Tyra walked into her office and sat down at her desk. There was a flashing priority message, she sighed and opened the message, and hung her head ~seriously~ She began reading through the long list of information, Star Fleet Corps of Engineers had finally released the computer update and it was OEDs turn to be upgraded. This time, they were not sending a team to the OED, they were sending Tyra all of the information and the updates. She sighed and sent a message to Xavier to schedule a meeting with him to go over the updates and develop the time line.

=^=Xavier, I need to schedule a meeting with you to work out a timeline for updates that will shut down the systems for about three hours.=^=

Instead of an answer she received a calendar request with a date to accept or not. A typed note also was attached.

“Sorry in a meeting. Make a date.”

Xavier

Tyra accepted the date and hit the send. She marked the date on her own personal calendar. It was the following day at 0800 hours. She sat back in her chair and went through the updates and what systems they would be affecting.

The meeting calendar showed that Tyra was due to his office. He was as always about business first. However he did want to see her as well.

Tyra arrived and buzzed the door. She glanced at her watch and realized she was about three minutes late. She sighed in frustration, she was going to have to run additional drills in main engineering to deal with the power fluctuations that had just happened. No one seemed to be aware or willing to move to do anything.

CE

“Come in.” Was the answer from Xavier as the door swooshed open.

He got out of his seat and walked to greet her. In non standard fashion he gave her a slight hug. He wanted her to know he was also happy to see her. He then returned to his usual business self and walked back behind his desk. He pointed his hand toward the flask of water and glass to indicate she was welcome to get some.

“Your here to go over the SF updates correct? Plus we need to do our one on one meeting anyway. we are overdue by…let me see..a couple of years.” He said smiling.

Tyra returned the hugs and nodded “Yes. SF sent us a large packet update for all SF computer databases.” She said. Regarding the review, she responded “Three years to be exact.” She said with a slight smile “I figured, no news was good news and since I hadn’t blown anything up recently. We were good.” She said as she handed Xavier a data pad with the update information to glance over as she talked.

“My plan is to update primary systems first. Starting with the government building and main engineering.” She said “Then we’ll work on rolling it out to the secondary and tirtiary sites.” Tyra added “I want to make sure that it is stable before we completely roll it out to everyone. I know that Corp of Engineers tries to make sure everything is accounted for, but they don’t know our systems and they kinda do a one size fits all and each individual site has to tweak it to fit their system.” She said “It will take about two hour to upload the update. So I will do it overnight, when the fewest people will be impacted.” She added.

CE

“What is the impact? What do we lose when it is being done and for how long?” The Lt. Gov asked. He was now all business because they were talking business. “Do we need an official communication to anyone first before they lose data etc..?”

Xavier

Tyra looked at the Padd in her hand “The impact will be minimal. There will be some cosmetic changes to LCARS. Yes we will need to notify all departments to back up their data to the main computer core. As for losing anything, as long as people follow directives, we shouldn’t lose anything.” She said “I have a memo ready to go out to all departments and divisions about this.” She said as she sent the memo to Xavier “Let me know if you want anything changed. (OOC: the Memo basically states that everyone will need to back up their data to the main computer core by 1900 hours, two days from the date of the memo. With an attachment with the changes that will be included in the update.)

She looked at Xavier “The update will happen overnight, when there are fewer people working. The main system in the government building will go down at 2000 hours and they will be back up by 0100 hours. The same with main engineering. The following day, we will take down the secondary system at the same time and it should take the same amount of time.” She added “So there will be lots of coffee in my office and snacks. So if you’re bored, you can stop by and watch me try not to blow up the entire computer system.” She said with a sly grin.
