A tall, muscular man entered, his dark hair cut short. “I’m sorry Governor, your secretary seems to be away. I thought I would knock and see if you were busy.”
He glanced about, his gaze lingering on Astrid for the briefest of moments. If he could, he would have soaked in her form for longer, but he sensed someone else and looked to the left and right to find a man Lt. Commander Nicholas James, holding a brief case. Just the man he was looking for.
“Commander,” he stated with a nod.
Nicholas eyed the man. Dawson. Secret Securities.
She wasn’t wrong. Though she enjoyed seeing Dawson, he obviously knew the Commander and like the Governor didn’t particularly enjoy the man’s presence.
Turning to the Governor he added. “It seems you are quite busy. If you would like, I’ll just wait outside here or meet with you another time.”
“Another time perhaps?” asked the Governor.
“Sure thing. You know how to get a hold of me, sir.”
And with that, he held the door open for the CIO. “After you sir?”
-Dawson, Owner of Secret Securities
“Oh no. I insist, you go ahead. I’ll follow.” And he waited for the man to yield and exit first before following him out.

Finally annoyed at the impossibly false politeness, she set her PaDD face down on her lap and threw her hands up. “Oh for heaven’s sake would you all kindly deflate your egos for 10 seconds. Especially you Commander. You are acting like a child, not an officer of Star Fleet. Put on your big boy pants and respectfully take the exit you have been offered several times already. I think whatever point you wanted made is made and retarding taking your leave further only makes you look insolent and hard to work with, neither of which is in the best interest of this outpost.”
In the doorway, Nicholas’ nostrils flared. He took care to select a language only he and Rousseau would understand. He spoke in Vulcan. “Nem-tor tun ra nemut du tor. Du worla fai-tor ik fai-tor ra pa’ kisheya wu vesht.” (Take care what enemies you make. You never know who knows what about accidents long past.) he alluded to the accident that had claimed the lives of family members years ago. It was clear he knew.
“Really.” She huffed out with an eye roll and then turned to the Governor. In this motion, she had fully dismissed the Commander and Dawson. She had business and her time was too precious to waste on pissing matches.
“Now Governor. I would like to show you some of the improvement statistics and discuss strategy on how to get certain sectors improvement scores up.” She pulled her PaDD back up and began toying with the information on the screen.

Nicholas stepped outside and withdrew a PaDD from his pocket.

Dawson as well stifled a laugh as the pair exited the office. Of course Dawson took note of the man’s PaDD, but took no care to see what was on it.
The secretary was still not back yet, and the lift was taking a bit to arrive, so he took the opportunity presented to him. “Lt. Commander Nicholas James, newly appointed CIO of Oed V, eh? How are you finding the job?”
-Dawson, Owner of Secret Securities
“Dawson. Proprietor of Secret Securities. My new assignment is as expected. The Intelligence arm of Starfleet is only taken seriously when people find themselves in need of it. Otherwise they regard us all as egomaniacs living out a James Bond holonovel. And a private security firm has business with the Governor. I must admit to being intrigued.”
-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO/Section 31
Dawson grinned. “I’m glad to intrigue you. That matter will likely remain that way though.”
The lift doors opened and he entered, holding the doors for the officer. “I was once involved with intel. You tend to meet all sorts of different personalities it seems. I wonder, what sort of intelligence gathering do you prefer? I personally like the head on and direct approach. Typically scares people into compliance.”
-Dawson, Owner of Secret Securities
“The direct approach has its virtues.” Nicholas admitted as he entered the lift. “I prefer to hunt. Stay hidden, acquire leverage, then hit the target. People fear physical pain, everyone has something they dread losing, their status, their possessions, their family. But in a pinch, it never hurts to have a Klingon dagger.”

Astrid was not at all bothered by whatever the commander thought he knew about the accident in her past. She was unimpressed by his reference to it. More posturing on his part and she didn’t much care about it. She continued with business as usual.
Meanwhile the request he made to change her surveillance status was sent along. [Civilian Astrid Rousseau, Head of Justice Department] changed [Surveillance Level: 1] to [Surveillance Level: 5]. A man frowned as this particular order was relayed to him. Why on earth would she be set to level 5 surveillance? A message would be sent to Astrid later that day to return a call at her earliest convenience to an old friend.

OOC: Oh, I’m very intrigued. :D Can’t wait to see where all of this leads. hahaha.
IC: Meanwhile, Dawson listened with a hidden grin. The hunt. Typically longer, but generally gave the best results when conducted properly. “You’re right, most people do have something to lose.”
The doors closed and the lift descended. “I’m actually here to offer my services to you. You’re aware I own a business. Secret Securities. A play off of what little time I did spend in Starfleet Intelligence. There’s more to the place than what it seems.”
He turned his gaze and met the CIO’s eyes. “I’m not so much interested in the profit. I simply want to help the people of this colony in whatever way I can. Self-defense is of course important. But to those who know much more than that, there are perks to be had in my building and in knowing me. I offer my services to you, should you have need of it.” He paused, observing the man in every way mentally, but holding his gaze.
-Dawson, Owner of Secret Securities
“Duly noted.” Retired Intelligence. On OED. Mental note: research Dawson. “Why set up a private security firm out here?”
