OOC: Creating a split here with new title.

Meanwhile, the scans showed several things: not only did the bullet cause damage to multiple organs, but the system spat back an ID alert: Halai Cosgrove.

~Sacred Heart ER Team

In a non-descript warehouse away from Sacred Heart, Eryn sat at a computer console, with multiple monitors and watched. She hated these days. She’d rather be in the field working than watching it. But it served a purpose and it was her turn. Her eyes darted back and forth across the screens watching the comings and goings around Oed, when the computer beeped and flashed and blinked at her. Halai Cosgrove? A quick look told her it was pinged from the hospital. Well that wasn’t good for Halai Cosgrove. “And vhy my dear is your name pinging my alarms? Hmm?” Turning to the key board Eryn initiated a search.

Romanov, CIA

Halai Cosgrove (formerly a decorated Lieutenant in Starfleet) had been the Head of Science & Terraforming on Oed V from 2389-2395 until she resigned her position. This came weeks after she had been notably attacked in her villa and the attack had been traced to a small Tyrellian spiritual group. During the attack, they also abducted Halai’s half-sister Kristina Cosgrove and managed to remove her from the Oed system before the ports were locked down. Halai refused to press charges, but was determined to get her sister back. She took a leave from her duties and went to Tyrellia. She promptly resigned her position on Oed and has not set foot on the planet since. It is noted that she remained on Tyrellia, but Kristina returned to Oed safely with no adverse affects of her abduction. Halai has recently been named Tyrellia’s Cultural Ambassador. To date no formal explanation was given for the attack and abduction and the officials who knew about it are no longer on Oed V.

~Sacred Heart ER Team

Well that was interesting. Eryn was sure it would mean more if she had been on Oed then. She put in a search for information on the Tyrellian spiritual group and their past and current activities. News reports on what Halai Cosgrove did as Tyrellia’s Cultural Ambassador, as well as any shady reports she could find. A search for known associates and backgrounds on them as well as on her sister, Kristina Cosgrove, since she seemed to play a part in the previous incident.

She hit a com button the desk, “Hey, James come in here a moment. Take a look at this.”

Amongst the slew of results that popped up, the Black Sparrow captained by Michael Conrad, would be there. The Black Sparrow was the ship that had taken Halai back to Tyrellia. It was also well known by intelligence within the sector. It was described as a raggedy civilian vessel with unconfirmed unique capabilities. More could be found on both Conrad and the Black Sparrow if needed.

-Black Sparrow info dude

The Intelligence records were spotty, but after the attack on Cosgrove’s villa, Starfleet and Colony Intelligence kept tabs on the movements of the group. Prior to the abduction there had been no reports of violence from the group… ever. In fact, on Tyrellia they were practically considered myth. But piecing together a few statements from Halai herself, it seemed she had had previous contact with them before applying to the job of Head of Science & Terraforming on Oed V, and her extensive back tattoos have been noted as having been done by the group. Halai is, as best as they can understand, considered ‘blessed’, due to burgeoning psi abilities that apparently all Tyrellians genetically have but rarely develop into anything these days.

In her role as Cultural Ambassador, Cosgrove invites high ranking officials from across the Federation to come to Tyrellia to understand the world better. Decades ago, the Federation intervened upon the request of the Trellians during a massive plague that swept the planet. While they had had warp drive from some time, they have been a reclusive people, protective of their culture but also welcoming of those that wish to experience it for themselves. This dichotomy is something the planet still struggles with, but many of the visiting personnel from Starfleet stayed connected to Tyrellia and there is now a generation of mixed-species children like Cosgrove who are trying to balance their different heritages and the genetic issues that come with the mixing. It is noted that a disconnect from the spiritual practices in both full-blooded Tyrellians and those that are mixed (that some scientists believe have a physiological affect upon the body), can cause harm in the form of neurotransmitter deficiencies (and causing all sort of mental health issues) as well as a markedly higher risk of cardiac issues and death. Cosgrove has been an advocate for continuing these practices and making sure other mixed species children like herself get the support they need. It is believed also that Tyrellia intends to make a play for Federation membership at some point in the near future.

As far as associates, notable is her companion Akem, a Deltan she met on Michael Conrad’s ship Black Sparrow and he stayed with her after she resigned her position on Oed V.

Dowann Castinne, the Deputy Councillor for External Affairs, is noted to be a former lover of Cosgrove’s and he was involved in organizing the attack on Halai and abduction of her sister. They interact professionally, but reports confirmed that she has zero personal contact with him anymore.

Halai’s half-sister, Kristina Cosgrove, had a clean record other than her abduction by the clerics. She chose not to press charges stating ‘it was a spiritual matter between the Tyrellians and who was she to interfere’, baffling OED police but there was nothing to be done about it. She returned to OED V after and attended a 2-year program in Public Relations and has since returned to the colony after spending time on Earth with her family.

Akem’s file didn’t provide much. He had been a traveling physician, offering services primarily in the form of therapy. However he was a licensed medical professional. After traveling on the Black Sparrow for a year or so, he decided to leave the Sparrow and stay on Tyrellia with Halai as needed.

-One last little info dump

Eryn ran a search on The Black Sparrow and Michael Conrad and his known aliases, crew, and associates.

She queried the computer to find the last known location of Halai Cosgrove and relevant pictures.

A link up to the computer systems across the colony allowed her to pull pictures of the Halai in Sacred heart and she used those pictures to compare to the Halai that was supposed to be on Tyrellia.

She also did a search for current activity of the Tyrellian spiritual group. As well as details of their spiritual practices. A search for Dowann Castinne to see if he was up to old tricks.

All of the information was focused on Halai’s Tyrellian heritage. Eryn did a search for other associates and family and connections from the other side of her family, even possibly connected to her half sister. After all of that, it would be time to head to the hospital to see what she could find out there.

Halai Cosgrove was currently on Tyrellia and there were images from a recent government banquet, where she wore a daring backless gown that showed off the extensive floral tattoo that covered her back. A few of the other Tyrellians also had facial tattoos like she did, but the symbols were different. It was noted that Cosgrove was supposed to leaving in a few days to attend a conference on Betazed.

The woman that the hospital ID’d as Halai looked exactly like her but did not have the facial tattoos.

The Clerics of Ashein showed up only once in a brief mention of a sighting in the far north of the planet. Though no longer considered simply myth, the group was still rather reclusive, though a couple people claimed in the last couple of years to have found them when they were in deep spiritual need. Much of the information surrounding their practices was rumour. Those that admitted to have interacted with the group rarely spoke publicly of any details. But reading between the lines, the group is focused on the Tyrellian’s ancestral psi abilities. Though the current population had something akin to a very low-grade empathy, historical texts spoke of great abilities that were lost over time for reasons that are unknown. The very rare accounts from those that spent time with the Clerics described rituals to connect themselves back to the core of their being and reaching out to be able to understand others as well.

Dowann Castinne was still the Deputy of External Affairs, though it is noted that there was a rather public falling out between him and Cosgrove. So much so that though the two work together on occasion, it is said that outside of that very particular work, Halai refuses to even converse with him. There’s been no note of any further involvement with the Clerics of Ashein.

Halai’s Human family was a bit spread out, her father, Captain Andrew Cosgrove is the Commanding Officer of the USS Tyr, currently on a deep space assignment. His wife, Janine , is with him, though she seemed to flip flop between joining him on assignment and living in their home on Earth in San Francisco.

Her sister Kristina had recently returned to Oed after spending time on Earth with her family. She is currently enrolled in the next semester at the University of Oed. Kristina seemed to have a penchant for accidentally getting into trouble, though she has never intentionally sought it out. She is noted to know Michael Conrad, though they have no seen each other in recent years after Kristina left Oed after her abduction by the Clerics.

Andrew’s parents are both still alive and live on Earth in Papua New Guinea. Janine’s father died six years ago and her mother is still alive and lives on Earth in Spain.

Halai’s other half-sibling, Adam works for a freighter company as an engineer. Nothing notable on that end, aside from one arrest for assault (a bar fight) that required some community service on Alpha Centauri.

~Helpful Computer

Michael Conrad was best known for his ownership of the Black Sparrow. He started a business on Oed known as the Conrad’s Trinkets and Cafe, later to be renamed The T & C by the new owner, Kat Buchanan. He has been known to traverse many parts of nearby sectors and systems. He’s also known to be one of the only people to venture into Vren space and come back alive.

The Black Sparrow is technically still under scrutiny for multiple issues, but nothings has been verified. What is confirmed, is that the ship is older with an advanced artificial intelligence aboard. Nothing more has been successfully learned about her.

Kanok is his first officer. The klingon does not appear to speak. Hand gestures and growls is all that is obtained from him. It is rumored that he had his tongue removed in fight with another klingon warrior. Story is unconfirmed.

Multiple reports and sightings of Conrad and the Black Sparrow can be found. It’s clear there is no discrimination on his part as to what odd jobs he does.

-More of the helpful computer

Well wasn’t that all very interesting. Eryn didn’t feel like there was anything more she could learn from the computer search. She stood up and headed out of the room and the building and headed to the hospital.

Eryn returned from the hospital feeling she had learned all she could for the moment. A discreet contact with the man Akem she felt was possibly prudent but not until things had thinned out a bit, and perhaps not necessary. She walked back into the warehouse and glanced around. “Vhere is James?” she asked of the first person she passed. The young man only shrugged. Eryn rolled her eyes. This was why she could never ‘be paid the big bucks’ she hated lazy.
