Urg went to one of the crates and picked up an ‘artifact’ and examined it. It was a Romulan statue of a woman holding the head of another woman. Urg looked at for a moment, said “Fake.” flatly, and then chucked it against the wall by Brianna, shattering it into pieces. Inside were small pebbles of some kind of purple and silvery mineral. Urg then started doing the same to the other ‘artifacts’.

She couldn’t help it, Brianna came up beside Urg laughing. “Ok I get they’re fake. But please stop throwing them around. It really does litter up the place.” She gently laid a hand on his arm. “Please…” she added a bit more nicely than usual. “Besides, even studying fakes would allow us some insight into who these folks were working for.

“Bah!” the giant Klingon said and smashed another because he could, but then held off. “Tal Shiar aren’t so sloppy as to allow such a clue to be available. But feel free to waste your time.” and he rummaged through the rest of the crates.

As her hand dropped from his arm, she noticed the pebbles and minerals in the crate. “Hang on… what’s this?” She gingerly reached to grasp a small handful of thre stones. Cautiously because she didn’t know if they had sharp edges.

“How should I know? I thought you were a miner or something?” he said as he glanced back to look before picking up the Romulan body by the belt around it’s waist. The corpse dangled at an odd angle as the body was hanging from the belt, but face up. Urg slung it onto the pallet in the corner and then drew a large knife and knelt beside the body, his frame shielding what he was doing form view, but not stopping the sounds of cloth… and then flesh… being cut.

Bree frowned but didn’t question what the Klingon was doing in the corner. As long as he didn’t come offer her the heart of the enemy, she was fine. Rolling the stones over and over in her hand, watching the purple and silver pebbles glisten in the limited light, she frowned trying to think. “Perhaps it’s lepidolite. Literally crystallized lithium. The mines on Earth are all but played out. I’m curious where they got it.” She moved to another crate, opened it and broke it on the side of the crate, the pieces falling into the container versus the floor this time. Another handful of the pieces fell out. “So the containers are merely transporting the stones. But why?” She glanced around the area. “Who would need crystallized lithium?”

Sticking the stones in her pocket, she went to one of the guards that had accompanied them. “Go back to the base camp. I want a couple small cameras to plant here. Perhaps we can find who left them and who they are taking them to. I also need some tracking tags to tuck down in a couple of the crates. If there aren’t any there, I have a few of both in a black case under the bench on my shuttle. Maybe we can figure out who is using this spot for smuggling.” She sincerely hoped it wasn’t the newest entrepreneur on the station. He had come to her eager to sell whatever the mines played out. Perhaps he was also jumping the gun on sales of things ‘not’ from OED.

Urg seemed preoccupied with his chore, but at the mention of lithium he said “Lithium is still very important in terraforming. Makes sense the Roms would want it. Since their world blew up, they’ve been spreading out anywhere they can find a place.” and then he twisted his arm and said “AH-HA! Got ya, you little devil-spawn.” and he turned and showed Bree another small device, this one covered in green ichor and bits of… something.

The devise was made of a goldish metal, and a small red light was blinking on it. “Transporter pattern enhancer. Tal Shiar put them inside some operatives. Makes it easier to transport them through shields and such.”

Urg, Lord Duroc

Brianna took the device and frowned as he mentioned what it was capable of. “My guess is that’s how they get in and out of places. The question is, is there any way to shield against this particular device so we can do it to this cave system and keep them out? I don’t want them coming in and mucking the place up, sabotaging it or merely hiding out in the back end like vermin.” She laughed at the thought of them scurrying thru the mine trying to stash or steal as they needs and wants prompted them too.

It never ceased to amaze her how technology was so easily circumvented. Though, in retrospect, it was things like circumventing technology that new technology was spawned. She mentally shrugged realizing it was the evil necessities that kept them leaping forward in their own advancements.

Urg said “Oh sure. Its easy.” and he dropped the device on the ground and stomped on it, smashing it into pieces. “They are also locator beacons.” He turned and looked at the cave, taking it all in. Finally he turned to one of the guards. “Full assault sweep. Map as you go. If you find anyone in here, capture if possible. Unless they are Romulan. Since the the Tal Shiar is here, kill them on sight.”. A slammed fist against his chest was all the acknowledgement the guard gave and he spun and left.
