Conrad had been out to pick up a hefty team of scientists from nearby sectors. It was odd really, but Conrad wasn’t about to gripe considering the wages they were paying him. With the second dome in process of being built still, he was not surprised by the sudden influx of all sorts of people. There was certainly a need. He only worried when the dome was all said and done. But maybe they would pay another hefty sum to get them back to where they came from.

It didn’t matter to him, as long as they kept their noses out of his stuff. He had the appropriate licenses as well. All was clear legally on his end and he made sure of that. Having a run in like his first encounter with the good ole Lt. Governor was not something he was fond of. Being questioned and detained for what he felt was hardly anything to be super sensitive about.

Nevertheless, he had no desire to be on the wrong end again. Everything had checked out long before he departed Oed to pick up the various scientist and engineers.

“Katrina, notify the Oed Orbital Platform we are en route with passengers. They’ll need to be ready.” he said to his ship’s AI.

Katrina sent the message and awaited their reply.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

Some time later, the Black Sparrow had been given clearance to dock.

=/\=All hands, this is the captain speaking. You are clear to board Oed Orbital Platform. Please take all of your belongings and keep my name on you. If you decide you need to be moved elsewhere for whatever reason, get a hold of me. The Black Sparrow is always of service.=/\=

With that he turned to Kanok. “See to it that people leave in orderly fashion. I want no stowaways, so be on the lookout.”

“Katrina, stay here and keep the Sparrow under watch. Look down once all passengers are off.”

With that, Michael Conrad stood up and made his way out of the ship and to customs to check in.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

OOC: Fixing the title, as I said, I missed a few points where I had to put in the main PRSIM name. :P
-Tony

Nicholas was doing what he did best. Watching and waiting. This was his moment, the Captain was venturing off alone. He intercepted Conrad. “Do exactly as I tell you. We’re going to go to your customs check in together. I have questions. You’re going to answer them truthfully and fully. Call out or signal your crew and as I suppose you might say ‘this all goes sideways.’ Understood?”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad raised an eyebrow. Who on Oed does this man think he is? he thought to himself rather humorously. He turned to look the man in the eye, not making another move towards customs. He was in public. Furthermore, he had more than a couple ways to simply disappear should the need ever arise. Was now one of those times? Or would he just play the man to find out what he was all about? Playing sounded fun.

“Tell you what. We don’t go to customs, you answer my questions, and I may consider answering yours.” He offered a satisfied, stupid grin as he awaited the strangers reaction.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

Nicholas was dressed all in black, including gloves. “I encourage you to take a second look at me, reevaluate your situation, and consider carefully what you do next.” He reached into his pocket, retrieved a mini PaDD and deactivated the electric blue iris filters on his eyes. The artificial computerised lenses could be plainly seen in the black void now. Stowing the PaDD, he said “Understand very well Michael Conrad, if you disappear now, I will find you again. And I will extract whatever information I need by whatever means necessary.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad got very close to his eyes, almost daring him to move. “My what pretty eyes you have,” he said sarcastically. “Tell me, are you an android, part android, or do you just have some pieces of your body missing that you needed some computer to take on those necessary functions?” Conrad pulled his head back in expectation of an answer as he folded his arms across his chest.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

Nicholas didn’t flinch. “I know not much scares you. Taken to be a slave at the tender age of 10? You’ve definitely seen things.” He pulled off his right glove. A needle extended from his index finger and a 1/4 inch blade from between his middle and ring fingers. “I imagine you think you’ve seen and experienced it all. And even if you haven’t, this is far too public an area to test that. Shall we find out how much I care? Their memories can be altered.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad sighed and moved forward toward customs. “For a man who seems to know so much about me, it sure seems you don’t need to ask me any direct questions.” He spoke as he strolled to a line of people waiting to be seen.

-Michael Conrad

OOC: Anybody other than Sam or I want to play a customs officer? ;)
-Tony

Nicholas retracted the blade and needle for the moment. “All things in time. I want to ensure that you will answer my questions before I ask them.” He put his glove back on. “The cargo and passenger manifest you’re about to give to customs. Is it accurate?”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad grinned. “If I said yes, would you actually believe me?” he asked humorously. The whole situation just felt a bit ridiculous to him. Being interrogated by a strange man in public as he is about to walk up to a customs officer…that was not something he ever expected to go through. Then again, he hadn’t expected the head of Oed’s Starfleet division to hold the Black Sparrow for so long. Ridiculous really, but at least he had the strange connection to the Captain and his security chief.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

“I would tell you I will be taking a copy. And neither myself nor the organisation I work for take kindly to lies. If I had some reason to doubt anything you had told me, I have no limits to my authorisation as to what happens to you. Perhaps the Orion would be interested in knowing where you are. After all these years.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad sighed openly. “You see the problem with threatening a man like me, is that I honestly have nothing to lose. My life? Long over to be fair. What anyone needs to know is on that list, that’s it.” He turned to the man and grinned. “Maybe you can tell me what you’re looking for since I doubt a civilian ship like mine is worth the attention of some high end organization.”

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

“And finally he says something intelligent. Something is coming that has drawn FSA and Intelligence here, your ship was held in orbit for a suspicious amount of time. And I doubt it’s because you filed the wrong form. Someone has reason to suspect you and your ship, and if anyone knows the goings on aboard a vessel, it’s her Captain.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad let his guard down and his face became a bit more serious. “I transported a rather large group of scientists and engineers to Oed just now. Unless there’s a criminal among them, what else would FSA and Intel look for?” His engines were his own, but Katrina was certainly something, that if found, could end up as a target. But he had been with Katrina for quite some time. Why would that all of a sudden grab their attention.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

“Did they bring anything with them? Anything at all.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO

Conrad stared blankly back at the question. “Gee, I wonder, would scientists and engineers just come on their own accord, or would they perhaps have brought some gear or personal belongings? Of course they brought things with them! All sorts of things. They are after all uprooting their lives for awhile to help with the second dome building. Perhaps if you are looking for something specific I could enlighten you?” he inquired curiously.

-Michael Conrad, Black Sparrow CO

“Anything beyond personal belongings. Complex equipment, chemicals. The kind of things that are probably available in the laboratory they’re moving to work in, but for some reason they brought their own.” One would think that is obvious. Threatening things. Not sweaters.
