Sinayda smiled slightly at the Justice’s comment about Kenzo being properly grateful for her work. The comment brought fond memories to mind.
Kenzo released her hand and laughed softly. “I would hope at this point Ms. Nyx would be very aware that I would be more than lost without her assistance.” and he shot a glance at Sin. “And I did my research, yes. But the opinions I read were before this position was anywhere near a possibility. Legal precedent plays a large role 8n both civil engineering and governmental negotiations. It is best one be versed in the current legal decisons.”
It warmed Astrid to her heart that the Governor had read her juris decisions before coming. Astrid was intensely proud of her work which was part of the reason she had been sought after to head justice on OED V. Sometimes though, an entity as large as Star Fleet meant that you could be very good and still be very unknown to many so it was always a surprise to her that people had read her work. She placed her hand on her cheek to cool the warmth that had flushed there. “I appreciate the compliment just the same sir, if not more so.”
It was at that point that man announcement played over the Plaza and inside the building where the dignitaries waited. “Good afternoon. Today we welcome the new Governor of Oed V, Kenzo B’tren-Hyrushi. Please take your seats. Governor Hyrushi will address the Colony in five minutes.”
Kenzo nodded once to Nyx and then said “Madame Chief Justice, if you would be so kind as to excuse me.” and without waiting for a response he bowed slightly and then walked away, towards the doors and the stage out front.
Hyrushi, Governor
Nyx stepped in front of Hyrushi onto the stage in order to scan the crowd. She pulled a 4x8 inch piece of clear film from an inside pocket in her jacket and straightened it from its rolled state. The film immediately hardened and became flat. Activating the device, she set it to detect weapons and then painted the crowd with it. The only weapons found were on the security teams, so Nyx stepped back and gave Kenzo a nod. It was as safe for him to address those present as she could guarantee. Giving the film a snap, it returned to its rolled up state and was replaced in an inner pocket. Staying to his right and a foot behind his shoulder, Nyx watched those gathered for any signs of trouble.

She listened as most everyone did and knew it was time to do the ceremony. She inclined her head to Hyrushi, unable to answer as he walked away before she could. Astrid watched him with a curious gaze before finally turning and heading to her seat at the front with the other leadership of the colony. She knew some but also there were new faces present that she would introduce herself to in time. For now, they awaited the Governor’s first official speech.

Kenzo moved to the podium and placed his hands on either side and looked out over the crowd. He could sense the feelings of excitement, tension, unease… even some hostility. But overall the feelings seemed slightly positive. That was a good sign. He looked out over the crowd and smiled.
“Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, dignitaries, and beings of all species and cultures. Thank you for being here on such a momentous day. Not momentous because of me, or the fact that Oed has a new Governor… no. Today isn’t about me. It is about you. It is about your lives… your futures… your chance to be a part of something profoundly and historically meaningful. It is about a new era for Oed V. A new vison… A new plan. There is a vision in place for us and this place we call our home. A vision of a wondrous future for us all.” and he paused let his gaze move randomly over the crowd.
“Today… we embark on journey that no one could have anticipated. Today we take the first small steps towards the reclamation of Oed V. Years ago, a comet shattered this place. It was only because of the forethought and decisiveness of a few that we have this city today. A beautiful oasis under a dome in a sea of barren wastes. Today… today is where we begin to take it back. Plans are being discussed right now on how we can grow and change this place. Bring life back. Bring expansion and jobs and business and opportunities not just under the dome, not just in the mines… but all over the planet. Today is they day we get to finally dream of a life under a sky. A sky with clouds and birds and rain. A dream of a life where we can move… explore… and build a colony the likes of which no one has dreamt of after the comet. A colony that is both home to us all.... and to those in need of a home. A colony that can not only support itself… but who can be a helping hand to others in need. A place of endless opportunity and ambition. Where we all have the chance to dream and build… create and thrive. An Oed unlike any other.” A round of applause sounded out… not huge, but definitely there.
As the clapping faded, Kenzo continued. “Oed is more that just the city under the dome. It’s a second chance. It’s a belief in each other and what we are doing. And it’s a burning desire to see each day as better than the one before it.” and he smiled at the crowd.
“Everyone… I am not a politician. I am not one to normally speak in public like this.” and he let the smile slowly fade in to seriousness. “But I am also not one to lie. Nor am I one to make plans that I don’t think can succeed. I am an engineer. A designer. A man of conviction… and my conviction is that Oed V is ready to take the next step in its history. A strong, bold step forward into the future. A future that will take work. Dedication. Fortitude. And the belief that each and every one of us is an integral part of this place. We may not always agree. We may argue, debate… even fight. But at the end of all of it… we are still Oed. And we can do anything, anything at all… as long as we do it together. Thank you.” and he took a step back from the podium as the crowed clapped; and few even cheered.
Hyrushi, Governor
Hoka smiled and clapped with everyone and he was soooo happy that he was almost drooling and salivating at the mention of all the jobs, commerce, and trade that will be happening. All of that precious Latium! He his going to be rich beyond his wildest dreams and get a promotion worthy of his new status.....as long as Zerbo doesn’t muck it up. He gazed at the Ress next to him wishing the Grand Nagus would die so Zerbo could get promoted and be out of his way.
Hoka, Daimon
Astrid listened carefully to the speech given. It was a very political type speech with hope for new jobs and new plans to make the colony flourish. He seemed more impassioned than the last governor so that was definitely in his favor. She believed he meant what he was saying, though the tasks would be difficult on multiple levels. Near the end she was feeling his optimism and determination and she gave him applause as he finished and stepped back from the podium. She wasn’t much of a cheering type of person. Such displays were simply not her style, but she did appreciate his words and hoped the new governor would do just what he promised.
