He smiled for some reason as if something nice came over him in a wave. “I am second in charge of the Ferengi Alliance and a humble businessman. What do you do dear?”

Daimon Ress Ferl’lak

” My dear Daimon the list is much shorter for the things I don’t do” She said smiling and looking down toward him. Obviously he would get that hint.
Shinzak would arrive at the place where Preston Longstreet was with his companion.

“Commander Longstreet, a word please.”

SoR, HoMO

“Sure. ” Longstreet answered.

Longstreet and Apolonia

Shinzak motioned for the commander to move away from the crowd. When they were out of earshot, the mining chief started whispering to the Starfleet officer.

“We have an intruder. Some self-proclaimed terraforming CEO who wasn’t invited. I can’t make an arrest outright without warrant and I need your help.”

SoR, HoMO

“Well first what is your proof? Second MR. Shinzak you cannot make arrest period. You can confront the person, tell them they need to leave and if they comply great. If not then the local police can do a Criminal Trespass Warning and if they refuse then and only then can they be arrested. However I really want to know how you know they are not who they say they are and if your right why are they here?” Longstreet had noticed the man in question enter but figured he was invited.

Longstreet

“The guest list does not mention him. Moreover, this company is very likely not to exist, which means his persona is fake. What steps can I take?”

Joseph noticed that their host dragged the Security Chief from the group but didn’t make any moves towards them, he made sure to take a few steps so that he was in view of Preston and could be called over if necessary, he recognized the look on the mans face. It was his business face, a barely imperceptible change in his features and stance. He continued his quiet conversation with his wife. She simply smiled at the slight change in location.

Joseph Karlson

SoR, HoMO

Nicholas hadn’t made a company name up. Evergreen Terraforming was indeed a real company, which was seeking a presence on OED. Their CEO had not yet arrived, and this was the opportunity Nicholas took. He fashioned himself into a reasonable facsimile of the man and presented himself as the keen businessman. The false documents came in where public company documents were concerned. Nicholas had inserted his image where the actual CEO should have been. If security or law enforcement looked into it, they would find contradictory statements that the CEO was aboard a shuttle to OED at the time of this get together.

-Nicholas James, Section 31

“Well Mr. Shinzak.” We can check his status on the colony. His whereabouts etc..to confirm something.” Longstreet hit is combadge and also gave Karlson a look as if to say come over here.

He requested the current location, immigration data etc..on the person in question. After a few seconds the information came back that. It was unconfirmed that the person in question had arrived at OED yet. There was also a chance that data was not absolutely current but it would seem there might be something to what Shinzak was saying.

“You might have something.” He said to Shinzak. “Not confirmed yet if the person your saying this man is has arrived on planet yet. However he might have arrived and made a quick trip here without stopping anywhere else.”

Longstreet

Joseph gave the Commander a slight nod and exchanged some words with his wife before making his way to the two men “Mr Shinzak, Preston. Is there something the matter?” He asked with the hint of a smile on his lips.

Commissioner Karlson

“There is, commissioner. We have a potential intruder. Inside my very home. It seems one of our guests is potentially on a shuttle heading here right now, which means, if we confirm this character is on that shuttle, we have the potential to sanction an arrest.”

Shinzak turned to Longstreet.

“Get a hold of that shuttle as soon as you can. Ask them if they have a certain Nicholas James on board.”

SoR, HoMO

OOC: The cover identity is Nicholas Ramsay. Shinzak so far would have no idea Nicholas James exists.

-Sam

It would take time to get hold of the shuttle. They would confirm that there was a man by the name of Nicholas Ramsay aboard, though they had no idea if he was connected to Evergreen Terraforming. Contacting the company, Mr Ramsay’s secretary would say that she had received a message that he had arrived on OED at 09:00.

-Nicholas James, Section 31(Nicholas Ramsay)

Joseph smiled “This potential intruder, I assume he was not on the guest list” He said with a slightly jovial tone “I assume because this isa reception for Cabinet members and whatever plus one they bring” He looked to the Ferengi guest “And certain dignitaries. A new unknown businessman has no place here. Seeing as this is private property all you need to do is ask and your security will escort him out of here” He smiled at the Alien “Or I could have one of my uniformed officers come inside and ask him to leave.” He looked at Longstreet “Then of course we could always take him out back and have him shot” He joked darkly.

Commissioner Karlson

“What time is it now Karlson? I need to know, because it confirms his alibi if he is who he says he is.”

SoR, HoMO

Joseph looked at his Chrono then back at Shinzak, raised his hand and showed the man the time “If someone got a hand on an invitation to get here under an assumed name they would be clever enough to not get caught at the first background check, and an alibi is saying you were somewhere whilst a crime took place elsewhere, we’re looking for proof that he is who he says he is.” Joseph tapped a few commands on his wrist computer, cleverly disguising itself as a piece of cloth entirely unnoticeable until he tapped it. He looked the man in question up and looked at a picture of him then looked at the man himself “Well it sure looks like him” He said as he turned the screen off and it turned into his jacket once more “But seeing as you didn’t invite the man I say it’s fair game to throw him out, this is your personal residence, you have a legal right to kick anyone out”

Commissioner Karlson

“I understand that, commissioner, except I want to see if this is an infiltrator. We have a suspicious man who looks exactly like another man who’s supposed to be on a shuttle. That should be more than enough to bring him in for questioning, don’t you agree?”

SoR, HoMO

“We have a man with an invitation he shouldn’t have in a place he knows he shouldn’t be in.” Joseph shrugged “If you can prove that the invite isn’t from your office he can be detained for trespassing but until then there’s nothing legally that I can do” He maintained his grandfatherly smile “As his office said, he’d already announced himself of arriving early. There live over 4 million people on this colony, we have a fairly busy port and I don’t think it would take long to find at least a few Nicholases or Ramseys here. That’s not counting the false names and the unregistered citizens. It’s also not uncommon for CEO’s of companies to travel anonymously and allow a double to travel publically. At this very moment there are at least twelve people in the Federation running around under my brother’s name, all legally allowed to” Joseph turned slightly to the side “If you want to find out there is a much simpler way, call the man over here” The elderly man said with a strange tone.

Commissioner Karlson

“Alright, let’s play this more schemingly. Get one of your people to screen every single arrival at the spaceport. See if another Nicholas Ramsay terraforming CEO arrives. That should be a good cross-reference point. If you find him, we have grounds for a false impersonation case. After he’s out, please have him followed and tracked. If not, I’ll have one of my people do it.”

“I’m in complete agreement with the Police Chief Mr. Shinzak. Also SF Security runs the port and were not about to dedicate that many resources to a trespasser without more to go on.” Longstreet added. He knew the Chief was on the money and was now a little more suspicious of Shinzak’s over reaction than the actual trespasser.

Shinzak would then motion a guard over.

”…as for now, I want this character out of my house. Corporal, kick that man over there out please. Tell him my office did not invite Nicholas Ramsay to this gathering.”

He would then point towards the character being discussed.

SoR, HoMO

At being approached, Nicholas knew that he should have just bribed a bureaucrat. “Let’s see… burly, uniform look, not police. One of the host’s guards. Well, if he’s that certain my invitation was a mistake, I’ll be on my way.”

Once outside, Nicholas sent a message.
{Lawrence. I have a job for you.]
}What is it?]
{Nothing too complicated. You’re the secretary of Nicholas Ramsay, CEO of Evergreen Terraforming. And we have a problem with the Head of Mining Operations.]
}I need specifics.]
{Let the real Mr Ramsay know he’s being investigated at the behest of Shinzak.]
}Doesn’t that entirely blow your cover?]
{Direct him to my “office” in the government district to seek recompense.]
}Ok. I’ll get started.]

-Nicholas James, Section 31

Longstreet

Joseph gave Longstreet a knowing smile, every time someone assumed that the Police was in charge of something that was under his purview he would correct them faster than a Peregrin Falcon. He’d always found those times just a little amusing although he did understand the feeling quite well “Mr Shinzak, I don’t need to remind you that you don’t have people to do such things for you” He turned his gaze at the Reman, his smile remained “Your security force is restricted to doing just that, securing you.” He tapped the comm on his watch =^=Pangolin, I have someone coming outside now. I want you to trail him for a little bit. See where he goes what he does, unseen but felt=^= He closed the channel without receiving any confirmation.

“Preston, maybe do the man a favour and put Nicholas Ramsey’s ID under surveillance. If he does arrive through the port your people should know, shouldn’t waste any unnecessary resources” He looked once more at Shinzak “You know if he did come here in disguise you should feel honoured, my first week here I got a visit from one of the old crime bosses, in disguise and everything” He smiled as he thought back “I’m fairly certain he may have threatened my life, or tried to.” He turned to Longstreet “He was the one who instigated the Riots I believe, this was probably around the Kidnapping of Governor Zar” He turned to Shinzak “When Commander Longstreet and Captain Xavier flew away dashingly to her rescue.”

Commissioner Karlson

(OOC: Before I begin, I just want to say that I am not metagaming. All of what I am about to do is pure deductive work

“Very well commissioner. I’m still getting accustomed to OED V police procedure. My apologies to you and security chief Longstreet for the disturbance.”

Shinzak moved away from the pair and went to his chief aide.

“This is very strange. I did not allow for this Nicholas Ramsay character to enter here. If this character is a terraforming CEO, he had absolutely no reason to be here in the first place; we’re not discussing terraforming operations at all. This means this was likely an intruder.”

Shinzak immediately deduced quite quickly that, if this intruder was able to perfectly mimic Ramsay’s appearance, it was to be assumed that he has an intimate knowledge of the everyday workings of Ramsay’s staff. This meant that there was a plant inside his office and, given he was travelling, the plant had to be with the real Ramsay in order to monitor. Moreover, given it would be a cover blow if both the Ramsay’s were seen together, it was very likely this plant was the party accompanying the terraforming CEO’s communications officer, either a secretary or an aide; this was necessary in order to maintain constant communication without Real Ramsay being alerted.

Shinzak had previously considered contacting Real Ramsay, but given what he just deduced, this would prove useless or an outright misstep. Karlson and Longstreet were both very unaccommodating to the idea of outright arresting the intruder right now, given that this was simply a private gathering. However, Shinzak was incredibly annoyed at having someone invade his home and wanted to investigate further.

He immediately came up with a strategy. False impersonation, particularly with the intention of entering places, is a crime. This meant that if he could prove the intruder falsely impersonated the CEO, he could likely be able to convince Commissioner Karlson or Chief Magistrate Astrid Rousseau to issue an arrest warrant for the intruder.

Now, Shinzak already had evidence the intrusion had been committed. The testimony of the doorman, of several cabinet officers, of the corporal ordered to see him out and of the video cameras in his mansion could be used to prove that someone named Nicholas Ramsay attempted to get in. Now, the intrusion itself wasn’t the problem (or even a crime), but false impersonation could be.

How would he go about proving it? Now, he had to think on his feet, but it would prove a most interesting intellectual challenge.

(OOC: Alright, if anybody still wants to RP the reception, go ahead. Whoever plays Nicholas James, please reply to another thread called “A Tale Of Two Nicholas Ramsays”)
