Snip.

OOC: I have NO CLUE about what facilities in supposed to be showing here. Sorry.

Dai’Mon Hoka

OOC: Just in general. I wasn’t thinking any thing specific, just a chance for Hoka to show off the zoo. If not that’s okay with me too.

Enger, ED

If a Ferengi could blush, Hoka just did. “I do not take any offense Director. Please do not take any offense to my reply. I guess that being around Hew-Mons for so long has altered my vocabulary. You are correct about the many meanings and uses for the phrase.” He paused and I am a very rare instance to anyone knowing about Ferengi’s, he was actually at a lost for words. He then figured out what he wanted to say.

“I..I..I mean it in a term of endearment. More than that really. I have never had feeling like this before and I am unable to articulate my words like you are unable to read my mind. You do not have to reciprocate my feelings Director. It could just be.......infatuation....I guess that is the word. Anyway it is hard to say what we both really mean and feel since we both do not have a great grasp on the Federation Standard language and have to rely on technology or mind reading. I hope I am not babbling?” He then pressed his communicator button on his modified chair. =/\=Clair. Can you bring the Director and I the temporary blueprints and plans for the Zoo and schools please?=/\=

Dai’Mon Hoka

“No not babbling. At least no more than anyone else struggling to express themselves in a second language.” And true to Cairn philosophy, Karina was honest and blunt, but hoped she wasn’t cruel for that was not her intention. “I am flattered, Hoka.” And she was. She knew that many species were offended by what other species found attractive or desirable in others. Even took offense, but Karina didn’t see it that way. A compliment was a compliment. “My affections have already been given. Long before I arrived on Oed.”

“Ah. Good. Glad that is over with. “

When the plans arrived, Karina pulled up similar plans on her PaDD and used the small built-in holo projector to enlarge the plans so they could look at both. She had plans, based purely on being an educator, and she was sure Hoka’s plans looked at them from a business and practicality stand point. The end result, she hoped, would be a mesh of both.

Enger, ED

Looking at her plans and then his, he noticed glaring discrepancies. “I see we had the same ideas but with different ending goals or ways to go about it.” He spun in his chair to look at her directly. “Director.” He said seriously. “You are the SME they say. Subject Matter Expert. You know exactly what you are doing, wanting and looking for. So I will do something for you that has never been done in the history of the Ferengi Alliance that I am aware of.” There was a long pause as Hoka tried to say the sentence that he wanted to. It was not easy for him but he trusted her and so did the Federation.....” I am giving you access to my bank account. You can do what is needed within the budget we agreed to. This will make decisions faster and if needed then we can hold meetings for purchases that we didn’t account for. I would like to have weekly updates when your schedule allows it if that is OK? I would ask that you look at the educational buildings of the Zoo in order for that to be better as well. I want these projects to benefit the galaxy for at least an eon. I do this for the same reason that you do, not for glory, reward or immortality, but because it is the right thing to do and I am honored to be a part of it.”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina did not answer right away. She considered the offer and it was extremely generous. “It is a most generous offer, but I know my own limitations. I know what I want for the school, I know who manufactures the best of equipment. I also know from long years of experience that people tend to....rip education professionals off. There are some things I knew where to get the best price, but others,” Karina shrugged. “I believe that your expertise in business and price negotiation would be much better for the budget than leaving me on my own. And weekly updates are more than doable.” She glanced at her PaDD a moment, “Thursdays afternoons?”

Enger, ED

“Thursdays are good for me. You will still have access to my account, but as for items and other things you think I will be best suited for, then just let me know and I will get them for you. “

Dai’Mon Hoka

“Thank you, that is very generous.” She looked over the plans Hoka had made, “I would like to take some time to really look over these. There is a lot of detail and I see several things I like, but want to give them more than a passing glance.”

“By all means take your time. This is a very big undertaking and a lot of futures depend on it.”

“Now, for your educational buildings. I am quite excited to see them.”

Enger, ED

“Excellent!” He pressed some buttons on his chair and a 3D holographic display came up. The buildings were in a pentagon shape. They were individual buildings but connected by brick walkways that were covered to keep people dry. In the center was a faculty lounge and supply building with additional offices. All the buildings were 10 stories high evaporate for the center one. Half of our was 10 stories high and the other half was a warehouse.

“These of course are preliminary but what do you think?”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina looked at the model deftly swiping and turning the 3D image. It was beautiful. “This facility is enormous, Hoka. What all do you plan to offer here at the Zoo to need such space?” Oh she loved it, her tone would indicate as much, and she was excited for the possibilities.

Enger, ED

“Well I am very pleased to hear that! The first building is for classrooms and training. The second and third buildings are for research. The fourth building is for outreach programs and recruitment. The fifth building is for something. I have not figured what yet. The center building is part warehouse and supply depot. With the other half being a faculty lounge and cafeteria plus additional offices.”

“These pale in comparison as to the new layout of the Zoo itself plus upgraded enclosures. Then let us not forget the state of the art veterinary hospital and food depots.”

Dai’mon Hoka

Karina nodded still staring intently at the design. She zoomed in on the interior of the first building. “This room here, at the end of the first floor. There is quite a bit of space right outside. If you were to add an exterior door to this room and then fence it, it will make an excellent room for the youngest children. They need hands on real examples. They don’t learn well by photos or video. You could also host parent/child discovery days. In the fenced area grow different plants from the home planets of the animals, even do a meet and greet if you have any animals tame enough. And this room is big enough to hold several adults with multiple children.” She moved the image again. “This room here, on the top floor, insert some sky lights and the bank of windows, has a great view of the park. It would be outstanding for art classes. One of the best ways to learn about animals is to observe and take notes, or in this case, draw them. Wonderful hands on understanding of anatomy as well. Not to mention you could partner with some of the local art galleries to put the students’ art on display. It’s good for the students, for the zoo, and for raising awareness about the animals.”

Enger, ED

“Those are excellent ideas and they will be implemented!” Taking the PaDD off the table he typed in the suggestions she said and then he downloaded the plans and sent it to her as well.
Then he sent the ideas to the architect. Placing the PaDD back down and taking a sip of his coffee he spoke again. “Great! I have uploaded the plans to you and you can add and make any suggestions that you want. Send it back to me and if doable I will send out to the architect. You have been very helpful and might I point out, very impressive as well. Starfleet did good by hiring you and sending you here. You are a credit to your race madam.”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina smiled. If only Hoka knew why Star Fleet had sent her here to begin with. But now she stayed because she wanted to, and loved what she was doing. “I would not go so far as to give Star Fleet credit. I work directly for the Governor and the people of Oed.” She picked up her cup and finished what was in it. “I thank you Hoka. I have to say I have had the opportunity to converse with many of your species, but I have never done business. I found this experience to live up to the expectations, but also a great learning experience. I thank you.” Seeing the time she stood. “Thank you for you fitting me into your time, DaiMon.” Karina made the traditional Ferengi sign of respect. “We will talk Thursday? I will attempt to have the Lt. Gov. attend so that we can finish our discussion. Unfortunately, my own responsibilities are waiting.”

Enger, ED

Hoka got up and bowed. “Sorry. I did not realize that Starfleet had nothing to do with it. Usually they try to put their hands in every cookie jar. And they say Ferengi’s are bad. But it has been a pleasure Director. This office and this Ferengi is always open to you.” He than gave her the sign of respect back. “Until Thursday then. Good day.” With that he sat back down once she left the room.
