As Karilan climbed out of the water, Kaili followed behind. Albeit a bit more slowly. Looking around she spotted some towels and dried herself off a little. Her hands in particular; her eyes never leaving Karilan’s exquisite body. When Karilan had returned to her site, she reached out for the tricorder and the small wand. “May I or do you want to do the honours?” she asked with a soft smile.

~Kaili

“You’re the doctor.” Karilan said with a worried smile. “If your autonomous calibration unit slips, I’m the one you want.” and they chuckled, then their face became concerned. “I really hope you are ok, my love.”

Karilan

Taking the tricorder and the wand, Kaili twisted her arm with ease to direct the small device at the back of her head. For a few moments she looked intently at the readings in front of her, nodding her head a little while mumbling something unintelligible. Finally looking up at Karilan, she smiled lopsidedly, “My adrenaline levels are elevated, which is normal. And I’m going to have a nice lump on back of my head for a bit, but no concussion and no injury to the bones. So nothing that requires us to call a doctor or a trip to the hospital.”

~Kaili

A sigh of relief escaped them and they wrapped their arms around her. “Thank goodness. I was worried. I’m really glad you are ok.” They kissed her and said “Well… stay in the bath? I promise to be good.” and they smiled.

Karilan

Careful not to drop the tricorder, Kaili wrapped her arms around Karilan as well and kissed them back. “I’m sorry I worried you. I promise to be more careful next time,” she whispered. “And going back into the bath sounds good. Though if you have something against headaches I wouldn’t say no to taking that first,” she chuckled and then gave Karilan another kiss.

~Kaili

“I do not, but your medical credentials will work on the replicator. You can get whatever you need.” They took the tricorder and put it back and slid open a panel to reveal a replicator station. “Anything you need, go ahead.”

Karilan

Following Karilan to the replicator, Kaili ordered a hypospray filled with Ibuprofen and a small amount of codeine. It wasn’t what she would usually go for, but she knew it would ease the pain and tension quickly and without making her drowsy. Pressing the hypo against the side of her neck, she released the medication into her blood stream and then recycled the hypo. Turning back towards Karilan, she smiled softly and reached out for their hand. “It’ll take a few minutes to kick in, but how about we’ll get back into that bath tub of yours again?” she asked.

~Kaili

They looked at her and said “I’m looking at is as more of ‘our’ tub.” and they smiled and then led her back and into the water that swallowed them both from view. “Maybe we should take a short break from making each other gasp for breath and beat our heads against hard surfaces? How about you ask me anything you want to know about me…” they offered.

Karilan

“Only if you do the same,” Kaili replied with a smile as she nestled herself close to Karilan again; one arm around their waist and her head on their shoulder. But this time she kept her other hand to herself. Avoiding temptation and all that. With her eyes closed, she asked, “What is your favourite memory from your childhood?”

~Kaili

With her eyes closed, she didn’t see the look of hesitation on their face, but they said “Hmmm… thats a good question. I don’t really know. But I do know that working on the warp drive of my Aunt’s ship the first time was incredible. What about you? Any one moment above the others?” they asked, settling themselves next to her.

Karilan

Opening her eyes again and shifting her head a little so that she could see Karilan’s face, Kaili - instead of answering their question - asked softly, “What made it so incredible?”

~Kaili

Karilan smiled. Looking at her, the excitement was evident. ” First starship I ever worked on. You never forget your first.” and they laughed.

Karilan

“I suppose so,” Kaili chuckled and then was silent for a moment; pondering what her favourite memory was. Finally she said, “For me it’s not just one moment, but a lot of small, almost every day things. Like, whenever neither of us had to go to school or work in the morning or an early appointment or something and it was warm enough, we would get the picnic blankets and lay down in the backyard and watch the stars appear in the night sky.”

~Kaili

Karilan smiled and said “That sounds lovely.” They looked out the window by the tub. The city was beautiful at night… but it was an artificial night. “I do miss the stars…”
