Johann smiled at his plate “I’ve spent a year or six in the Empire, most Humans can come to like any food they try even if eating it might kill them” He shrugged “I left Earth at eighteen and travelled the Quadrant. I’ve been to most of the Federations large neighbours, there’s a lot of travelling you can do in fifty years and Klingons are interesting, I once spent three months meditating at a long-forgotten monastery where they only spoke the words written on the Paq’bathl, The even used it as lyrics to songs” He chortled at the thought “The only other place I’ve spent as much time with I suppose would be the Romulans but they don’t have as good a sense of humour”

Leaning forward, K’vorth finished his handle of ale and slid it aside. His bald head accented the metal eye patch emblazoned with the symbol of Kvaar’ton, the same symbol tattooed on the side of his head.

“That wasn’t one of those new fangled tourist monasteries that they call “lost” ones was it? I hear these days they do that, come up with some tripe of a religious text and make the words catchy, throw in a little Klingon Opera and wham, you get guests that visit and leave enlightened.” Laughing he reached for a bone of meat, pointedly avoiding the seasoned Gagh.

K’vorth

Johann cackled at K’Vorths comment “Yes I’ve seen something similar, I always thought that was more a Romulan tactic, creating false religious settlements, hiding the trueness of their culture behind a veil but Humans often forget that Klingons are very sly” He gave the Klingons around a pointed look “Hidden behind all that bravado, loudness and Honor there’s a deep cunning” He shrugged “Well at least with some of them when they have a shared enemy.”

“We treat people as we receive them,” Mirai replied. “And for those who exploit our traditions in the name of entertainment, that is precisely what they shall receive in return. Only, the entertaining will be entirely for our benefit.”

  • Mirai Nakuto (Owner - tangqa’ Tavern)

“Well said… although I personally believe that anyone idiotic enough to fall for such marketing deserves what comes to them.”

Urg, Lord Duroc

Johann barked a laugh “Traditions of other Species is a curiosity you will find all over the Galaxy I think, especially their traditions. I mean Urg here seems to spend half his time on a mostly Human Federation Colony” He slapped the man on the back, for other men it would have been hard “The Federation spends half their time either discovering new places or intermingling with different cultures, learning and enjoying is the greatest part of life”

The door to the Tavern opened and in walked two Ferengi as they stopped and looked around. Upon seeing that everything was OK they motioned outside and then in walked Dai’Mon Ress Zerbo wearing a finely tailored black suit.

“I have decided to Grace this new establishment with my presence. I see that the Honorable Lord Duroc has also graced and blessed this establishment. ” He was speaking in his usual flat monotone voice that was kind of condescending. “I would like a glass of port my good man.” He said while he was sitting himself down at a table and taking off his gloves.

Dai’Mon Ress Zerbo

Johann turned his head to view the new arrival and snorted in amusement before turning back to his drink “Looks like you have a fan” He suddenly stood up rather quickly and bowed his head, his right leg scraping back, right hand across his middle and his left hand stretched out making a formal bow “Milord” Before returning to his seat and taking a sip of his drink, his tone was perfectly respectful without a hint of mocking but the formal European bow was clearly a joke on his part.

Johann Karlson

“Right. So how about that glass of port? I’m rather thirsty and I am well above the station of a lord. I am the Dai’Mon Ress Zerbo. Second to none other than the Grand Nagus himself. So I would appreciate an appropriate level of decorum sir. Plus I am in a rather good mood right now, and want to celebrate. I am prepared to buy drinks for everyone. So again. My port and whatever everyone else wants.”

Dai’Mon Ress Zerbo

Johann immediately stood up and gave the same formal bow to the Ferengi only ruining it with a rueful grin, from the upper floor he sat on it was very much like bowing down to someone but it couldn’t be helped. He sat back down and tossed back his drink in one gulp “Twenty years ago I spent a boozy weekend with the Grand Nagus on Ferenginar, mad old bastard could hold a drink I tell you.” he said to his Klingon companions.

Johann KArlson

Mirai snorted a laugh at Karlson’s colourful description of the Grand Nagus, before rising from her seat and descending the stairs towards her new Fegengi guests.

“Welcome to tangqa’ Tavern,” she roared in ebullient greeting. “I am Mirai Nakuto, proprietor of this fine inn. So once you step through that doorway, my dearest DaiMon, there are none to be found of higher status than me.” The half-Klingon also offered a bow, dressed with a somewhat sharp-toothed smile.

“It seems there is much cause for celebration beneath the dome tonight,” she continued to make conversation while pouring the Ferengi’s requested port. “What occasion is it that you come to toast, DaiMon Ress Zerbo?”

  • Mirai Nakuto (Owner - tangqa’ Tavern)

Urg looked down and growled sightly. fortunately drowned out by the music and celebration. He looked at Karlson and said “Be wary of that one. He’s shifty… even by Ferengi standards.”

Urg, Lord Duroc

Johann snorted at that “A wise man is wary of any Ferengi” He didn’t look back “But I’ll allow him to remain as long as he suits the colony” A mischievous smile appeared on the old man’s face “He might provide some entertainment for now at least”
