Turner looked at the piece and then at a PaDD and said “No, Madame. That piece is still available for bidding in the silent auctio-” and he stopped short as his eyes focused on something behind her and a wave of surprise floated through him as he said “Actually, Lieutenant Governor, the piece will be held for you until after the show. You may pick it up at your leisure.” and he pulled a small red light cube form his pocket and placed it on the lower right corner of the frame.

A brief quizzical expression passed over her face before Dasca simply nodded. She had fully expected him to want to negotiate or simply, as he was about to say, compete for it in the auction (she was a surprisingly competitive woman). She could question him about the shift but in her mind it was unnecessary. It wasn’t some sort of special favour on Turner’s end because he had been just as thrown off, so she was willing to let it be. Didn’t mean she wasn’t intensely curious but she got the piece that she genuinely cared about and for that she was grateful. “Thank you. I will make arrangement for payment. ” She wasn’t endlessly wealthy or anything, but she and Cory had had a decent nest egg that they had spilt and her half was hers to do as she saw fit.

She turned back to the piece for a moment and reached out, letting her fingers graze the edge of the frame as her eyes took in the colours. Yep, she was slightly crazy- there was no other explanation for why she was willing to endure this reminder. Eela briefly wondered whomever her new therapist would be might say when she told them about about this. Even her years of experience in the field couldn’t quite explain this inclination, here and now, of all time.

Dasca turned back to Turner and bowed her head to him. “Mr. Turner, I know it will be a slightly odd request, but when this painting is picked it there will be a letter for the artist. They might be anonymous, but I wish them to know what the piece means to me. If you would be so kind as to ensure they get it, I would be very appreciative.” She didn’t even care if he read it.

“What do you think General? You aren’t into art as you put it, but any piece take your attention?” Fayth continued on, making her way, out of habit, away from the denser part of the crowd, coming upon the damaged piece and the sign about art being eternal.

Tenkiller smiled and shook his head. “Naw. I don’t really have time for art. Never learned much about it. And sure as hell can’t afford it!” and he laughed. He looked around a bit and said “I dunno… maybe that piece over yonder.” and he gestured to a sculpture piece of entwined figures made of blocks of wire.

Sharah smirked. “Well then it’s a good thing your friend Mr. Turner lures you in with unlimited free beer. It allows you time to experience it. Though, personally I always felt ‘learning’ about art diminished the appreciation. Too much analytical and not enough feeling.” Her gaze scanned the pieces landing again on the chaos piece as she was mentally referring to it. She hadn’t looked at the name. She rarely did, it influenced her own perception. “That approach isn’t for everyone though.” She turned following his gesture. “Provocative and beautiful. Not sure why but it reminds me of this artist on Betazed. She made glass sculptures. The way she dyed the glass and blended colors was elegant.”

Tenkiller shrugged and said “I guess I’m just not… refined… enough to appreciate stuff like that.” He took a swig of his beer, eyes still on the piece. “Although… I do kinda like the symmetry between light and dark, and the juxtaposition of the heavier elements carrying the energy of the piece from the bottom up through the to of the piece.” He then shot her a grin and and wink as he put the bottle to his lips.

A hand come up to cover Fayth’s mouth as the fizz in the ginger ale was inhaled rather than sipped. Her cheeks turned pink and she laughed. It wasn’t his comment but the behavior that pulled a grin in response to her face. “General Tenkiller, you are more than refined enough, and I believe you know that. However, I won’t tell. It would ruin the effect that you are annoyingly likeable.” She laughed again softly and then turned her gaze. “Ah it seems the Lt Gov has had some success.”

Wending her way back through the crowd, Eela was strangely pensive as she found Fayth and Tenkiller again. “Success,” she said, her hazel eyes lighting up. A part of sounded a tiny internal warning that she had opened up a box of emotions and this was not the place for them, so she had been trying to put them all carefully back. But as many things could be, it was not so simple and it was more of a struggle than she would have liked. Ah well. There was going to be an auction and the crowd was getting ready for that. Of course their emotions were playing against her own mood induced by the painting.

“It’s been a long day, so I don’t think I will stay for the auction, and as much as I hate bringing up business at a time like this, there is something I was thinking about Major General that falls into your realm. Might I have a private word now? If not isn’t okay, we can schedule a meeting later.” Yet another meeting. She was trying t be efficient with her time, but as Cort reminded her, she was new and there were a lot of people who expected Dasca to put in the effort to meet with members of the government. By the end of her first two weeks she had a feeling she’d want to stay in bed for an entire week.

Sharah knew a dismissal when she felt it. She also didn’t feel the need to witness any scathing remarks or harsh dismissals that might arise between them. Besides if either wanted her company she was sure they were capable of finding her later. She raised her glass slightly in farewell and quietly wandered away to discover other pieces. The crowd was becoming too much for her, now that there was no focus simply on the pieces but the competition of the silent auction, it was a bit chaotic and loud. People rushing from piece to piece to ensure they weren’t out bid on 3 different pieces was mentally and physically battering. At least it wouldn’t cause a headache, she already had one. Sharah didn’t think she could be jostled and bumped into more if someone yelled Fire! It was probably time for her to go as well, before the crowds and noise began to bother her, but she was enjoying the art and the discussion. She wandered a bit, finding herself back in front of the chaotic piece she liked so much. She wouldn’t participate in the auction, as Tenkiller said, she didn’t have the money for such things either, but she could enjoy it while it was on display.
