live El Aurian. Do not think of crossing me. In a single breathe I will end you.”

The hairs on Dawson’s neck stood on end, and he was more than ready to fight. The man was built for a life of protection and security. And this being dared him to battle. But Dawson was a man of age, and wisdom overrode his primal thoughts. Better to regroup and plan than to go into the thick of it head first with brute strength.

With that, the figure smiled, morphed back into a cloud and floated off.

Meanwhile, the rest of the department was in shambles, but frozen in place. Everyone was too stunned to move. If anyone had any doubt in their leader, it didn’t show. They stood their ground and resolute to the end.

Dawson moved to the commissioner. “What now?” he said through semi gritted teeth.

-Leamas

The Commissioner fell to his knee and checked on his officer. After a moment he stood back up and allowed medics to attend to her. His weapon was now holstered. He pointed to one of his men “Go through our scans of that damned crowd, I want names and addresses on my desk in the next hour. I want those people in holding cells by the end of the day” He said, his voice full of confidence. He turned back to the El-Aurian, his expression focused and grim “Now, Mr. Dawson, we go to war” He started walking towards the entrance, looking out at where the crowd had been “This isn’t the first time I’ve been challenged by a being of power beyond simple comprehension and I think he won’t be the last.” He turned his head to look at Dawson “I am going to figure out what I can about this being, then I am going to meet it.” He turned to look at the PaDD it had given him “And then I’m going to take care of it.”

Commissioner Karlson

Dawson kept pace with him perfectly fine. “What can I do to assist you Commissioner?” he inquired simply.

-Dawson

Joseph turned, a grim smile on his face “Help me defeat a cloud” His tone the dark humour of a soldier “Every being has a weakness, every creature an Achilles heel and We need to discover this one’s.” He put his hands behind his back “I’ll have to report this, an assault on the precinct adding that with the fact that he seems to run some sort of underground criminal faction. We’ll need to involve Starfleet, if anyone can figure out his weakness it’s their scientists” He stood there for a moment “This cannot go unanswered.”
