Hey everyone.

While I am sure that most of you know me, I am James Sinclair. Ray, AJ, and the Executives have decided that I get a shot to see what I can do to help you all make OED V a success. I’m really very excited to be the new Governor, and I hope that together we can bring out the full potential of our colony.

First, a bit about me. I have been a member of the club for almost four years now. I started off in the Academy, and the character I made there is still active and now the CoS on the USS Saracen. I have held DH positions in all Departments; as well as having played a Counselor, Intel officer, and some other swing and non-traditional roles. I am currently the XO on the USS Wolverine, and the CO of the Manhattan. Outside of RP I have been an FComm, Dockmaster, Vice-President and then President. I am currently a GM Trainee doing my training sim on the Dresden, and I am helping with the migration of the GM Archive. So to say that I am invested in the success of the club is a pretty safe statement.

I am also invested in seeing OED V flourish. I have played on OED for some time. You may know me as Lord Urg’tohn of Klingon House Duroc. I started that character with Dave Shotten and David Eads as the three brothers; and our dear friend Jeremy as the deity Kavarr’ton. OED became very dear to me then, and has remained so. I want to see it grow and become the bustle of activity I know it can be. So with that in mind, I want to ask you… the people who are moving OED forward… a few questions.

First, I see a lot of AWOLs. So I want to know if you still want to be here. I am not going to wholesale remove people, but I do need to know if your interest is still there. If it’s not… why not? And second to that, what do you want to see to get your interest back? Now, I have a lot of plans for growing our colony, but it will require consistent posting and involvement. I won’t demand all of your time, but I just don’t want to see AWOL alerts everywhere. Consistency for any ship or setting is key to staying healthy. You don’t have to post every day (unless you want to!), but we should all try to be consistent. If you are having problems or need some help, let me know. I’m happy to write with you or listen to your ideas. OED is for all of us, and I want you to be happy here.

Second thought, and then I’ll shut up for a bit. We have so much potential for unique roles and characters here. So I am going to start actively recruiting… but I need your help. Talk to people you like to write with. Come up with stories and plots that are interesting and fulfilling to you. Remember, we run our own sims here, and that is an opportunity to develop strong and lasting characters with long, complex story arcs that can really run the gambit. Our freedom is our strength, and that strength should be showcased outside of OED. There are over three million people under our dome… so let’s meet them and see who they are!

I’ll post some more ideas and thoughts in the days upcoming. But for now, let’s get everyone in the green and start bringing the OED V stories to light.

I don’t know if we’re supposed to reply here or in private. Since I’m getting into the AWOL status, figure I fix that here.

  1. Yes, I’m still interested. Honestly, the only reason I’m in AWOL is that I don’t have a bunch of threads and the few I do have, tend to be rather slow. RL comes first after all which is understandable. However, I’m not the type to literally do a solo thread with just me writing everything on it. It’s boring for me and hard to find stories that fit my character to jump in. It appears there’s little around for a Starfleet officer, which is not helped by the fact I don’t know what stories are running.

  2. I honestly would like a big old plot we all can contribute to and evolve. I think it would need an OOC thread to organize and brainstorm unless people want to use the discord. Through I will say… roping people into plots is harder than it sounds. XD

  1. I’m glad you are still interested. As far as finding a place to jump in: Anytime you feel stuck or don’t know what is happening, shoot me a note. As far as finding a place to hop in right now? The inauguration thread is open for everyone. You are more than welcome to introduce your character to the new Governor.

  2. That is an idea I have thought about myself as well. And I have an idea, but we will need to get everyone active and few more people with us before I kick that off. So if you think of someone you like writing with who isn’t here, talk to them. Recruiting is something all of us can do.

The plot line I have in mind will have something for everyone, but it will take some proactive posting on everyone’s part. If you feel your character is getting lost of falling to the side, hit me up. I will get you involved.

Thanks, right now, Heron is helping me get involved with hers. Though it’s a little harder than we originally thought. However, we’ll get it. If I still have issues getting Valkris involved then I’ll send you a message and see what we can work out. Thanks for addressing my statements.

I’ve been meaning to get with you offline, so here’s about as good as it gets. I am back from my LOA, and dealing with my personal issues, before I left, you started a posting in my side thread as a person offering me a shipping arrangement, we need to get together and discuss where we are taking that, please, as I was invested in that storyline and thrilled to start it.
