Xavier had went home after the meetings of the day. He was still wondering if he did the right thing by giving Intel the green light. However it was time to be preventive and so far nothing Oed worked to quell the conspiracies on a long term basis. So he was willing to take some liberties.

He also though about Tyra and the coffee they had. It had been nice. He did not need to pretend or making up thigs to talk about. They were both StarFleeters and that is what they talked about mostly. That was ok. Why fight the life that had consumed him. Maybe find someone else it had consumed and share that. He would not put pressure on it but let it takes a natural course.

Xavier

Upon waking the Captain began going over the government security report of the night before. He was at his table and yet to get ready for duty but wanted, as always, to be prepared. Nothing jumped out at the moment. Which was good and bad at Oed.

Xavier

Xavier knew the situation brought to him by Intel would not sit but at the same time he was willing not to get in the middle just yet. James had the skill and pedigree to do this and he needed to let Intel do what they did. If that could not contain it then actions out of the shadows would need to happen. He hoped the Governor with his experience knew this was the best approach. He probably needed to have that talk.

Xavier

Looking at the report a little longer he sat it down. He had not seen much of Longstreet since the Orion had arrived. He knew this situation would need his right hand man. He wondered what was the deal with this Orion woman. Obviously they had history and there was more to tell. He sensed that Longstreet was off his game when she was around. Should he inquire more?

Xavier

The Lt. Governor sent a classified brief to Longstreet that gave him the details of this new possible threat. He knew Preston would know what to do with it.

He then looked at his growing pile of Lt. Governor tasks. Ones he had not taken enough care to handle promptly. ONe was a final signature from the constructiona nd improvements department of Oed to reroute a security node in order to make modifications to existing structure expansion. It was routine and not sexy but it was one of those things that he usually just signed. All the due diligence had been done. They just needed a final signature from him to get the purchase orders and work orders flowing. Nothing with a SF property number could ever be modified, moved etc…without SF authorization. Sf was nothing if not bueracratic. Something he oddly did not mind even if it was tiring at times.

Another was a the re-assignment roster for officer arriving to Oed and requesting reassignment etc…Pretty routine as well. Division commanders had already done the work here as well. It was his way of getting ready for the office. He snapped up the PaDD with everything on it and finished his prep to go to the office.

He had only been sitting behind his desk for a few minutes when the first appointment arrived. He looked at his calendar. It was the Minister of Public Transportation. The Minister wanted to have access to build a project that would move most transports underground. It was an initiative to unclog the streets of ground transports and the air of shuttle transports. Making Oed a complete underground access colony. Of course it was not all at once and there were access ways underground completely controlled by SF. This once route was wanting to cut across an unmarked tunnel used by SF to move from one area to another without transporter tech or shuttle movement. In a modern age it was akin to suddenly appearing somewhere and no one knowing how you got there.

¨Minister please come in.¨ He said and indicated the seat in front of the desk.

Xavier smiled. He was dressed in the all black Lt. Gov garb he wore for his civilian side of the job.

The usual niceties were exchanged and offers of something to drink etc..done. Then it was time for business.

“As you know Lt. Governor it is very important that we make progress on the new transportation plan for a clear skies and ground goal. No more clog of shuttles coming and going to one location in this large colony city to another. No more congestion of land vehicles moving around. If someone wants to go from one point to the other the quickest, safest and most convenient way will be in our tunnel system. Like the old subways of but very much more convenient. Also we can cut down on beaming technology which is extremely convenient but not available to all. It takes energy to beam everyone around and if we can’t beam everyone then we need another clean solution.” The Minister said. He had used this speech many times.

“I can completely see your point of view Minister. Though I think there are other solutions and transport technology is still one of them. However this is an internal civilian discussion that I have a vote in like any Minister bit nothing more. We are here because you are saying you must have access to one underground zone. I have reviewed this request and weighed it against Colony security and am afraid it looks very hard to approve.” Xavier said getting to the point.

“Can you tell me why this one zone is unavailable for our proposed project.?” The Minister asked calmly.

“I am afraid that is classified and I cannot.” Xavier answered.

“Is there no way to work around it. Work it within the plan?” Asked the Minister still not convinced.

“There might be and we are always open to this. However any work in that underground zone would have to be under strict SF control. I’m not saying its possible but this is just me opening a door to discussion.” Xavier continued.

The Minister was smart. He had expected the Lt. Governor to have no give in this discussion ad he was equally prepared to go to the Governor and others and use different tactics to pressure him into giving in. However the man had actually been open to discussion. He decided to go along and be the same.

“Well Lt. Governor let us plan another meeting. Our chief planning engineer can send over some details to your chief engineer and we can see what might be done. It is a good starting point.”

“Very well Minister. I look forward to your next communication.” Xavier answered.

The meeting ended and Xavier knew he had surprised the man. He had a reputation of SF first and being inflexible. It played well to his needs when he could use it. He had given the man little but he could see it had a large impact. Plus he was open to discussion and compromise on this issue within reason.
