“Sure thing, Ma’am.” Tenkillet responded and looked around them. “Follow me, I’ll find us a quiet spot.” He looked at Sharah and smiled “Doc. I’m sure I’ll be seeing ya sooner or later.” and set a gentle hand on her shoulder and walked away.

“We won’t be long,” Dasca said to Fayth.

Sharah knew a dismissal when she felt it. She also didn’t feel the need to witness any scathing remarks or harsh dismissals that might arise between them. Besides if either wanted her company she was sure they were capable of finding her later. She raised her glass slightly in farewell and quietly wandered away to discover other pieces. The crowd was becoming too much for her, now that there was no focus simply on the pieces but the competition of the silent auction, it was a bit chaotic and loud. People rushing from piece to piece to ensure they weren’t out bid on 3 different pieces was mentally and physically battering. At least it wouldn’t cause a headache, she already had one. Sharah didn’t think she could be jostled and bumped into more if someone yelled Fire! It was probably time for her to go as well, before the crowds and noise began to bother her, but she was enjoying the art and the discussion. She wandered a bit, finding herself back in front of the chaotic piece she liked so much. She wouldn’t participate in the auction, as Tenkiller said, she didn’t have the money for such things either, but she could enjoy it while it was on display.

Fayth, SFCMO

As she returned to the piece, there was the tell-tale red light cube on the frame indicating someone had successfully beaten their peers.

The Lieutenant Governor and the Major General made their way through the crowd and towards the bar. But before arriving there, Charles steered them away towards a nondescript door nearby. It slid open at his approach and he gestured for Eela to enter, following behind her.

As they reached the door, Eela signalled to Sunar to wait there and she followed Tenkiller in.

Past the door was a small conference room. Paintings uung on the wall and a table surrounded by six comfortable looking chairs sat empty. “Turner uses this to go over providences and such with clients. Have a seat, Captain. Whats on your mind?”and he took a seat himself.”

Tenkiller, VC-CCDA

Pulling out a chair, Eela lowered herself and breathed out in slight relief. Gods she was tired and her body was telling her as much. Her ad her tub had a date as soon as she got back home. She rested her arms on the table, lacing her fingers together. “My role here is currently in flux. I’m bridging what it has been for a very long time and working to shift it into what it needs to be for the future. Now, when I arrived here I was immediately assigned a Starfleet security detail. And I have zero complaints with the execution of their duties so far, but I haven’t been in uniform in six years. Given what I hope to do here on the colony I feel it’s no longer appropriate. So I’d like to have a non-Starfleet security detail and I understand that the CCDA would be the one who would see that. Is this something you can help me with? Or at least point me in the right direction?”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Tenkillwr’s eyebrows rose slightly and he leaned back and chuckled, drumming his fingertips on the table. “Well ain’t that somethin’…” he said quietly while looking at Dasca.

After some thought, Tenkiller leaned forward and said “Ma’am, let me ask you a very pointed and necessary question before we go roping this particular herd of cattle. Exactly what kinda message are you tryin’ ta send with this move? I mean, the mere existence of the CCDA is a pain in the backside to more than ‘a handful of Senators and Fleet brass. Now you- the senior most Star Fleet rep in this place- is asking for a security detail from that very orfanization.” and his eyes danced with an internal discourse.

“You ain’t plannin’ on settin’ us up for your untimely demise, are ya?” and he chuckled.

Tenkiller, VC-CCDA

Dasca barked a laugh. “Good Gods, I hope not. I also hope your people are more skilled than that, for both our sakes.”

She leaned forward. “This is a Federation colony, not a Starfleet Outpost. Yes, the remote threat from the Vren requires us to be able to defend ourselves, and Starfleet’s presence to provide leadership and infrastructure was crucial after the original colony was destroyed. But things have changed. Oed has grown and no one can dispute that. Not Starfleet and not the Federation itself. You think the Senate hired a retired captain without having the end goal in mind? That goal is that this colony can support itself the way it was always intended to. My hope is that one day, yes ,Starfleet officers will work here, but they’ll be researchers and doctors mostly working in conjunction with the civilian researchers. Collaborating. I’m here to make that happen, even if it pisses people off. But don’t worry Major-General, I’m used to it. I’ve been a pain in the ass to Starfleet for forty years. They’re used to it,” she said with a gleam in her hazel eyes.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Tenkiller eyed her closely for a few moments before his lips spread into a grin. “Well, I always down to be a pain in the ass to Star Fleet, Captain. So yeah…” and he nodded slowly and smiled wider, “… we can take on your security detail. In fact, I have a few candidates in mind. I just need to know how you are dealing with various species. Have any hangups I need to know about before I start sending people your way for interviews?”

Tenkiller, VC-CCDA

She shook her head. “I’ve worked with multitudes of species, and I just spent the last five years with the diplomatic corps. My only request is that whomever you send my way is fine with dealing with empaths and telepaths. If they’re at all uncomfortable with me on that score, then I’m going to spend far too much energy filtering them out and I don’t need that hassle.”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Tenkiller nodded once and said “Oh, I think we can manage to take that into account. Can you come to my office tomorrow? 1400 hours? I’ll have your candidates ready.”

Tenkiller, VC-CCDA

Her gaze shifted away as she searched her memory for a few moments before looking at Tenkiller again, rather uncertain. “Possibly? I’ll let you know.” Her mouth curved into a tiny smirk. “I’ll have to check my schedule and I’m only two days in and Cort has me booked well into next week. I had a diplomatic aide these last few years, but they didn’t manage my schedule for me. This is a little bizarre all told.” She was used to deciding how and when she did things, unless there were specific orders. But Eela was as adaptable as they came and this was just something else to adjust to.

Planting her hands on the table and pushing herself t her feet with the whirring aide of her brace, she smiled at him. “Thank you Major General. I appreciate your help with this rather sensitive task.” She’d naturally deal with the fallout but Dasca had already been working through how to handle Command.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Tenkiller rode as she did and stood up straight at attention. “My pleasure, Lieutenant Governor. I hope to see you tomorrow, and if not, thats perfectly fine.” and he inclined his head slightly. “I’m sure the CCDA will be ready for you whenever you are ready for us, Ma’am.”

Tenkiller, VC-CCDA

She smiled, one that was warm and sincere. “Hopefully tomorrow. It was nice to get to know you and I look forward to working together.” Dasca inclined her head and moved out of the room.

Rejoining the exhibit, the Lieutenant Governor took a moment to find Doctor Fayth and then wove her way over to Sharah, offering her a smile. “Well, that’s me done for the evening. I need rest, but it was great to run into you here.” She leaned in a little, though hesitation touched her face and emotions. “I… I was sincere in my offer earlier. I’m going to check out the farmers market on Saturday. If you’d like to join me, you’re more than welcome to and I’d be happy for the company. But… I know that hanging out with the boss can be a bit awkward, so I promise I won’t take offence if you say no.”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
