Morra couldn’t help the small smile that came to her face as she saw the world of Oed V turning below her. Her absence had been far too long. Her hearts ached to think that it truly had been nearly a year since homeworld had called her back for… reasons. She was glad to get back to the planet, and her family. The absence from Asu and the children made her sad, but she knew it hadn’t been anything she could help.

The Galdori vessel floated in the orbit of the planet, and Morra could make out the twin domes below her for a few minutes before the ship’s orbit carried it away. “Civilian Morra. Are you ready for your transport to the surface?” a voice spoke, and Morra turned to see a green-scaled Hatriku standing in the doorway. He wasn’t an officer she had much interaction with, but she had learned his name.

“Yes. Thank you, Ka’de Gosa,” she said with a small smile and a nod to him. She grabbed her luggage - just a small case with a few important items held within. “I am ready to depart.”

The two walked in silence through the halls of the vessel. Morra had always loved the organic design of Galdori ships, the way the corridors, walls, and floors all flowed into one another and looked as though they had been grown that way. She disliked the sterile, cold design of Federation vessels. It was just as well that she didn’t have to spend much time in either. Being on a planet was so much better.

Morra stepped into the teleport pad and closed her eyes as the dimensional shift pushed her out of the Galdori ship and into the teleportation pad within her personal residence. The data from the transport was automatically logged and sent to the government of Oed V, so they knew she had arrived. She was greeted by three excited faces. Asu stepped over and the two pressed their foreheads together in a loving gesture, but it didn’t last long as the children were quite eager to see their Nanny’s partner return. Morra had always acted somewhat like a second nanny to the children. Growing up surrounded by humans and other species which lived with their biological parents, the two children had developed with a viewpoint that was strange to Morra and Asu, and the other grown Hatriku on the colony, that of attachment to the individuals who took small part in raising them, even those who were not the Nanny.

Morra felt Tama’s little hands grasping at her clothing and trying to pull her down for a hug, so she complied. Milo was a little more shy, but he still had memories of Morra, so he came over for a hug as well. Another gesture unfamiliar to the not usually physically affectionate Morra, she had gotten used to it for the sake of the children.

After the greetings were completed, Morra made some excuses to retreat to her personal computer and check her messages, to see if anything had come in for her in the two days since she had sent a communique to the other members of the Cabinet that she would soon be returning to the planet.

Astrid smiled when she saw that Morra was returning to OED V after a year long absence. She had not really met the woman more than in passing, but felt that she should at least welcome her back to OED V. Upon recieving the communique, the Head of Justice replied.

Greetings and a warm welcome home Morra. OED V has missed your presence. I hope that you get settled in well over the coming weeks and feel free to join me for lunch when you have time.

Astrid Rousseau, HotJ

Morra happily responded to the message, sending it after she was satisfied with the content.

Miss Rousseau. It would be my pleasure to join you for a midday meal. I am not busy next monday, would that work for you? If you are willing, I would love to invite you over to dine with my ‘family.’ Take care.

After her messages had been checked, Morra headed out, driving out to the edge of the dome, and the Science facilities. On the way, she called the office, and was transferred immediately to her secretary and second in command, Giwa. “Giwa. It is good to hear your voice. Do I have any meetings set up for this afternoon?”

“Morra, you just got back today, and we were not certain when you would arrive. So, no. Your afternoon is free. Take some time with your family.”

Morra laughed, stopping at an intersection to glance around. “Oh, I have other plans. I want to take a look at the new dome!”

Morra, HoST
