“Ok that makes sense. I mean this is Oed. I don’t expect an invasion but rather covert ops to take the financial gain out. However I am ok with what I am hearing so far.”

Xavier

Urg listened and nodded and grinned as the discussion went on. “Oh, I wouldn’t want to try and make myself an exception to your laws, Captain. That’s why the fifty-one percent of the mine will owned jointly by Mrs. Karlson and Ms. O’Hara under the corporate entity my House filed with your city yesterday. It’s all on the chip.” and he waved his hand vaguely at the optical disk he had tossed before them. “Oed -Duroc Industries is a fully licensed and registered corporation with the Federation. Mrs. Karlson and Ms. O’Hara jointly own fifty-point-one percent of all non-voting stock. The company charter expressly forbids House Duroc from changing that ratio without the consent of the Federation Securities Commission. The rest of the stock, including all voting shares, is owned by House Duroc with the Karlsons and Ms. O’Hara listed as proxies. The good Police Commissioner’s wonderful wife is listed so as to keep any semblance of favoritism away from the esteemed Commissioner. To further keep away any potential for conflicts of interest, Ms. O’Hara’s salary, instead of being given to her, will be donated to local charities in her name.” Urg leaned back and grinned at Joseph and Brianna. He knew that the surprise would either irritate, intrigue, or amuse the pair (and Karlson’s wife). But no matter what reaction he got, he was going to find it entertaining.

Joseph only kept his grandfatherly smile at the Klingons declaration. If he was surprised he didn’t show it. It wasn’t unusual for his wife to own property and the like. She was a private citizen who already owned a sizeable percentage in the Hekla corporation. Josephs shares had been sold to his wife and brother or given to his children. Their lawyers would be earning a decent fee to make sure this arrangement would be ironclad that was for certain.

He looked at the Lieutenant Governor and grinned his borderline-maniacal grin. “That work for you? If so, can we eat? I’m starving.”

Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc, Son of the Builder

Bri had come to expect nearly anything from Urg. Though, as he stated her position in the mine and the wages going to a charity, she did react. Her eyebrow rose in amusement and she shook her head. Leave it to him to insert himself squarely in the middle of politics, without getting in the middle of politics. She was pretty sure that she would regret her nod of agreement and approval, but she gave it. Then went back to shaking her head as she took a mug and rose to join the others at the table, holding it towards whoever was serving up the bloodwine. This was definitely a drinking night.

The Captain gave what might be called a grunt, reached across the table of food and grabbed a leg of something and took a deep bite. It was another Klingon thing he had picked up on the way. Basically he had sealed the deal and indicated he was ready to move on and fight anyone at the table for the meatiest morsel. However whatever he bit into had the taste of a dying sewer rat. He did his best to act like it didn’t bother him as he swigged the whiskey to kill the taste in his mouth.

Urg laughed loudly and slammed his hands together. “EXCELLENT!!! Now we feast!” and he grabbed the same kind of food Xavier had taken and took a bite. His nose wrinkled up in displeasure and he tossed the meat across the room and grabbed a flagon of Blood wine and drained it. “Gods, Captain. Why would you eat that? It tastes like a dead sewer rat… in a Ferengi sewer… in summer.” he said as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “Let me know if you ever want to try good Klingon food. I’ll bring to the ship and we can show you. Blech.” He then reached forward and grabbed a handful of gagh and stuffed it in his mouth. “And going forward, …” he said with a mouthful of wriggling worms, “… don’t feel it necessary to try and make these meetings more ‘Klingon’. I’m Klingon enough for most people.” and he roared with laughter again.

Urg, Son of the Builder

Joseph simply gathered some regular Earth meat, he knew the Durocs well enough to know they didn’t share the usual Klingon sentiment that those that didn’t enjoy Klingon food were weaker for it, another facet into why he was so intrigued by those lunatics “No food taster this time, Urg?” He asked in a bemused tone. He gave the Captain a knowing glance, it would be perfectly fine to stick to Federation food for this event.

Commissioner Karlson

Urg swallowed and shrugged. “Naw… he died.” and he took a piece of bread and piled on some of what Joseph was eating. As one of the aides let out a surprised gasp at Urg’s statement, the massive Klingon chuckled. With a mouth full of food, he looked at him and said “No no… not poisoned. Had a transporter accident. Ended up missing his destination planet-side by… like… three thousand meters or something.” and he swallowed and grinned and looked at Karlson and the Lieutenant Governor.

“Straight up.” he added with a twinkle in his eye.

Bri shook her head once more and laughed, a handful of gagh heading for her mouth. “Remind me to shuttle to your ship next time I need to come see you.” She winked, teasing and ate the squirming delicacy. She had to be careful… she was starting to like the Klingon Lord.

For his part Xavier just grinned but ws happy to reach for the fried chicken he had ordered as well. He had no idea what he bit into but if a Klingon thought it was disgusting he must have made a few points with the man just trying it. He was still suspicious but he admitted he had nothing to base a real suspicion on. With that he decided he would have Longstreet keep an eye on it all but would not interfere.

“Mrs. O’Harra. Tell me your story? I am interested to know your background.” He asked. “And how you mixed yourself into this lot?”

Xavier had waved his hand toward Karlson and Urg. He felt it was somewhat questionable that Karlson was involved in this. His brother perhaps but not Karlson.

Xavier

Brianna almost choked on the drink she was taking. He wanted to know how they’d met. She took a moment to decide between glossing over the main story and just laying it all out. The naivety of Xavier and his apparent lack of knowledge of Urg made it to easy to decide on just giving the highlights.

“How did we meet? Wow, seems like ages ago,.” She gave a small laugh and glanced at Urg a moment before looking back at Xavier. The gleam of mischief and fire more than evident in her gaze. “I believe he splattered me in blood, gave me two bodyguards, then basically patted my head and sent me on my way.” She glanced back at Urg and grinned. “That sound about right, m’Lord?”

“I’m not your lord, but yeah… ‘bout sums it up.” Urg said as he shoveled meat into his mouth.

She laughed and glanced back at Xavier. Leaning over slightly, she lowered her voice, though everyone would likely hear. “You do know he’s a bit… how would you say?” She cocked her head slightly. “Eccentric…” Nodding once at the word as if silently agreeing that was the right choice, she lifted her goblet towards Urg. “And he has excellent taste in blood wine, of course.” Her eyes watched him to see his reaction to her description of their meeting.

The blood splatter had been from a head butt to a mechanic about to strike her. Urg had stepped in during a heated argument between her and the station master as she’d tried to get a shuttle one day. Urg’s arrival had stopped a coming fight and helped persuade those around her that giving her a shuttle was in their best interest. He’d even sent body guards with her to be sure nothing more happened to her. All and all, an intriguing introduction to an even more intriguing man.

Joseph smiled a little at her description “She’s not wrong about Urg’s taste in wine but eccentric is putting it kindly” He poured himself a glass of redwine “I don’t know if you remember the time I had to call out an assault team because a group of Klingon Brothers had started a fight in the Spaceport, your Intelligence Chief at the time did his best to stop them, a man truly worthy of his Starfleet uniform” he took a sip of his wine “That’s not standard protocol when dealing with rowdy Klingons but your reputation preceded you” He said to his Klingon friend.

Commissioner Karlson

Urg roared with laughter, sending bits of food spraying across the table. “By the Builder I forgot about that!!!” and another roar of laughter followed. “That Dock Master had the foolish idea he could tell my brothers and I what to do or else. Well… we chose or else !” and he slammed the table as he continued laughing.

After a moment, he slammed down and took a long drink from his tankard. “Good times… good times…” he said with a smile and took another bite. He set his eyes on the Lieutenant Governor and said around the mouthful “What your people here are trying to say without being rude is that I… my brothers, too… are crazy.” and he pointed at his head and made the universal sign for ‘nuts’ by circling his ear and whistling a high then low note. “Nuts. Insane. Unstable and prone to violence… at least according to the doctors on Q’oNos. But what do they know? They even said the Builder wasn’t real and House Duroc was fiction…” and he sat back and spread his arms wide and looked from side to side with an almost feral grin. He then locked eyes with the group and said in a low growl “… but look at us now.”

Urg, Tohn, Lord Duroc, Son of Kvaar’ton, Multi-year Psychiatric Patient

“We all have our insanities.” The Lt. Governor said. “As it is I am confident that this venture is on the legitimate side and in the best interest of SF.”

Xavier was either content to drink hard with the man or leave. Knowing that sometimes Klingons make their judgements on a man’s character if he can tough it out with them. He would get Longstreet to do a work up on those brothers. It was all good fun until someone lost an eye, arm or life.
