“Someone who could catch an agent in the open and get away with it, isn’t going to let themselves get caught by civilian police. You flood that area with uniforms, we will lose them. I don’t know what you’re looking to achieve by this show of intimidation Karlson, but we all have jobs to do. The Governor needs protection and we are losing daylight.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO/Section 31

Joseph didn’t let go “This isn’t some show of intimidation fueled by ego and testosterone Commander, this is experience telling someone who doesn’t understand Oed how things work here.” He said calmly. He finally let the case go “And in my experience, it doesn’t take much to take down an intelligence agent” He tapped a few commands on his wrist computer “You never hunt alone” He looked at the man “Now either you tell me who ore what we’re dealing with and I might give you the necessary tactical support. Now I am ready to quietly cordon off the area locking of all major escape routes and move in with SRU that I might even put under your discretion.” His mistrust of Starfleet Intelligence was fairly well known, especially in the last few years,

Commissioner Karlson

Nicholas glanced at Governor Halloway. He knew that neither Nicholas nor Kasmira had been ordinary Starfleet Intelligence. When he looked back he said “This operation is small and hides well. They have a cult like structure. One leader, everyone else serves the leader’s purposes. Loyalty and tight structure is how they hide. The leader is unlikely to make an appearance at the hospital. If you let one drone get away, they’ll lead you to some key location. Either the base or wherever they go to receive orders. You won’t be able to communications trace them, but if you can find out what private comm system they’re using, you can find out how they got on it and who’s paying for it. That enough for you?”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO/Section 31

Joseph raised his head slightly then fidgeted with the device strapped to his left wrist “I meant the attack on your people, although you aren’t supposed to have people operating within the city” He pointed at the rifle “What was the plan with this, jump on a rooftop and hope a single sniper is enough.” He said admonishingly as a parent would to a child “For a city this size you need tactical support, I’ll assign two SRU’s and DCI Pangolin to liaise” He’d known enough spooks in his time, all cut from the same cloth as James “If you want to take ground command I’ll be happy to provide overwatch” He said glancing at Longstreet for a moment.

Commissioner KArlson

“Oh good god. Isn’t that obvious? They’re going to want proof she’s dead. If her body isn’t on the ground, they will be hunting for her. The scope gives me the best odds of finding people out of place without spooking them. Whether or not I shoot them… depends on what happens at the hospital.”

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO/Section 31

Joseph didn’t react at the Intelligence officer’s statement, only turned to the main table and tapped a few commands. A holographic display of the City came up. He focused on the aforementioned Redlight District “There aren’t as many tall buildings here, more alleyways and smaller businesses.” He explained, the hologram showed that on the outskirts of the District in strategic locations, placed so that they could support each nearby unit but far enough so as not to draw attention. “The nearest Police station his here where the district ends, it’s safe ground. Barring any smoke monsters from attacking” He said without a shred of humor in his voice “Your best bet is this building here, the top floor is empty and it provides good overwatch over the area, you should be able to reach anywhere on foot quickly” he tapped again transferred the info to a data crystal which he handed to James “You have two SRU’s under the Command of Pangolin that can be anywhere in the district in three minutes plus all the uniformed police you see on the map. You have to leave the room before transporting, there are inhibitors installed.”

Commissioner Karlson

Halloway spoke up this time. “Why don’t you find out what’s going on with Kasmira? If she’s in trouble, we need to get her extracted. Once we know what’s going on, we can move from there. I have some time before they want to see me at Sacred Heart. Perhaps this might also give me time to see to it that Ylana and the kids are moved safely.”

He paused, figuring there would be rebuttal, but hoping there wouldn’t be.

-Governor Michael Halloway

“I can try. But if she’s still alive and being tracked, she probably ditched her combadge. No computer or radio signals.” =/\=Kassidine, call in. Confirm code zero.=/\= No response came.

-Lt Cmdr Nicholas James, CIO/Section 31

Alexander turned up outside the Governor’s office while this was happening, it was his first day on the job and he was told he could wait until the Governor was free or he could come back later. He opted to wait, He had so much to read up on, including the instructions he had received regarding the Rabbitus Memorial School. It was certainly one way to make an entrance, if nothing else.

  • Knowles, HoE&C

It was at that point that he received a private communique from his secretary. The new head of education and culture was waiting for him at his office. He sighed. Hell of a time for new people to arrive, he thought to himself.

Astrid had not interrupted the men mostly because tactical situations were not really her balliwick. She trusted Commissioner Karlson. She had found him to be incredibly competent and efficient. He and his officers knew OED V on the ground like very few people did. The Judge did turn her dark eyes on the Governor though. “You will not be ensuring their safety sir. You cannot expose yourself like that. Someone else will have to gather your family.”

Rousseau, HotJ

Halloway stared her down, though he knew full well she was correct. It wasn’t a menacing stare down, but one of frustration at her being correct on the issue. “Very well,” he sighed in resignation. “Commissioner, someone will need to see to it that my family is moved somewhere safe and out of harms way. Commander James, look into Kassidine’s disappearance if you can. For now, I need to keep up some semblance of appearance. Send me a message when you are prepared for me to make my way to Sacred Heart. I’ll be in my office for now. Any other questions, comments, concerns?”

-Governor Michael Halloway
