The thin man smiled at the woman “I’m here to observe, but I wouldn’t say no to a drink” He said with a smile and turned to the half Klingon “Johann Karlson at your service. I have a few businesses in town so I like to visit the competition” He introduced himself “But this place is quite the beauty, I’m assuming with the decor you have some Brennivín in one of those shelves?” He asked.

Johann Karlson

Nakuto offered the man a wide grin. “From the land where Sto’vo’kor shines down on all,” she replied, locating the Brennivín on an upper shelf and holding it out, like a prized possession, for his inspection.
“And how will you take it? On the rocks? With beer? Or I have some ice glasses that would make a perfect accompaniment.”

“Just cold in a shot glass” Johann said with a smile. Something told him to look towards the door and so he did.

Mirai simply nodded and began to prepare the drink.

It was at that moment the doors at the front flew open and a truly massive and imposing Klingon stood in the doorway, flanked by another Klingon with a menacing looking eyepatch. “The Builder blesses us this night, my brother!!” roared the bigger of the two as he surveyed the decor and the patronage. His eyes fell on the man at the bar and a feral grin played across his lips. “Karlson! Brother of my brother! So good to see you, my friend! Come! You drink with us this night!” and he walked into the space and rubbed his hands together gleefully.

Johann inclined his head “It would be my honor Lord Duroc” He said with a wry smile. He was aware that the brothers had returned and made quite the spectacle once more”

“Where is the owner of this place?!” he shouted loudly. “Arrangements have been made and I bring a gift for the one who has created such a place as this!!”

Urg’tohn, Lord Duroc, Son of the Builder

From behind the bar came Nakuto, her arms wrapped around a large and ornate barrel, which she was quick to throw at the feet of her newest customer.
“I, Mirai Nakuto, am the owner of this tavern. And this,” she pointed to the barrel, “is bloodwine of vintage 2309. If your gift pleases me then this barrel shall be yours in return. If it does not,” she threw a wry grin towards Karlson, “then I shall have my bar staff make pina coladas for you all. With cherries, whipped cream and umbrellas on top!”

  • Mirai Nakuto (Owner - tangqa’ Tavern)

The Klingon Lord stepped forward and looked down at the bold bar owner. He smiled and leaned down, his lips near her ear and he whispered “Oh… you and I are going to get along just fine, I think. Keep the whipped cream handy.” and he stood up and dropped a large hand on her shoulder. “Challenge accepted!” and he raised a hand and beckoned an Andorian forward. The blue-skinned and armor-clad soldier moved forward carrying a half-keg made of wood with metal straps around it. He set the small container at the feet of Nakuto and stepped back. The barrel’s contents were not specified, but one thing was: It was a personal reserve, and the brand on the top made the owner unmistakable…

The Chancellor of the Klingon Empire.

“I see your vintage, and raise you a batch. Quality… not quantity.” and he threw his head back and laughed loudly.

Urg, Lord Duroc

For a brief moment, the Klingon bravado was shed, Mirai offering a genuinely heartfelt reply in its stead. “I never expected for my humble establishment to be graced with such an honourable vintage,” she exhaled, falling to her knees and examining the barrel up close through a whispered threat of tears.

Johann looked at the brand and smiled. He hadn’t seen a bottle of Bloodwine from the Chancellor’s personal reserve for quite some time, a kingly gift. He then shot a glance at the Bartender “Nakuto” He said quietly it stirred a memory but he wasn’t sure from where. He turned back to Duroc “I see your flair for the stylishly dramatic has not diminished as you’ve grown in status” the Icelander said with his usual sardonic smile.

Johann Karlson

“Personality has to match the title, my friend. Otherwise those p’tagh in the Council Chambers would think they could tell me what to do. And we can’t have that kind of delusion in Imperial governance, now can we?” and Urg roared with laughter and clapped the man on the shoulder.

Urg, Lord Duroc

“I wouldn’t get too excited, the Chancellors swill is more brand name than flavour” K’vorth, brother to Urg casually teased as he stepped away from the group slightly and surveyed the tavern. Grunting with admiration for what had been done, he looked back to the woman, his one eye taking her in but offering no further comment. He was quieter than his brother, shorter, although still tall in comparison to others. His head was shaved and a tattoo of The Builder prominently displayed on the side of it.

Duroc’s impressive demeanour did much to re-establish Nakuto’s own and she once more leaped to her feet and faced off against her esteemed guest once again.
“For this, you get everything from the menu that you demand,” she roared, before indicating towards the stairs and adding, “we have already prepared a private chamber for your party to dine. You should find everything laid out that you need and plenty more besides.”

Turning now to Karlson, she added, “Shall I have your drink sent up there as well?”

  • Mirai Nakuto (Owner - tangqa’ Tavern)

OOC: Bump

“YES!!! Yes you should! Karlson is family, after all! And I look forward to sampling your fare.” and the giant Klingon eyed her blatantly. “Indeed I do.” and he winked before turning and yelling “Go! Everyone upstairs! The feast begins!” and the group moved up the stairs and cleared the doorway.

Urg, Lord Duroc

“It is well worth sampling,” Mirai roared after the retreating figure. “All of it.”

Johann shook his head in amusement “If you would send my drink there and perhaps whatever you have on tap as well” He gave the woman a kindly smile as he moved slowly after the group.

“I shall have a sample board of our finest cask ales sent up for you,” the half-Klingon nodded graciously at Johann, a wide grin spreading across her face as she watched him prepare to follow the gregarious Klingon to their banqueting space.

“He enjoys bossing people around, it suits him,” a human who had come in behind the group remarked as he made his way to the bar. Seemingly with the group, he stayed behind slightly. This man was lean, in a wiry, muscular way but his eyes were full of a quiet intelligence. “This tavern looks amazing. This bar was once on the Viking, wasn’t it?”

Atticus Wolf

The grin faded instantly, Nakuto placing down the tankard she had been in the process of filling and leaning across the bar to offer full scrutiny to the newcomer.
“It was,” she replied cautiously. “What do you know of it? Did you serve on the Viking?”

Before Johann could follow he heard the man talk and stopped and turned around slowly and looked at the man, his amused look stayed on his face. He took a few steps closer to the man, looking him up and down appreciatively. The older man looked at Nakuto and nodded as if confirming something then turned his attention to the other man “The Viking was destroyed some months ago” He said in a calm tone “But I understand this is a similar establishment Mr. Wolf” The two had never met but he was aware of the other man and his impressive reputation. He turned to Mira “You have some relations to Captain Kara Nakuto I assume, I have a cousin on that ship, he holds her in high regard”

Johann Karlson

“Captain Nakuto is my sister,” Mirai responded, her eyes darting from Karlson to Wolf, caught offguard by the mention of her sibling and her former, troubled home. “When I revealed to her my plans for opening this establishment, she had the bar shipped out to me. There had been a changeover in command on the Viking and the new captain had sought to instigate a more modern decor.”
One hand caressed the heavy, wooden countertop. “I have heard the tales and rumours of what occurred on that ship. But this bar is dead and decorated wood and nothing more. And I was not about to let such a marvellous piece slip through my fingers because of some campfire stories.”

She turned once more to Karlson. “From what Kara has told me of your cousin, I would expect him to agree with me. My sister used to call him her rock and the person she went to when she needed to make sense of things. He sounds like a good man. And a good friend. At a time when my sister was in great need of both.”

Johann turned to the woman with clear surprise on his face, lips parted and eyes slightly widened. He covered himself so quickly that it might have been just the turning of his head “I see, well young Peter does have a way about him” He said with a smile and a nod of his head.

The Klingon Lord stuck his head out of the door and glared at Karlson. “KARLSON! Get up here! Party’s starting! Bring your friend!” he yelled and then he looked at Mirai and smiled. In a much lower voice he said “And I hope you aren’t so busy that you can’t find the time to join us. I’ll keep you a spot open near me..” and he winked and the laughed loudly and disappeared.

Urg, Lord Duroc

“I have no intention of missing out on the best party in town!” Nakuto called back to Duroc, resuming the pouring of drinks but still watching Karlson and Wolf closely, in case either had more to add on the USS Viking and its former captain.

  • Mirai Nakuto (Owner - tangqa’ Tavern)

Johann shook his head “Well Mr. Wolf you heard the large Klingon, feel free to join us” He said with a smile turning back to Mirai and started walking towards the Klingon area “Peter tends to be a private person these days but he’s always spoken fondly of his times on the Viking and of your sister, I would be glad to share a drink and speak of old friends” He said with a smile and a nod before moving upstairs.

Johann Karlson

The upstairs was quiet… too quiet.

As the top of the stairs were reached, a riotous eruption of roars of appreciation and celebration erupted that could be heard throughout the building. Urg’tohn, Lord of House Duroc and Chosen of the Builder stood up and bellowed “YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! COME AND DRINK, EAT, AND DISCOVER THAT TONIGHT THE BUILDER HAS BLESSED US ALL!!!!!” and the crowd erupted again.

Urg, Son of Kvaar’ton The Builder
