A few minutes before the meeting was about to start, Eela made her way up a floor and entered the reception area. “Am I too early or has everyone beaten me?” Dasca asked, a padd in hand. Her tone was neutral but she felt weighed down. There was no easy way to deal with this situation and a good portion of it would rely on her interactions with Starfleet.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

The receptionist smiled and said “No, Lieutenant Governor. You are the first to arrive. Please go in, he’s expecting you.” and the doors swung open inward.

“Nor should you.” Hyrushi said. “I have seen individuals and groups like this far too often. Those who think they are somehow above the same rules that apply to the most unfortunate of peoples. Who believe they, because of the circumstance of their birth or fortunate circumstance somehow are immune to the ramifications of their actions.” and he shook his head and leaned back, a gleam in his black eyes.

“I am reminded of the words of an ancient human general and king. His name was Genesis Khan, the leader of the Mongol Empire, and he was feared by all the known civilizations of the Earth in his time. His warriors were skilled, fearless, and ferocious. And at one time, the Emporer of the most powerful nation- the Romans- sent a letter to the Khan asking why he kept pushing the Roman forces back when they had never attacked the Mongols directly. Ghengis Khan sent back a simple response. ‘I am the punishment of the gods…If you had not committed great sins, the gods would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.‘“and he locked eyes with the Lieutenant Governor.

“Perhaps that is your role on this particular exchange… My Khan.”

Hyrushi, Gov.

There was a subtle lifting of her chin as she gazed back, her eyes intense. “Well, I certainly wasn’t chosen out of the pool of candidates to uphold the status quo, that’s for damn sure.” Eela leaned forward, bracing her hand on her thigh. “I joke that I have been a pain in Starfleet’s ass for years, but what that means is that the oath I swore to the uniform and to the Federation meant something to me, and when people were being stupid or incompetent I never had a problem expressing my views on the matter.” She leaned back. “Getting people to listen can be a difficult thing, and sometimes it requires unconventional approaches. But I promised Luis Vargas some justice and I intend to make that happen.” She knew all too well that it might cost her some much required good will but oh well, she’d survive.

“Thank you for having my back,” Dasca said knowingly. He would not have made some a pronouncement without understanding that she would need people behind her to support the authority of her position. In this Eela and Kenzo had to be in lock-step or else their efforts here were doomed.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov

There was suddenly an Incoming CCDA Secure Communication logo came on the screen for about one second before a familiar face popped on the screen. Sitting in a light of a hospital room, General Calvin Harris, Commandant General of the CCDA, appeared on screen… talking to someone off screen. =A= Ali… can you zoom this damn thing in? I hate…=A= He then noticed he was on live. =A= Damn! Never mind Ali… I’m on. Step out and let the guard know I’ll be tied up. Thanks Princess.=A=

Turning back to the pick up, Harris smiled. =A= Sorry about that. CCDA here =A= The former Marine looked far better than he had in the first to weeks after the crash. He was sitting in a CCDA polo shirt and looked focused.

Harris, CCDA

Hyrushi looked up at the large display over the fireplace and inclined his head towards the General. “General Harris. I am very pleased to see you awake and in good spirits. I am also happy that you could join us today. I trust you are well enough for visitors now?”

Hyrushi, Gov

=A= Security is still a… bit… tight right now, as you can imagine!=A= Harris chuckled before pressing on. =A= That said, I’m certain Senior Officials could pop by for a visit. Though, I think I should be well enough to head home soon. The team here at Sacred Heart deserve a raise…=A= He chuckled once more… a bit louder this time. =A= … at least in this old aviator’s opinion. As for guests, I’ve gotten to see a few friends and family. Rolled over to check on Lucas yesterday…=A= Harris grimaced slightly. =A=… they said I have to move via a damned hoverchair for a few more days… anyway, Lucas is also in good spirits since coming around. Though I think my old friend will be a… guest… of this fine establishment for another month or two.=A=

Dasca cut an elegant figure as she gazed up at the Harris. She waited till Harris replied before she said anything and then gave the man a smile. “General Harris, I wish we were talking under better circumstances, but later when appropriate I look forward to meeting in person.” Given she had arrived after the man was in the hospital, they had yet to actually meet, but Tenkiller had been excellent to work with thus far.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

=A= As do I Ma’am…=A= The General replied smartly with a sharp nod of the head. =A= I do hope General Tenkiller has been as helpful an Okie as I would be!=A= He smiled again, shifting a bit to sit up a little straighter. =A= After the Wardens release me, we’ll have to grab lunch. I find conversations over food run a lot smoother=A=

Gen Harris, CCDA

The smile Dasca offered the General was sincere. “That sounds like a great idea. Let me know when you’ve escaped and we’ll set something up. In the meantime, yes. the Major General has proven to be a valuable associate. My new security detail is working out beautifully.”

Tiberius was running a little behind. He was in the middle of a security check when the request to come to the Governor’s office came through. He had hoped he had not missed a ton of what was going on but rushed in and responded, “I am sorry for my lateness. I was in the middle of some security drills and could not drop out in the middle of them. I hope I have not missed much and I apologize for my tardiness.” He looked around and there only seemed to be a few people in here so he was hoping he had not missed a ton. He always hated being late. Tiberius always felt he was interrupting when he was late. It had always driven him nuts. He awaited for a response and sat down.

Cheif of Security

A human man of Asian ancestry stood up- long, straight, black hair falling down his back almost to his waist- and he he inclined his head. “You are not late. We are still waiting for some more to arrive.” He walked slowly and purposefully towards the Star Fleet Security Chief and extended a hand. The two men were almost identical in height and weight, and completely jet-black eyes stared at Cattaneo. “I am Governor Kenzo B’tren-Hyrushi. You must be Lieutenant Commander Cattaneo. Welcome to Oed V, Commander.”

Hyrushi, Governor

“Hello Governor B’tren-Hyrushi. I am looking forward to working with you and the others.” Tiberius responded. He was excited to meet everyone as he was still very new to Oed V and not had a chance to meet everyone. He was hoping he could remember everyone meeting them like this. He generally liked meeting them one by one instead of being overwhelmed with all the new people. This was something he was working on. He was good at reading situations and combat information related to the location he was but trying to remember names, was always a downfall. He was curious to understand what was currently occurring on the colony.

Eela gestured to the seating area. “Have a seat Commander and don’t worry if you feel out of the loop. Everyone else is too and you’re about to be read in.”

Nicholas slunk into the Governor’s office, a somewhat familiar place to him. He looked more tired than usual, though trying his best certainly to hide it.

The Haliian studied the newcomer intently. He was someone else she had’t met yet, though Dasca surmised that the Governor would include her in intelligence briefings going forward so she’d likely get to know him better over time. If nothing else today, his insights could be very helpful to her understanding certain aspects of the colony. “I’d suggest caffeine but by the time we’re through this meeting, people might desire something stronger.” She thought it interesting (and probably telling) that the man had came into the office and remained silent.

Nicholas smiled darkly. “Skip the coffee. If we’re all here on short notice, we’re going to need the strong stuff sooner than later. Any hints, Lieutenant Governor Dasca?” Given Nicholas’ field, it was not surprising that he knew who the major government players were at any time. Though whether he was often recognized was another matter altogether.

“I think we’re just waiting for Commissioner Karlson and Major General Tenkiller,” Eela commented.

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

The doors opened as the Lt. Governor spoke and a dark red-skinned man walked in. “Apologies for the late arrival, ladies and gentlemen. Had an issue that needed rectified on the platform before I could get away.” Major General Charles Tenkiller walked into the room and acknowledged the Governor and Lieutenant Governor with a quick nod of his head and then said “I have the CCDA’s file on the recent events and some high-level projections of potential risks and exposures for everyone when you are ready.” and he took a seat as directed by a gesture from the Governor.

Tenkiller, CCDA Vice-Commander

Nicholas studied the newcomer. The name sounded familiar from some old starfleet file, though he couldn’t place it.
