OOC: October, the spooky month, has inspired me to do a haunted ship theme PRSIM for the holidays. Anyone that’s interested, feel free to join or shoot me a DM on discord.

As Valkris’ foot falls walked from the lounge, her hands cradled a freshly materialized black coffee. Her eyes scanned the nearly empty corridor. Barely a soul roamed it during the early morning shift. All space traffic had slowed during this hour and silence gnawed at her senses. She took a deep breath to clear the anxiety. With an increase in her pace, she slipped into the command room for the landing platforms. A small blinking light indicated a request to port.

She turned her head to check the schedule. It confirmed Voltaire, a local salvage ship, had requested landing permission around this time. Valkris placed her cup down then flipped the switch to finish authorization. A brief conversation later, the ship docked and the small crew prepared to off load. Her attention turned to a fellow officer manning the second console.

“Are you getting the same eerie feeling that something’s not right?”

The man shook his head. His eyes still fixed to his monitor as he answered. “Nope. Maybe your coffee isn’t agreeing with you?”

Valkris frowned then glanced at the dark liquid. “Maybe…”

Her voice took on an unsure tone before she decided on something. “I’m going to make sure they docked all right.”

“Kay, I’ll keep you updated on anyone else requesting to dock.”

She nodded then took her leave toward the landing platform.

Valkris’ nerves fell on the edge of her courage. It wobbled back and forth as her ears caught strange nighttime sounds. Metallic groans and heavy rattles echoed throughout the corridor. Shadows shifted across the walls in the dim lighting while the crew continued to rest in their quarters. Her breath bundled into her throat with each step closer to the docks. The sensation of eyes raked across her skin caused the hair on her neck to rise upright.

She paused then glanced about. Nothing stirred and false security began to build up before she continued onward. Valkris scaled the ladder into the docks. She jumped after making it three-fourths of the way down and landed on her feet. Her knees bent to absorb the shock then straightened up.

Her eyes fixed on the sight before her.

She stared in surprise at the dark, lengthy shadow when it darted across the far wall. It vanished behind the corner followed by heavy sounds of retreated footsteps. Valkris’ eyes followed then her feet moved, her figure glided through the narrow pathways. She pulled up her phrase from its holster. Her chest pounded adrenaline through her system. The footsteps became louder and louder until she tentered the dock area. Silence greeted her as she glanced about, her vision caught no one inside.

Still shaken by the uncertainty, she returned her weapon to her belt. Her nerves on edge and drove her onward, the female began to examine the ship.

Valkris had managed to work herself down to the engine room. She activated her light then scanned the interior. The ray flickered across the grey shapes in the darkness, everything silent and still. Even the large engine loomed over her as if it judged her presence to be intolerable. She shook off the thoughts.

She stretched out her arm to lengthen her light’s reach. She walked along the higher ramps when movement below caught her attention. Her light dipped to brush a dark figure dart past. Immediately Valkris rushed toward the ladder and braced against the sides. She slid down to the floor below.

Once more her light whipped into the darkness.

The temperature in the room plummeted to ice cold. The ice cracked along the tubes and thousands of handprints appeared. Like every past passenger touched it with cries for help. The sensation of being watched roamed down her spine causing it to shiver. Valkris swallowed through the dry lump in her throat. She heard her heart pump in her head, a dizzy sensation filled it and threatened to topple her. With a deep breath, her air misted over in the air. Valkris reached for her scanner then saw the reading had dropped to 5 celsius.

“What the…” Before the Security Officer could curse, her eyes drifted upward.

Countless glowing white eyes stood above her. They looked down and pleaded for help, leaving her rooted to the ground. Her hand reached for her phaser only to watch them fade away. The room immediately picked up in warmth as the cold disappeared.
