George left Doris and Charles outside the local Oed V Suncents branch for their daily hit of coffee, while he went into the Government Tower to meet with the big cheese, Governor Halloway. He had researched the man, formerly Star Fleet, formerly a drone, now retired and married with a kid. A borg drone … just the thought of that made George think of the Wolf 359 invasion by the borg when he was very much just a kid himself.

Entering the tower, he took a few moments to admire the architecture before taking the ‘lift to the floor containing the Governor’s office. The doors swished open and George stepped out into the lobby.

Michael was prepared to meet the new Head of Construction and Operations. It was an essential position that needed to be filled, especially given their new endeavors with the second dome. His department would be working closely with Cosgrove and her people, so he needed the new man to be ready.

He listened, able to hear even footsteps as they entered the lobby before his office. The blonde secretary was there, he knew. She would likely let them in as soon as he heard the footsteps stop for a moment. He faced his door this time, ready for the inevitable.

-Governor Michael Halloway

He approached the blond secretary and smiled brightly at her, “Good morning, I’m George Easter, the new Head of Construction and Operations. I’m here to meet Governor Halloway. Is it true that his hearing isn’t just good but grrrrrrrrrreat?”

Halloway stifled a snicker.

The blonde smiled at him, and opened the doors to the Governor’s office, suggesting that George ask the Governor himself.

George came face-to-face with the former borg drone and froze, the news reports from Earth at the time of the Wolf 359 invasion by the Borg were still with him, and now old nightmares flooded back to him. George just stared at the Governor, he didn’t mean to be rude, but he couldn’t help it.

-George Easter, Head of C&O

Michael Halloway raised his good eyebrow. “You must be Mr. George Easter, my new head of construction and operations?” he inquired.

OOC: I was typing up a starting post for an equivalent to this thread, needed to check on your bio for something and saw you had started it, Tony. So I’ll jump in on this one … it is true what they say about you though Tony … you’re GRRRRRRRRRREAT!!! LOL
-Tribble

OOC: Ah, sorry I beat you to the punch! lol. I’d like to think I’m great in some ways. :P

IC: Eventually, George stopped staring at the Governor and decided to speak up, saying, “Sorry Governor Halloway, I didn’t mean to stare, hope you don’t find me rude, you surprised me, that’s all.”

-George Easter, Head of C&O

IC: Halloway gave the man a grin. At this point, he had been used to it from people outside of Starfleet. “Its ok Mr. Easter. Why don’t you take a seat?” He stood up and offered a chair. “Would you like something to drink?” he inquired.

-Governor Michael Halloway

George gratefully sat in the offered chair, and after a moment’s pause, he said, “a coffee, with milk and no sugars, thank you.”

He then returned to staring at the Governor, “sorry, Sir, I was a kid on Earth during the incident of Wolf 359 and subsequently Earth. I was terrified that I was going to be taken over and borgified. And you went through the process. Did it hurt?”

George stopped, gulped and said, “sorry Sir, I don’t mean to pry. You’ve probably been asked such questions countless times over the years.” He then fell into a silence that was uncomfortable for him, he didn’t seem to know where to put his hands or where to look.

-George Easter, Head of Construction & Operations

George tapped the side of his chair with his fingers, it was possible, actually more than possible that he was tapping the tune of the old 20th Century earth song ‘Eye of the Tiger’.

He looked at the Governor again as he tapped away and said, “sorry Sir, is borgified an inappropriate term to use?”
